My favorite movie star of all time is Gregory Peck. Not far behind is Cary Grant. Two legends from both sides of the Atlantic that made decency and class cool and acceptable. Neither took himself too seriously. As a pleasant consequence everyone took them very seriously. What a far cry they were from the Brad Pitts and Tom Cruises of today's cinema. If I had a time machine and I can go back in time to meet one of the hollywood actors or actresses of the golden era: it would definitely be Cary Grant. He was such a nice humble very charming man. Natural and handsome. Very witty n attractve. Very talented on screen n off screen. May he keep resting peacefully.
Thank you for sharing. They broke the mold when Cary Grant was born. He was that special. Too bad there are very few men like him in the 21st century... One of a very few biographies I cried over.
I found a list of 22 movies released for 1964, of which "Father Goose" ranked #6. While not in the top 5, it came close. Nothing to be ashamed of. While critics at the time might have not liked it, the viewing public still did. It's also endured as one of the fan favorites. I know it's right up there for me alongside "Charades", "That Touch of Mink", and "Operation Petticoat".
Loved this video, have always loved Cary Grant! My favorite actor of all time for his comedy and his dramatic performances. He was handsome and charming and his movies make me laugh and a few make me cry (Penny Serenade with the wonderful Irene Dunne. Such a 'tear-jerker'.) I continue to laugh out loud when watching "My Favorite Wife" or "The Bachelor and the Bobbysoxer" ! Fabulous talented leading man who starred with so many fabulous talented leading ladies! Cary Grant, by far, my favorite screen actor of all time ❤️💗💜💞🌹.
I like to think that Cary's daughter filled the aching hole in her father's sad soul. Gary Grant and Robin Williams were, to me, quite alike with their ability to bring joy to the lives of others while living in the shadow of their own pain. I so hope there is an afterlife for these two that finds them glowing with true joy themselves.
Cary kept certain clothes for his daughter when she was with him, he din't like the way her mom dressed the child. When my ex was working in dreary islamic countries; Robin Williams showed up to entertain the guys. He was really nice.
The Bible references often the hope that Jesus shared with everyone that he spoke with. His, Messianic Kingdom, about to take place as stated in the Bible book of Revelation, highlights a time very soon where God will end all corruption and return the entire planet to a paradise earth. In Revelation 5: 3-5, it mentions, no more sorrow, sickness or death. The former things, that mankind has endured for thousands of years now will be done away with completely. I hope that I will be there. Imagine meeting our favorite actors, people of history and our family tree, all the way back to the beginning. Marvelous things are ahead for men of goodwill. We just have to get through the craziest time ever in history. Sickness, old age and suffering must end. We should all want better for each other. No hunger, no wars or poverty. ....... Get close to God while there is still time! The best to you all!!!
This is a great bio .. I saw Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn in the movie "Charades". The movie kept me guessing to the very end. That was a good action leading role for a man around 60. He played his age up in the movie. He still kept his light-hearted demeanor. I went back to the theater to watch it twice.
I❤CARYGRANT above and beyond obsessed with everything about him from the way he dresses to how handsome he is, that accent and tone of his voice and personality plus! And when he gets romantic 💋OOH LA LA !!! HE'S GOT IT ALL ...💌 💕💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💕 😘 Audrey Hepburn is a great actress NOW I'm finally getting to my point It's dumb that I feel guilty but I pretty much hate that movie, I've tried watching it a few times but no... It makes me nervous , she gets on my nerves the way she's hanging all over Cary Grant. I think it's stupid and so many people love it and another one of his is, North by Northwest I think it's called...☹ 🤦🏻🙄😖😬😱😨🙀
I bought the video and watched the movie Charade more than 10 times. (Suspicion was the movie I watched so many times, more than any other movie. - I only watched movies one or two times. Two Kill a Mockingbird - great movie saw a few times - loved it. (Gregory Peck) but Cary's movies were movies I wanted to see over and over. Sigh he was wonderful.
I love to hear about my fav actors how they got to Hollywood.not like today's you tubers etc which just get offered sponsers etc. he worked damn hard to get where he was.He was a diamond in the rough and he shined through.
@@julianakleijn9254 So what if they hired him because of his looks, it's the looks that sell. He wasn't exactly doing Shakespeare. btw you are a low life.
Not only known for his dramatic performances, he excelled in comedy roles. The so called "Screwball comedy" movies, usually called for the actor/stunt double to do be able to do physical comedy. Bringing up Baby, Arsenic and Old Lace. I have never seen a bad Cary Grant film. 🥰
I loved all his films - except for the last one with Leslie Caron. My two favorites: Suspicion and Charade. Many others I loved but those two I saw so many times. He is the only movie star I absolutely adored - he was it (age 12 or 13) and forever afterwards!
Still my favorite actor of all time. I watched Father Goose and That Touch of Mink tonight. I have several of his movies on DVD and VHS. An Affair to Remember, North by Northwest, That Touch of Mink, and Father Goose are my favorites. I always enjoyed the Toppers movies too. I wish I had gotten to meet him before he passed away... I forgot all about Operation petticoat... I'm going to have to get that movie. I get tears in my eyes call joy his movies gave me. Rest in peace Mr Grant
There were pictures (especially of his family) that I'd never seen before and lovely interviews with his surviving contemporaries that made this a surprisingly worthwhile bio. Thanks!
Cary Grant was one of the most entertaining and charismatic actors of his time. He turned down the chance to play James Bond. He’d have been great in that role, but he didn’t want to play the same character over and over again. He was a trailblazer in his own way. North by Northwest is my favourite Cary Grant film.
My favorite movie of all time, at the top of my list where nothing but this one lives is "An Affair to Remember". He was at his best in every way and the story was just lovely and shocking and beautiful. He must have been really great at choosing roles where he could shine as an actor. What a guy he was!
I would rather watch Cary Grant movies over and over again than some of the garbage that comes out of Hollywood today. His movies were all about love. No killing, no violence. The most violence in any of his movies was at the end of Charade and N x NW. You can always come away from his movies with a sense of happiness and well being., And not have night mares.
I liked him in bringing up baby I enjoy screwball comedies they make me feel good but of course carry grant was a wonderful actor and very good looking
We still have Cary Grant in our hearts and his early lifestory just show how destructive core hardship is to the inner soul of us and how it takes a lifetime to repair, if one is lucky. True private happiness is worth striving for. We only have one life.
Nice to hear Eva MS speak warmly of Hitch (as Ingrid did elsewhere) because we have heard a lot recently about how badly he treated Tippi Hedron. I’m sure Tippi suffered as she described, but there certainly was a great deal more to Hitch than that bad behaviour.
One of my favorite actors. My family when I was growing up were always interested in movies. Always the classics. And of course Mr Grant was in many of them. Father Goose and Operation Petticoat are 2 of my favorites. As well as That Touch of Mink with Doris Day and The Bishops Wife.. All of which I now have on blu-ray. He was a spectacular actor. Class act.
The Golden Age of Hollywood was the best ever, full of talented, handsome actors and beautiful, classy women. They don’t make them today like before, that elegant and lovely time is gone for sure. Cary Grant was not only a very classy, good looking man but he was a talented, elegant, suave, charming man with superior acting skills and a true gentleman. Love that Hollywood era where elegance, class, and beauty was the way of life. God bless Cary Grant soul forever, he might be gone but definitely he will never be forgotten. Loved this video, it is very lovely. Thank you for sharing it, it was great 👍
One of a kind! I was going through a hard time and was fortunate to have a Cary Grant retrospective come on at a local theatre. Red velvet chairs, white lace curtain opening to the RKO beginning! 2 features each night and by the end of the event I’d forgotten what I was sad about! Class act and funny too.
My favorite Cary Grant story is how after he married the fabulously wealthy heiress Barbara Hutton, people called them “Cash & Cary.” Cary didn’t see the humor in it, but I’m sure even he had to admit that it’s a really good one. 😁
After heartfully seeing all his movies, I visited his Wikipedia page..I read those appreciations from his fellow stars, just awesome.. I can only dream of how such a person came to be, on this planet..there are many great stars, but then, there are 'Greats amongst greats'..
Gosh, I loved Cary! I was hooked after watching "An Affair To Remember." I have probably watched all his movies at least 3-4 times. In fact, he owned a home in Palm Springs, Ca which I got to go see since I live 15 miles from there. A friend of my brother knew the woman who bought it so I got to go inside. Good Lord, he was so handsome!! My brother knows his daughter Jennifer so he talks to her every so often!. I will always remember him as the MOST handsome man ever created, his sense of style and comedic acting! God threw away the mold after he created him! There aren't any actors/comedians nowadays who can come close! SURE MISS HIM!!!
Cary Grant was undoubtedly one of the best talented movie stars of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. He had perfect timing in his delivery and one of the most handsome men walking the earth. The cruelty was rife in families in the Edwardian period. My father who was born 1909 and had a spaniel dog called Billy. My father came home from school and the dog was gone. He later found out that his father had the dog put down as a punishment for something my father had done. Cruel generation.
Well not the entire generation. MY EX'S DAD WAS BORN IN '38, THE ONLY TIME HE grabbed his shot gun and took his son hunting with the family dog to another state, in a forest. He later said ''well the dog ran off but sorry we got to leave now,. '' It was sad to hear my husband, an ex marine ask me ''what did I think about his dog running off and leaving his dog behind''? He still doesn't realize his father shot the dog.
Very nice run thru of his life. Of course they didn't mention what I have always heard and read, that his film "That Touch Of Mink" was his highest grossing film ever. Doris Day was his insisted upon co-star. It was huge! Also they skipped over his 8 year involvement with Randolph Scott. That was a tough time for both of them when their respective studio's said it's either over or your careers are over. They were highly liked and loved in that business and that they were together. Cary died in Davenport IA. I happened to be there when I heard the news attending a poultry show. I thought what the hell was he doing there?! He was doing his Conversation With Cary show it turned out and he had a heart attack. What a stunningly handsome and unique person he was and is. Doris Day spoke very highly of him as well and that in itself is something.
While I loved his on camera movies and will always enjoy a replay, I fear he had lost himself within the cocoon of his own image. I'm so glad he got to be a Dad and find some permanent fulfillment after lots of strife.
If Cary Grant's fondest wish was for people to approve of him, he succeeded, wildly. Of all Hollywood's leading men, he is the single greatest...period. Everyone else is in second place.
@@mervyndrage3507 I can relate...My mother passed tragically when I was 10...I am #8 of 10, same parents...It was beyond devastating. She was our everything...The most amazing Southern lady and devoted mother.
What a delightful documentary from Archie to Cary Grant ~~ for a Saturday evening 5/15/2021 ,,,,, Thank you so kindly to the "The Hollywood Collection" for the upload ,,,, Thank you for the "Memories" ~~~
What a wonderful documentary. Cary Grant (Archibald Leach) seems to me a Charming, genuine man with a heart of gold. He certainly had a rough start yet made the best of it for himself. I don't think enough people know his whole life story or we would see his pictures on t-shirts like Marilyn Monroe. I realize that's not an equal comparison but still.
They really glossed over it in this biography, but the story with his mom is so sad! She had such intense PTSD over having an accidental hand in her baby son's death, that her husband (who was rarely home) had her institutionalized. Archie came home one day and his father told him that his mother ran off and left the family. Archie was devastated, and had real abandonment issues his whole life. It wasn't until his father died that he was informed he was the next-of-kin to his mother who was still in the institution. They talked about how happy he was to find her, which is true.... but she had endured 23 years of "treatments" at this institution, and was never really coherent the remainder of her life. It's such a tragedy that those kinds of unspeakable things happened- and this wasn't that long ago! I think her life was crazy depressing.
thank you for that information. poor woman and poor little Archie. i’m glad he found her though. they didn’t know much about PSTD or anything for that matter, back then. also, i don’t know when it stopped, husbands could institutionailize their wives for anything - like if they found them too argumentative! thanks for reminding me. Keep safe :) 🌷✨🌱🌼
TheSpiritOfTheTimes You may want to research the global viruses in the past to compare the number of deaths caused only by a particular virus, like the most recent being COVID-19, (not these victims’ underlying health conditions that actually caused them to die). Hello Elizabeth I see happiness all around you, can I please share from it ❤?
If I had a time machine and I can go back in time to meet one of the hollywood actors or actresses of the golden era: it would definitely be Cary Grant. He was such a nice humble very charming man. Natural and handsome. Very witty n attractve. Very talented on screen n off screen. May he keep resting peacefully.
Touché!
Penny Serenade is a great oldie movie!
Thank you for sharing. They broke the mold when Cary Grant was born. He was that special. Too bad there are very few men like him in the 21st century... One of a very few biographies I cried over.
Well, there is no person as good looking as him nor have his comic timing.
There are plenty like him, we just dont look like him! lol

It is my favorite movie that he did.

One of the best actors ever. They missed some of his best movies, but for that you needed two more hours.

He was the best leading man I've watched every one of his movies Everytime I c one on I am glued to the TV
He had Such Charisma, and something very special and deep that you can't quite define, And you can sense the deep-down sadness in him
Fantastic! He was gorgeous and it was as if he didn't know it. Just WOW! Never been or will be another Cary Grant.
So much sadness in his life; thank God he had little Jennifer to brighten his later years. He was a fabulous dad.
Hello Jane I see happiness all around you, can I please share from it ❤
I like to think that Cary's daughter filled the aching hole in her father's sad soul.
Gary Grant and Robin Williams were, to me, quite alike with their ability to bring joy to the lives of others while living in the shadow of their own pain. I so hope there is an afterlife for these two that finds them glowing with true joy themselves.
That was very sweet of you
Cary kept certain clothes for his daughter when she was with him, he din't like the way her mom dressed the child. When my ex was working in dreary islamic countries; Robin Williams showed up to entertain the guys. He was really nice.
@@marilynwillett804 I have heard similar from many people 🤗 what a great person he was. R.I.P.
Joy, joy, joy.

It's dumb that I feel guilty but I pretty much hate that movie, I've tried watching it a few times but no... It makes me nervous , she gets on my nerves the way she's hanging all over Cary Grant. I think it's stupid and so many people love it and another one of his is, North by Northwest I think it's called...☹

None better as a comedy actor, especially for one who didn't look at all funny
I loved all his films - except for the last one with Leslie Caron. My two favorites: Suspicion and Charade. Many others I loved but those two I saw so many times. He is the only movie star I absolutely adored - he was it (age 12 or 13) and forever afterwards!

I rewatched An Affair To Remember just last week. It still brought tears to my eyes, one of my all time favourites.
I like Arsenic and Old Lace. He's glamorous and goofy all at the same time.
Deeply, I found that movie fantastic and romantic.I spent an amazing time when I watched that before 20 years.
The music in this documentary is so tasteful. Fits the era so well ❤️
He starred in my all-time favourite film. Cary was so good at comedy.
RIP Cary Grant, you have aged gracefully and you have maintained your debonair, charismatic and handsome.
Hatchback was notorious (pun intended) for his abusive attitude to his female stars, especially blonde ones

The Golden Age of Hollywood was the best ever, full of talented, handsome actors and beautiful, classy women. They don’t make them today like before, that elegant and lovely time is gone for sure. The movie “Holiday” wth Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn
Hello I see happiness all around you, can I please share from it ❤
My favorite Cary Grant story is how after he married the fabulously wealthy heiress Barbara Hutton, people called them “Cash & Cary.” Cary didn’t see the humor in it, but I’m sure even he had to admit that it’s a really good one. 😁
That title implied something vile about Cary. He was understandably offended.
@@ricardocantoral7672 Also I think that Cary signed some kind pre-nup before marrying Barbara Hutton (not her request, but is desire.)

😳 wow

What a delightful documentary from Archie to Cary Grant ~~ for a Saturday evening 5/15/2021 ,,,,, Thank you so kindly to the "The Hollywood Collection" for the upload ,,,, Thank you for the "Memories" ~~~
My grandparents lived near Cary Grant & his parents. In Bristol, yet didn't know them. ⭐️🎬⭐️
