You're right, ASMR is the most saturated niche on UA-cam and it's proving difficult to the point of reconsideration. I'm going to stick it out for a while but I might have to rethink this soon if the channel doesn't give any returns.

I came to this channel after searching for asmr. I saw an older dude doing asmr thought that it was cool because not many other older people do asmr but man I digress this is amazing!
Well, welcome to my channel ❤️ Thank you for this comment, I don't know why older people aren't into ASMR. You'd think it should be the opposite as the older you get, the harder it is to sleep. I remember in my 20's I could sleep for like 12hrs straight! Now, I'm getting 4-5hrs tops and ASMR really helps me to switch off. Maybe it's because a lot of people my age can't even figure out how to switch a device on or how to get it onto the internet 😂 Anyway, I digress too.... Edit: The more I watch of this the more blown away I am by the quality. I think when the quality gets good like this (take asmr zeitgeist) you run the risk of the video being too "sterile" or the triggers being too stiff. this strikes a really good balance of being high quality, but also just sounding plain good, instead of being so formal and sterile that it makes me feel like I'm in for a medical exam, which is indeed not comfortable or sleep-inducing for me at all. love it and ill definitely be using these vids to sleep
Thanks for subbing, welcome to the channel and stay tuned as I'll be uploading as regularly as I possibly can 🥰🥰 I noticed your original comment before you edited it, where you asked if these are looped scenes. I thought I'd just let you know that they aren't looped, every scene is unique. If they're a bit repetitive it's because I just can't help myself. Sometimes I get tuned into the sound and instead of moving on, I just change up the tempo or the pressure on the trigger. So whilst it does sound repetitive, the sound actually changes every couple of minutes, albeit subtly. I listen to my own ASMR to sleep and I prefer the long, extended scenes as I don't get woken by the transition that way 😴
With Zeitgeist, I've had similar comments and I've tried to explain this in the past but I can hear his audio too and he's defo using software to save time and process/normalise the volume. It's really easy in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci to just press a button that tweaks all your highs and lows and spits out a new, processed audio file where the volume is magically constant at one level. Brilliant tool if you're editing a podcast or something but for ASMR it strips out all of those tingly, nuance frequencies that get right into the spine. I've tried the magic button and I love how quick it is as it would save me 20hrs in editing a video but I don't like the end result. When I compare the un-processed audio to the processed version it sounds flat, monotoned and as you call it, "static". I just prefer to keep the audio as recorded, straight off the mic. So, what you hear on my channel is unedited, clean and RAW audio. The only processing I do is piecing everything together and manually adjusting the gain on each scene. Manually adjusting the gain is what takes so much time.
Sorry for the long reply, I just like to explain this as people are hearing that there's a difference between Zeitgeist and ASMRtroops but they can't put their finger on it as to why. ^This is why ^ ❤️
@@ASMRtroops I appreciate the detailed reply. I can definitely tell the difference between the raw audio and the edited then, if what you say is true. I also prefer your visual editing because while it is clean and simple, it's not overly so. I believe zeitgeist edits his to be kind of artificial looking, and it just totally takes me out of relaxation mode, especially because his videos are usually very bright. He has an animated face on his mic, for Pete's sake. I always prefer an asmrtist that keeps it authentic and distraction-free, and your videos are perfect because they are dark + simple and straight to the point. It looks great visually but it is not overly concerned with the flashy aesthetic appeal (which, why should it be, we're supposed to be sleeping to this). Very practical in its lighting and editing and it basically knocked me out last night. thanks for what you do
Well, I think Zeitgeist has been doing it for so long and making so much money from it that he's just gone full scale Hollywood on his setup. He puts so much into it and his imagination is so vivid. His lighting and videography are top notch 'production quality' but I get what you're saying about it being too polished. A lot of his videos have neon lighting which I'm not a fan of. I prefer his older stuff to be honest. Thank you, yes I made all of the mics myself. It's way cheaper than buying them, and I get to use better mic capsules than the off-shelf models. Also, I think the textures from them provide an extra layer of nuance in the sound as they're not made from polished smooth plastic so the surfaces interact better with microfibers and you can hear the difference. I'm biased though I guess 🥰🥰

My Claymore is also my favourite, I love the texture on the surface of the terracotta beneath his paint and I really liked his debut ASMR. I'll 100% be using him again but it might be an overhead, immersive video next time round. Do you have recordings of the process of making Longheart, and if so do you plan on making a video about making them?
I don't video the heads being made. I have a pretty cluttered workshop set up in a 40ft container in the back of my property and setting up lighting, mics and cameras would be a chore. I could use a phone to film the work but I think it'd look terrible 🤔🥰
This head is actually a cold cast bronze overlaying a solid ceramic busk, so it's not as skilful as you think. It's not solid bronze, but it's really effective and the sound from him is solid too. He weights close to 30lbs so the density is a big bonus when it comes to sound reflection and you can definitely hear the difference compared to the hollow fibreglass head-mics 🤎

In my opinion the reason i think you dont get as much views as deserved is because its sponsored and while just scrolling it looks alot like an ad and not a video i may be wrong tho.
I promote some of my videos, but promotions account for only a percentage of the views on the video that's promoted. Even promoted videos still get organic traffic from search results and from UA-cam Recommendations too.
Promotions help a lot. I've tested promoted vs non-promoted videos and promotion helps for sure.
The reasons that the channel isn't as big as other channels are numerous but promotions are helping, not hindering. The reasons are to do with (a) the age of the channel (only 5 months). (b) the excessively long videos (therefore low percentage watch time). (c) low subscriber count which just takes time to build.
I think I just need to keep at it and hopefully the channel will continue to grow. 8k subs in about 5 months is pretty good I'm told?

How skilled you are just to think about making mics by yourself! Most of asmrartists just record their vids with a "naked" mic hahah. It's lovely to watch a video pleasuring both the eyes and ears. I wonder if you are/were once a film director, because it the quality makes me refuse to believe that one day you just decided to "Ah, let's try" and bought all the stuff.

Thank you, I'll hopefully be here for the long haul making these videos too. I'm not a film director, not even a photographer, I literally decided to try ASMR. It was a steep learning curve having to absorb videography, photography, audio science, lighting, mic and camera choices and all the software that goes along with it too. I've always been good with my hands though and I'm a fast learner, so making things is second nature. I'm just stoked to receive so many encouraging and flattering comments on my work so far but I am genuinely a beginner so the best is yet to come. I can feel myself improving with every video 🥰🥰

I've never played VR games, they look awesome but I've just never had time to play games really. To be honest I was kinda hoping that VR gaming would have progressed faster than it has with cerebral cortex plug-ins - I think that's coming still. Elon Musk's Neuralink could be the stepping stone into that world.
