I am learning all I can about preserving and canning. I am a noob, a little nervous, and scared, but I want to fill up a pantry. Ty, for sharing your knowledge.
Definitely I will try canning my tomatoes. I usually freeze over the winter months. I usually have tomatoes throughout the year. Now canning is a must. Ready to go 😘
Good looking tomatoes Liz. But I just use them all, including the big ones. And any color. Where's your salt? And use a wooden spoon to get the air bubbles out. Never metal. Beautiful!
Great video. But you should never use metal, Like a spoon, On the inside of your jar because it could actually scratch it. And the jar might break if you use it for pressure canning. Just to heads up. Your tomatoes look beautiful!
Question for the veteran canners here: is it normal to have a little residue of tomato on the outside of the jar after pulling it out of the water bath? This has been the case with my first attempts at this method, even though the lids sealed and theres air space inside the jars. Why is this?
The jars don't fully seal until they sit for a while. As they cool down, hot air escapes and eventually - if you're standing around them - you'll hear the lid pop. While they're in the water bath, you'll notice air bubbles escaping from the jar into the water, so if there are tomatoes in the jars some of that material is likely to escape.

Thanks Liz! I just received my water bath canning kit and your video gave me enough detail to get started!
Great instructions.
Your voice is amazing
Great video and wonderful information
Your information has inspired me to include canning some of my tomatoes this year.
These tomatoes are delicious in soups and spaghetti sauces plus red rice!!
So do you leave the jars in the water at a full boil for 1 hr 25 minutes? Thanks in advance.
An hour, twenty minutes? I hope that was just a commentary error. Generally water bath is 40 minutes.
I. Reading the same out of the ball book
Looks like she did the method where no additional liquid is added. Ball book says 85 minutes
@@joeworden825 40 minutes is for pints I believe. I don’t have my ball book with me right now
Thk you very informative. Don't worry about those nay sayers out there, we don't see their videos.
Water bath for an HOUR AND 25 mins?
GREAT video. Ty

Thank you for the tip. I'll make sure not to use this in future

Deliciuos! When do you store them..and for how long
Hi Liz I have a question does the lemon juice or citric acid change the flavor of your tomatoes, does it give it a tangy taste Thanks
No, it does not. 👍
It’s actually addictive!
I absolutely LOVE and can’t get enough.. I pop open a can of canned tomatoes and eat the entire jar!!
They will not change the taste. But some people use vinegar, which definitely will!
Nice nails
I just use my method
thank you love👍
