EDIT: I was using an older version of GDMenu, the latest version has a toggle for Openmenu, you will still have to add the menu_data files for Openmenu. This solved the blank screen error.
Great tutorial. Followed it and it worked perfectly. For those who don't know, you can easily update your GUI on Dreamcast on an existing GDEMU SD card without having to recopy games or anything like that. Super easy. Just follow this tutorial! : )

I did this and it works. Is there a way to skip the boot up when selecting a game? Also, every time I exit the menu to check my memory card I have to turn off the console, otherwise, the openmenu will load but the games won’t boot. Any suggestions?
is there any other way to return to openmenu after selecting a game besides abxy-start which resets the whole console? like going back to menu directly without resetting is what im asking. thanks

In (GDEMU) I have the option to enable and disable VGA mode, because some games do not work with VGA mode enabled ok, Now when I install (OPENMENU) ''the most beautiful menu" the VGA mode option is enabled by default and I can no longer play games that are not compatible with VGA mode, could you check on your (OPENMENU) how do I enable and disable VGA mode?
I'm having the same problem. OpenMenu is not launhing non-compatible VGA games - it's like the Force VGA option in OpenMenu is not working. Did you ever find a fix?

It works with the openmenu_7-05-21 version but not with the openmenu_7-14-21 version. Screen goes black after the SEGA logo and the VMU beeps until forever. idk if all this issues are because the clone gdemu or also occurs with the original.
Has anyone managed to make this work on Mac OS? Followed instructions to the letter, all seems to work as expected until it boots on the console, it recognises GD Menu is on there as you get the SEGA logo after the Dreamcast boot screen but it then just goes to a black screen instead of the carousel
Are there any limitations to how many games you can import at once into the SD card maker program? I know madsheeps one spazzed out if you put in anymore than 50 at one time?
Better late than never, but I just created a brand new SD card from scratch using this method with nearly 230 discs in one go, and it took a few hours, but worked without issue. EDIT: It turns out that it actually did mess up after disc 138. Everything looked fine in explorer and the program, but the Dreamcast would not recognize any game beyond that.
@@techkingonline Update: I later discovered that it did actually mess up after disc 138. Every file was in place and recognized by the program, but no game beyond that was recognized by the Dreamcast. I deleted the faulty files and replaced them in batches.
I would do the tutorial again step by step including downloading openmenu again and don't forget to delete the content of the folder as in video mentioned.

yes, it can be done with a memory with games... only delete the folder 01 and the GDEMU file from the root, and do the procedure from the beginning

No problem. Maybe its the old save file that leads to the black screen. You could delete the gdemu save file and try again.
