  • Many newcomer students across the city have recently immigrated to Canada to reunite with a parent and struggled with the transition into a new school and a new life. After extended periods of long-distance relationships, students felt disconnected from their parents and parents felt estranged from their children.
The Re-Connect program was developed by TDSB Newcomer Services - Welcoming Communities to enable students to share experiences in a safe forum, discuss healthy coping strategies, and participate in activities to relieve some of their stress. The program has helped students build new friendships, connect with their school and community, and re-connect with their parents.
The video is a collection of quotes and stories shared in the Re-Connect program.
