    Hello everyone!!! Most of my viewers will notice there is new intro and outro music on this video. Some people love the old music while others were asking me to change it up. Especially the horns intro.....people either loved it or they hated it. So, I thought I would try something new and see how the viewers like this music. Leave me a comment with your thoughts. As always, thanks for watching and God bless!!!

    Great rigging job Team Ron! It would be really interesting to see how the tractor driver finally secured his loads and placarded his freight. If I saw these trailers coming up behind me, I would be giving him an extremely wide right of way. The quicker these sea containers passed me, the happier I would be for sure.

    To be able to straight lift a load that size on an extended boom...what an amazing piece of work that rotator is!
    I can't begin to imagine the sort of fees you have to charge just to break even on the depreciation alone...what an immense act of faith for what is, after all a family concern...Respect!

    One thing to remember is that the crane operator is NOT responsible for the truckers job of tying down the load or making sure the load and trailer is legal. The crane operator is being paid to pick up a load from point "A" and place it at Point "B". Makes no difference to him whether it is a motor vehicle or a big rock on the ground. His only responsibility is to SAFELY move the load between those two points.

    • @RonPratt
      @RonPratt  6 років тому +12

      Thank you for clarifying that. A lot of people have been critical of the trailers, containers, etc. As you stated, my job was to safely load the containers. Well said. God bless.

    • @stormdancer1378
      @stormdancer1378 4 роки тому

      @@RonPratt I know the legalities of load and trailer are not yours but I can't help but think "What are they doing?! You can hardly see the lights on the trailers because of the excessive over hang." I couldn't have done it. Would have felt responsible for overall safety. Job well done as always.

    Just an idea for if you are in that situation again. When you drag a container put another strap between your hooks, and use the green painted winch (i believe you call it a drag or tow winch) to pull it towards the truck while the boom lifts weight off of that end. Hope it helps. Keep up the great vids.

    Nice work Ron! As a crane guy, the angle of the rigging looks pretty shallow. Ideal angle would be closer to 60 degrees. At the angle the straps are in on the containers, the straps will have a lot more than half the weight of the load. Actually, each end will have close to 100% of the load weight. It looks like you are at max boom length though. So, I understand the shallow angle. Just an observation. I love your channel and the work you do! Keep up the good work and videos!

    • @RonPratt
      @RonPratt  6 років тому +18

      Yes, with the long containers it is difficult for me to get the correct veer angle. I still had more stick, but the wind was blowing pretty good towards the truck, so I choose to keep the stick in and the angles tighter. Thankfully, neither of these cans were very heavy. Thank, be safe and God bless.

      Ron Pratt, nothing like working with large, flat objects in the wind! Seems like it can be dead calm, and as soon as I pick something, the wind starts blowing. Also, that is one heck of a nice truck you have there! Thanks for doing what you do, and taking us along on the adventures! Be safe out there, my fellow Missouri friend.

    Mr Pratt, just an idea with containers to give you more stability and control. Rigging the blue & white as you did, but then rig the red & yellow to their respective upper corners on the side closest to the rotator. Just a little tension on red & yellow and you'll have some of the swing tamed and you can more easily steer the container in the air.

    • @RonPratt
      @RonPratt  6 років тому +1

    It would probably have been safer for them to have had the containers lifted and moved with a hydraulic side lifter container truck, they come in several lengths and can handle most modern shipping containers by simply picking them up from one side and lifting them directly onto the bed of the truck. But there are times when you just can't get them in to do the job for you, when that happens Ron is always there with his Rotator! :D

    I have to wonder if the customers expectation was the cans stacked 3 high with a gas tank on top of the stack were really not going to fall over in the first mile. He had open space on the floor but stacked paint cans??? Amazing! I want to see the video of when he opens the doors at the destination point, LOL. My only bad thought was, "Why would he leave the Vette parked there rather than move it just in case the box shifted or a strap let go.

      I have to think the very same thing--not much job site prepration by the customer at all. All that junk lying around the first container--un sure footing at best. And the person that pulled thru the cones--why did they think (if they thought at all)-were the cones there for? Duh! Got to spend you time moving stuff out of the way that you could have been on the way to another call- yes--trying to keep your mouth shut, but sometimes just so hard.

    Ron these containers make only 3 or 4 trips across the oceans before they get "retired" due to how the salt water attacks the hinges & the steel.

    It seems to me that the trailers were a bit short for 40 foot boxes. Did the boxes get flags to protect the overhang?
    Great video Ron and Mike.
    Mike, the health and safety guy in me says thank you for putting that ladder out of the way before the lift on the first box. Some would have just dropped the ladder anywhere for someone to trip over. Lying down and against the fence was a good location.
    Oh, and I liked the music. 👍

    This video illustrates Ron Pratt's interpretation of "Click and Drag" (a simple PC/Mouse operation) :)
