  • Wow! What a gem of an airgun. I bought this on a whim as I wanted something different and wasn’t expecting to like a target rifle so much. It really is a great shooting gun.
    As always I either already owned or buy the guns featured on my channel with my own money for full price. I usually purchase from Amazon as they offer free shipping to Alaska and hassle free returns. I’ve bought three brand new garbage airguns so far this year so being able to return junk for a full refund is very important to me as it’s MY money.
    I hope you enjoy the video!
    Update!
    I made a couple of mistakes in the video. The receiver is metal as is the pump handle. Very cool! Also the loading port is the same as an 880. In my mind I was thinking about the 840 I’d shot previously and had made a prior video on.

    I have 2 of those guns. I have the new one like you have and then. I bought an older one at the flea market. That was immaculate, but the guy said it wouldn't pump. He didn't know it was only a single pump. He was trying to pump it up and he said it wouldn't work. I knew it was only a single pump so I Told him I would give him 20 bucks for it. I brought it home. Cleaned it up real nice, stained, a black glaze over the original stock and it's beautiful so I have 2 of them and they are both extremely accurate, I've only shot at indoors 10 meters Never really dared to stretch it out any further but I will Try it I think Nice review

      Thanks! They are a really nice air rifle! I’m planning to correct a couple mistakes I made in the video as it has a metal receiver and pump handle. I’d watched a video of a 753 or older version of this gun and it said both parts were made of plastic. I didn’t look more closely into it until after the video as I was wondering where the weight came from compared to an 880.
      I’m getting mine dialed in but want to test some different pellets. I’m riding pretty good accuracy at 35 yds and that keeps improving the more I shoot the gun and get used to it.

      I know, the Norica suckered all of us! I went back and edited my video titles hoping to warn guys about my experience.
      I’m pretty confident this one will be good for years to come, but I’m going to do some reading to see if anyone mentions that loose feel I noticed on the intake stroke. It just struck me as odd, like something needs to be tightened down. I think it should be alright as the gun is so gentle to shoot that it doesn’t produce forces to wear itself out.

      Oh gawd no! 😆 I remember seeing those last year and initially I liked the concept but then read the terrible reviews. I’m staying far, far away.
      So far I’m really liking this Daisy. I paid attention tonight and the weird “looseness” I felt is just the feel of the intake stroke. It’s the same each time, I’m guessing it has something to do with the mechanism to achieve 500 fps on a single pump.
      I’m really digging the gun so far!

    hello alaska, this daisy has the concept of a 10 m target gun . the power . the dioptersight , the barrel and single stroke compression, , daisy is owend by gamo , bsa also . the best match pellets are H&N match, RWS 10 m match and Qiang YUan pellets . and choose the best headsize . 4,47 to 4,53

    • @thatalaskaguy-airguns
      @thatalaskaguy-airguns  4 місяці тому +1

      Great info! I tried a Crosman brown box premier in it last night and it was very difficult to chamber. Would that be caused by a larger head size than it likes? I was going to see what match pellets are available on Amazon (free shipping). I tried Excite Hammers
      last night and they fed okay but weren’t as accurate as Meisterkugeln.
      It’s a really cool gun. I bought it on kind of a whim with my refund from the junk show Norica. I like it 1000% better than the Norica. I think I’m finding I’m partial to pneumatics over all other airgun types.

      @@peteralexben I’ll do some more research and measure head sizes of my existing stock of pellets. I looked up the R10 pellets and they are not cheap. Since I’m not doing competition shooting I don’t want to spend the money for those. I did find the Qing Yuan pellets and ordered some of those. H&N match were really spendy as well.

    If you can get your hands on some Ruger HP pellets, try them in this gun. I have 2 of the wooden stocked versions of this gun that you can get, rebuilt, from the DCM for $125 + shipping and they both shoot sub 1/2" groups at 20 yards with that pellet. I tested 50+ pellets and they are the ones that do best past 10 meters.

    I own an older 853 that I bought used (it was resealed). Awesome accuracy 😀. I use the post style insert in mine and it works great for me. My peep sight does not have the large eye cup which I think would be nice to have. My copy also has a wooden stock with metal receiver and pump arm. When shooting off hand, I think the composite stock would be the better option compared to a hevier wood stock. Thanks for sharing your experience with your 753.

      I really, really like this gun! 😀 I’m discovering quirks with pneumatics in below freezing temps but as long as nothing breaks I’m happy. I want to find a front post insert for the front sight as that’ll work better for silhouettes and cans at longer ranges. The diopter sights don’t work very good for me in lower light conditions that I have so much of this time of year.
      Looking at my targets over the past few days I could actually shoot the gun more accurately at paper targets with the iron sights compared to the scope. That really surprised me. I don’t have a super expensive scope on the gun but it’s not a cheap junker either. It’s a $50 Tasco 4x32 that has a pretty thin reticle.
      I’m looking forward to trying my skills at 10m shooting.

    It does seem like a great option for targets, the low power must mean stress on the gun is very low too so it'll probably last a long time. We really need a pellet pen that drops them in sideways though.

    • @thatalaskaguy-airguns
      @thatalaskaguy-airguns  4 місяці тому

      I was thinking about that yesterday. The single pump has to be easier on the whole gun compared to the pump handle banging away on the compression tube multiple times for every shot.
      What really surprised me was how solid the entire gun feels. I was expecting something that looked & felt kinda cheap as the Amazon reviews had some people complaining about the plastic stock.
      Loading is easier than an 880 but still a bit finicky mainly due to the small size of the .177 pellets and that I’m wearing gloves. I’m finding I quickly adapt but a sideways pellet pen would be interesting!

    • @yoitired
      @yoitired 4 місяці тому

      @@thatalaskaguy-airguns Yeah it's a really interesting system I never thought about single stroke pneumatic (SSP?) before. I'm guessing there aren't a lot of them because of the low power. I wonder if it has a relief valve or mechanism to prevent more than 1 pump, I'd probably forget and go over the 1 pump max and need some bozo-proofing😄 Walnut and Steel is giving the Dream Hunter a try I'm curious how his turns out, man if 2 in a row publicly break Norica will really need to step it up.

      @@yoitired I watched his video on the Norica and am curious how his will work out. He asked me about mine on UA-cam before he got his. Norica finally emailed me back about my gun a couple weeks ago. They apparently aren’t set up to monitor emails even though it went to the main email right on their website. Anyways, the guy was nice and said they could help with parts if I couldn’t get help from my vendor. He said they relied on their vendors/distributors for warranty and customer support.
      I’m really liking the 753 so far. 500 fps hasn’t seemed underpowered but once I take the targets out to 35 & 50 yds we’ll see. What I love the most is the single pump and no recoil. It’s just so easy to get into a flow while you shoot. It’s similar to a break barrel with the lack of effort to cock and load but you don’t have to put up with recoil or holding the gun weird. All this gushing over it has to do with how I like to shoot and my range set up. The 753 wouldn’t be for everyone depending on their airgun needs, how they like to shoot and expectations on how versatile an airgun should be. I’m fortunate to have such a huge collection of airguns that I can get models specialized for particular niches.but, the 753 is a lot more versatile than I expected.

    • @yoitired
      @yoitired 4 місяці тому

      @@thatalaskaguy-airguns Huh well that's cool about Norica, kinda surprising they don't watch their email but at least they're willing to send parts.
      Seems like a lot of airgunning is about balancing the plusses and minuses and sounds like the 753 eliminates some of the big minuses of other systems. Makes a ton of sense to not use hunting power for range shooting if you don't need to. I kinda like power for the weight cus I'm always running around in the woods when airgunning and get excited about taking long shots, yesterday I was out shooting puddles and icesicles from the top of a hill😁But once the snow is deep I'll just stay in the basement and shoot a lot I could see the 753 being perfect for that.

    • @thatalaskaguy-airguns
      @thatalaskaguy-airguns  4 місяці тому

      @@yoitired I too thought it was pretty ridiculous that it took them over two weeks to respond to an email sent to the address shown on their website.
      Yesterday I tried the 753 out to 35 yds and there was significant pellet drop. I had to raise the elevation on my scope a huge amount. I remember shooting my Bakail MP-61 at long range and it was quite accurate but it took the pellet a long, long time to hit the target. I enjoyed shooting that gun until it jammed multiple pellets into the barrel.
      I’ve got some higher quality match pellets on the way and am curious to see how they do in the 753. Since the vast majority of my shooting is at cans, silhouettes and targets on my range the 753 has been working great for that. I’m curious to see what kind of accuracy at longer ranges it provides compared to my other more powerful guns.

  • @barnygogl
    @barnygogl 4 місяці тому

    Maybe that large rear sight is blocking too much light allowing your pupil to open up a bit too much for a clear pic The day looks a little dim also In spite of that you're shooting pretty fair I'd say Is the rear sight some sort of lens optic or a very large peep?

    • @thatalaskaguy-airguns
      @thatalaskaguy-airguns  4 місяці тому +1

      It’s a peep sight with a very small hole. I’m going to look to see if there is any adjustment that can be made to the size? I suspect it’s specialized for 10 meters?
      I was struggling with light in the video as the camera made it appear brighter than it was. The iron sights are amazing for paper targets in bright light but I was shooting it tonight in the dark with a light on my target and it wasn’t great. I’d like to try a post style insert for the front sight.
      I also need to make my targets lower so my back drop isn’t the woods but instead the snow.
      The gun is very accurate. I wasn’t doing it justice in the video but I’m really happy with its performance.

      I’ve got three PCP’s, a 1st year Marauder rifle and 1st year Marauder pistol and a Maximus. The Marauders are really nice but I hate charging them with my hand pump. I like the P-rod the best as I’ve got a stock on it and it’s fun to shoot. My Maximus was kind of disappointing as it’s really loud and even though it’s a 2000 psi fill I didn’t realize I’d have to recharge it roughly every 30 shots. I also don’t like how it’s not balanced when carrying it on your shoulder with a sling.
      I’ve got a Hatsan model 95 springer that is my most disliked rifle. It recoils terribly, ruined a scope, sheared off its scope stop screw and is just generally unpleasant to shoot. If I knew how to run a promotional giveaway/drawing on my channel I’d get rid of it in that manner. The stupid thing gets views, I don’t understand why?
      I like my German and English springers but I’ve found when I just want to shoot for fun in the yard I more often than not grab one of my pneumatics.
