The way he plays this is not how the band played it though. Hes playing 2 parts simultaneously in certain places so yea it looks harder than it is in this case
This is one of Metallica's easiest songs to play. Justin is never playing two parts at the same time; in the intro he plays the intro chords and the bass riff "at the same time" but that's it
i have never seen anyone master every song like justin has i’ll scroll through and see videos of people trying to teach lessons and theirs are just slightly off but justin gets it right every single time!!!🤘🤘
I bought the metallica tab book with all the songs from their classics and your playing it the same way that my tab book is teaching me ...I. am starting to understand tabs much better

Fantastic as usual. Since you're taking Metallica requests, here are mine: Master of Puppets, One, Sad But True, Whiskey in the Jar. In fact, perhaps a fun video idea might be covering and then comparing/contrasting Thin Lizzy & Metallica's versions of Whiskey in the Jar.
Good idea... and the original, just to see how its changed since it was written in the 17 th century (Whisky in a Jar” is actually on old Irish traditional song that was called “The Highwayman and The Captain”).
Justin, you know what’s cool about this song? Everything!! Nice lesson sir! My 10yr old daughter and I are both learning this piece together…And nothing is cooler than that. Keep up the good work 🤘🏼
You break down songs into really easy to follow tutorials and you are such a friendly bloke while doing it. Love this channel. How about a Volbeat song like Lola Montez? Or maybe an Airbourne song? 😉
Love how you went with just basic tone. Most UA-camrs wouldn't have dared teach this song without a ton of effects. Your confidence is not lost on me....and garners my respect! Also, it's a lot easier to follow your lesson without all that gain, delay, etc......
For anyone interested, the original recording is not in standard tuning. (I believe it’s slightly sharp) However you can find pitch corrected versions of the songs from The Ride the Lightning album all over UA-cam that allow you to play along with the record in standard tuning……if you’re too lazy to tune your guitar to the record like me.
Justin, I am a beginner who wants to learn blues guitar. You have so many videos. Where do I start. You mention 'you should have learned that in an earlier lesson'. Your help is much appreciated. Confused to where to begin.
If you play along to the album it will sound ever so slightly out. This is because on the recording the guitars were tuned to a roughly a quarter step above standard tuning to match the tuning of the bells in the intro.
Absolutely smashed it buddy!! Love this done and love your channel, found you years back now! Made my weekend seeing you do a Metallica one 👍 Cheers buddy
As a beginner trying to learn power chords, this was awesome. I'd love to see a lesson for "Creeping Death". The power chords progression in that song seems easy enough for beginners. And it's a kick ass song!
Yes as pretty much a beginner too it's a good song to learn. Unfortunately on the main riff there's a tricky hammer on and pull off. And whilst the power chord stuff looks pretty easy I you really appreciate how Hetfield plays it so fast and precisely with down picking.
Hi Justin, Thanks a lot for the lessons. I will definitely learn this after getting the outro from fade to black right from your lesson. Please do a lesson on the song Mama said by Metallica if you can find the time for it. Thanks again for all your lessons. ❤️
Don't get me wrong, I love Cliff, he is an awesome player, and this is an epic song; but it is really one of the easiest metallica songs and bass lines. It is not "really hard stuff" on bass.
I think the chorus riff has a very short E between A and Bb.... I'm not sure it it's because the string is ringing as he pulls off and hits the Bb on the 6th fret...
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the suggestion. the guitar during the chorus Youre missing an entire note and it sounds so wrong ... i just dont get it ...there easiest song and Youre leaving out a whole piece ....
1st of all The opening of the song is done on a bass guitar by Cliff Burton... And that is not the right notation for this song at all. Learn who the artist is before you play the artist.
And another one? wow. At least do me the courtesy of listening to the first 20 seconds of speaking where I say about CB's amazing playing. And I'm pretty sure the rest is very close, if not spot on. So gimme a break!

This is great! Thanks Justin. This is one of my favourite Metallica songs.

Go to guitar365, Carl is great and doing almost exclusively metal and rock

Glad to see some more regular tutorials from you. You always have taught things very well
I have been wanting you to do this song forever, so excited!
Wow what a cover!!! You're the man!
This is the song that made me get a guitar. I had just bought the CD and was on my way to school and put it in the deck. A cliff event in my life

I'm sorry but what sort of effects do you suggest others would've used on this song? It was recorded with an ESP Explorer into a Marshall amp.

You’re right and I forgot to mention it. I use Transcribe! Software and I just bump it down I think 30 cents…
MOST DAWS will let you fine tune pitch on a recording!
This song is a classic! Lovely seeing you do a lesson on this, cheers Justin!
You rock Justin!
Justin is just incredible.
More Metallica!
Great lesson Justin. More Metallica songs pls. Your tutorials are fantastic.
Such a good song on a brilliant album 💿🎸

I appreciate you counting each section. Really clicks when trying to figure out how to play it, and I can also play along with you. Amazin teacher!
The SG sound is easily recognisable. 😎
Indeed!
Justin "head banging" Guitars!!!!!!!!! \m/
I been waiting for you to do this✅, 😂 however it’s different to how I tried to learn it before. But hey at it’s more learning to do thank you 👌
YEEEEEES FINALLY!!!
Awesome lesson, thanks! Creeping death next please!
Not a Metallica request but I have been looking for someone to do a full lesson of Bad Conpany - Shooting Star (solo included)

Can you do Fade to Black next?
He already did fade to black, there is a tutorial for acoustic and electric.
@@JS_Guitar09 I didn’t realise, thanks!
I like it, Metallica was really my thing as a teenager. That SG would be happy to cover some Mastodon tunes too ;)
Outstanding
Rock n Roll music

Tuning?
I want to see Justin playing Master of Puppets so I can die in peace.
I think everyone would agree that this is the easiest/easier Metallica song to play.
❓Question for you Justin. Do you memorise these songs or are you reading from a TAB.❓ Amazing stuff either way.
I think he works them out by ear and puts them down on paper
Amazing tone Justin! What gear do you use? Especially amp? :)
Kemper. I say exactly at the end.
@@JustinGuitarSongs Great, thank you so much!

The thing that should not be.

Everybody knows that. 🙄
He's obviously condensing the whole song to make it fit into his signature style of video intro.
really? thanks for letting me know. It's not like I mentioned that as soon as I started talking. *clap*
