I know exactly where Ollie is coming from!! We set ourselves goals in life, once you achieved that goal, it's on to the next. For me, my greatest goal, was having my two kids, that changed everything, gave me a purpose and still does today. But, never ignore your dreams, the greatest gift in life.....to be content and happy. Then you have achieved and justified your existence. (It's getting old, and being less physically fit, that is the killer)!!! Lol. True.
Its the male journey. For me it was film making, for him it was service. In reality, its stage 1 of manhood, 18-30, we have this subconscious desire to prove we belong and are reliable and self sufficient. That we can do it. When we have proven this to ourselves something tragic/magical happens... this mountain we anchored ourselves to and always trusted crumbles beneath us. Our moral values shift. In many ways its devastating. We then realize what really matters... true companionship, children perhaps... we stop living for ourselves. I think its only at this stage, stage 2 (30-50) that we should partner up and start families, when we are ready to commit.. maybe im wrong. Womens lives, due to nature, is a different course. They need to have children younger for the health of the children, and enter the workforce later, but this is a discussion for another vid. Point i am getting at... yes to this. Ive experienced a similar path in another course. God speed.
The special forces are basically highly intelligent psychopaths. These people were made for the job they couldn't do a 9 till 5 . Total respect for all they do . Just wish they'd get more help from the people who send them to war after they're done
Try just being any good at all as a regular Infantryman, any use to your buddies and not just some slack-jawed liability, and you'll find it's a bit harder than a fucking first aid card.

That’s not really true. There will be psychopaths, and it helps if they are. But they’re not all psychopaths

I always think of the SAS /SBS like this .The regular army is someone with a first aid card and special forces is somebody who's a brain surgeon

The special forces guys always seem very high IQ
