I started watching your videos because I want to travel to Dili this year. I’m from Nadi, Fiji and great to see you there . I moved to Australia in 1984, so a lot of changes since then. I grew up in the Namaka/airport area and hope to make it back there in a few months.
Interesting coincidence! I stayed in Namaka at Vunisalato Street / Kakala Road (at service apartments) my last 3 nights and used to stroll around Namaka neighborhood in the evening a lot to see how locals live, very lovely area to live in. Since you live in Australia, there are quite convenient regular flights from Darwin to Dili, so much better than flying to Bali in my case.
Some may consider it 3rd world but being an American who splits my time between the two. The economy in Fiji is much more vibrant .there are very few closed storefront even after COVID. Which amazes me as the minimum wage in Fiji is around $1.75 an hour
This is a new government.. the new minimum wage is $4 across the board for unskilled job, later in the yr..it will go up to $5.. It's fijis minimum wages now
@@SoAndrew easy to mistake. I know it's where most Australian and American go but I've only been to Denerau twice. I can see millionaires houses in the states . My place is on Wailoloa road . I'd rather spend time with the locals
Beautiful ❤

In travel guides it's said they are the friendliest nation ☺

You must visit an island called Taveuni and is know as the Garden Island of Fiji🤝
Yes, in by list... there is also an international date line goes through the island 👍
When you first said you were in Nadi you were in Namaka quite a way from Nadi and the McDonald's
@@jamescook9661 Yes, only later I realized it after studying Google Maps. Nadi metro area is quite large...
