KC plays his part in Succession brilliantly, he is perfect for the role.
I must say the casting for Succession is top notch. there is not a main character in it that I 'don't buy'. Most shows, even good ones, have at least a few actors who can't sell their role. Many shows with a good plot and writing are destroyed by poor casting choices.

He's exactly as he is on the show, the writers hit a home run choosing these actors or centering the show around them.
Casting directors pick actors not writers.
Not disagreeing, but I think Logan, Kendall and Tom are the most perfectly cast characters. No other actors could have done full justice to those roles. Whereas, I'm sure many wonderful actors could have played Roman, Shiv and Greg. They just happened to choose these wonderful actors, which is fine.
@@aquamarine99911 Weird take as Roman, Shiv, and Greg are the most like the actors playing them of anyone on the show. In interviews Nicholas Braun has the exact same speech patterns and mannerisms. Can't think of a single contemporary who would excel in that role as he does. Whereas Matthew Macfadyen is worlds apart from Tom. Bottom line is that they're all amazing regardless of how outside of their natural inclinations they're playing.

I genuinely wonder sometimes if Roman is just Kieran not acting, or if Kieran has become more like Roman over the course of making Succession

Kieran said on the Succession podcast that there is a lot of overlap between himself and the character.
Often TV show writers will write the character for the actor they choose so it's likely that they're using aspects of Kieran's personality to write Roman
Usually a good show will write over the actors and their relarionships on the set, to some amount atleast. If they see some people having chemistry they will use it or sees an actor behaving say in sarcastic manner and putting some of that in there if they find it charming. It just works, this series does it very clearly and it makes for example improvising (which Kieran didn't do at the start of the show but apparently have done later quite heavily) much easier. That's just kinda blending the character to the actors outward quirks, you still have to incorporate a huge amount of stuff that isn't you for the camera since for example Roman is very far out there example of a person.

Roman's costumes are TIIIIGHT
They are all well tailored.
They are tailored to him, really high-end stuff, the kind of tailoring that fits real close but simultaneously has a lot of mobility built into it.
You can tell he puts the most thought and effort into his personal appearance out of all the characters on the show, with all the color-coordination, hairgel, the perpetual 5 o’clock shadow.
It's so weird to think that Kieran was originally called to read for Cousin Gregg - but he saw the dialog in the script, recorded himself as Roman - and there you go. Perfection!
he would have been great also as Cousin Greg!

Kieran has to be one of the top tier guests in any talk show. He just sets up stories so well that the pay off/punchline is just so hilarious.
The audience is cheering because Joe Walsh was fully rocking the house during the commercial break. I sure hope they post it.

Kieran Culkin as Roman Roy is a definition of Perfect Casting!!!
His reaction to the failure to launch was magnificent.
Also, I believe Roman and Shiv are the only two characters in the show that truly understand one another, 100%.
I think Kieran is someone people either love and laugh with, or can not stand for over 2 seconds. And refuse to believe there is any overlap.
I've never seen him. The irritable snarky act didn't do it for me. Guess I'm in the second camp. I'd have loved to have heard Joe Walsh's solo though. Damn.

@@reillywadsworth5633 At first, they asked him to audition for Greg but he didn't think it was right for it. When he read the script he liked Roman's character so he send them auditions tape as Roman and that's how he got it!

I've never watched Succession, but Kieran Culkin is great in everything I've seen him in. I loved Igby Goes Down, Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, Scott Pilgrim...and his interviews are hilarious. Both him and Mac have a lot of charm. I wanna watch Succession just for him. But I'm already knee deep in so many shows
Succession is just 3 seasons so far, and you'll blaze through. Culkin is amazing in it.
SUCCESSION is a treat as well as a fine show, I found its humour stress-releasing thus far. Hope you find a slot for it in your Streaming capacity, I relate as I am also in the habit of watching Drama after Drama after Drama x!
You must watch it. Kieran is brilliant, I think it's his best work ever. The relationship between him and Gerry is hilarious and sick at the same time. Succession is without a doubt one of the best shows ever.
I was late to the Sucession train but I finished the 2 seasons in a week before season 3 premiered last year. It is so good and addictive.
You should change that. Season 1 and 2 is a wild ride and season 3 is a very interesting character study.
Kieran’s Roman in the initial trailers is the entire reason I started watching Succession in the first place. So funny!

Not know Succession exists until I found Roman Roy video edit on Tiktok and I decided to watch the show , It turn out this is the best show so incredible can’t stop watching it!!! I missed the beginning of Kieran's story when this aired, so the entire time he was telling it I didn't know if he was describing real life or a scene in the show. That's how close these actors are to their characters

Sadly HBO canceled Westworld and pulled it from HBOMax too, Westworld also used to break records with the Emmys back in the day I don't understand how they can treat an HBO original with such a top tier cast so poorly.
