This is really great but I think the lead guitar part is a bit off. I watched his live video from the james cordan show and he was playing the intro all on G as 2's-4's then slides up to 7-6 then slides back down to 2 all on the 4th (G) string.
I saw that video too and you are right, that is what he is playing. In the recording you can actually hear 3 guitars all playing together (listen with headphones and it's easier to hear). The chords playing, and then the part he is playing in the video, and also the part I tabbed. I should have put all 3 parts in the video. Thanks!
It has a lot to do with the amplifier. Play around with the settings on your amplifier, especially the gain or drive setting to get a similar sound. Also I used a little bit of a delay effect for a little echo.
