@@samanthasimoneau7722 I actually got hired through Native Health Services because I am part of the native American tribe I currently work for. I was initially in Medical records for 2-3 months and then applied for the Coding position and got it! I've been in there for over a year now and I am now CPC certified and currently working on my CPMA cert. I encourage all to apply EVERYWHERE!! EVEN IF THEY SAY THEY REQUIRE x AMT OF EXPERIENCE. APPLY ANYWAY. You never know where your luck may land.

I use dual monitors in office but on my remote days I thug it out with just my laptop lol. Love your setup, thinking about getting dual monitors at home to make my workflow more efficient. It really helps to have one monitor for reviewing documentation and the other to enter codes!! Thanks for sharing!

I just started school to become a medical billing specialist. So excited to learn and get into the field! I’m looking to set up my home office and first up is a better keyboard. Do you recommend a keyboard with numbers to the right? Or are the numbers at the top more efficient?

I’ve done Hospitalists coding but that was strictly E&Ms only! OBGYN is my first surgical coding job.
Are you required to use the monitors that they provide or can you purchase and use your own?
It depends on the employer. Because of the software we use, we’re required to use 24” monitors. I never thought about buying separate monitors because the ones my job provided are pretty big.

It depends on the employer. Some may have you start in the office before sending you home.
My employer already allowed coders to work from home. Once I got my certification and became a coder I too got the same privilege. My current job title is: Coder III but I started as a Coder I. I went from a level 1 coder to a level 3.
What type of laptop do you recommend for this type of work?
I haven’t done my job on a lap top in years. Previously, I would work on my Dell laptop, but I don’t if that’s the best option since I haven’t experienced with any others.
Hi as a student my study guide doesn't tell me this... As a CPC coder, when I find a job will I code for CPT AND ICD 10 codes? Will my employer tell me if they want me to code for both sets or are coders just expected to code everything, even hcpcs codes too? Thank u I hope u can answer my newbie question!!!
Yes, coders report CPT, ICD-10, and sometimes HCPCS codes. You’ll want to be prepared to know how to code all three. You’re welcome & thank you for supporting my channel. 🧡

I just got my set of spiral coding books delivered from AAPC , (CPT, ICD 10, HCPCS,) is it normal that my books have ENDLESS shredded white confetti falling out? I set them on my bed and white confetti stuck to my blanket. ugh. I actually tried vacuuming my books but STILL have confetti falling out, it's endless!
Yes!! It happens to ALL of us!! 😆😆 Welcome to the Coding World! lol
It does go away after a good month as long as you’re using if often.. it’s because of the books being brand new and how they’re processed through the machines all the tiny white pieces from the pages get wrapped up in the plastic and fall out once you open your books.

That depends on your job description. I can’t say what you will/won’t code.

do coders always have to use 2 computers i would love to how exactly how that works
@@brendawhiteside3785 no you don’t HAVE to work with 2 screens..
@@brendawhiteside3785 It’s pretty much like having one big screen but with two monitors. My mouse can travel back and forth from both monitors. You just have to have the split monitor cable (don’t know the proper name) but one cord with two separate ends that goes in the back of both monitors and the other end is a single adapter you plug into your computer/modem. The cord is similar to a splitter you would use for cable tv. Hope this is helpful 🤗
