Skyler is a good character. Her motivations were reasonable. I didnt like her as I was watching either but I couldnt figure out why since, like I said, she's not like unreasonable or wrong for most of the things she does lol.
It's because the show gives you so many moments where you're supposed to relate to Walt, even if he's a horrible person, and it paints Skylar as the villain as a result Like you said, she breaks Walt's flow and ability to meet his ends, which were selfish to begin with, but at the beginning of the story seemed harmless enough that you started rooting Walt on in all of it- only to find out that Walt kept getting deeper and deeper only because he's selfish But the entire time- you're viewing the story through Walt's eyes
I watched Breaking Bad a few years after it ended, but it's been a while. I never hated her, but I remember any scene with her and Walt would be painful to watch (but not in a good way). Early on it would be like "What are you doing Walt?" "I...can't...explain..." for like a whole scene. After the big reveal where she calls him out about his secret, those scenes are still there but the subject is either "You're a horrible person" or "you're going to get caught" and Walt would always be like "Okay, whatever. You don't know what you're talking about." I don't mind a scene where they're like this, but they always felt pointless and repetitive to me.
I would agree that Skyler’s actions in seasons 1 to 3 of Breaking Bad are in line with what any rational person would do in her situation. She was still unlikeable in those seasons but you could understand and empathize with why she acts the way she does. In season 4 and most of season 5 however, her actions are NOT reasonable and she really does become a bitch in those seasons imo. Walt tried to keep her out of the money laundering business because he knew getting her involved would be a bad idea. However, not only does Skyler insist on getting involved with the money laundering, she also steals most of Walt’s money behind his back to solve a problem (involving the man she cheated on Walt with no less) that could have been fixed in a much simpler way if she had just bothered to talk to Walt about it. She also CONSTANTLY complains about Walt “holding her hostage” even though it was HER decision to get involved with laundering the money. She even goes as far as to fake attempting suicide to make Walt look like a bad partner so that she could get time away from him. Like, if she wanted to get away from Walt so bad, why would she insist on getting involved with the money laundering in the first place?! The hated Skyler gets in seasons 1 to 3 is mostly unwarranted in my opinion. But she does become TRULY hateable in seasons 4 and 5 imo.
@@jameslough6329 I'd forgotten about the whole money laundering saga (its been a LONG time tbf lol) so I forgot about the whole situation with her cheating with Ted and stuff (where I think I ended up hating Ted a lot more so her part in that didnt really stick in my memory quite as much). About Skylar’s character, you have other unlikable people on breaking bad, actual criminals, and yet somehow, people think they are more likable than Skylar. It’s also very unfair because the actress who played her got hate from fans of the show even though she was playing a work of fiction
Andrea's character on that governor arc was all over the place, It's amazing how much they butchered her. Her death scene was honestly a moment relief that she is finally not taking anymore screentime for the rest of the story
Skyler is somehow above someone who turned his wife & daughter into monsters to further his own career. Let's just put patrick star up there while we're at it.
@@Maxisamo1 yeah kinda crazy how people hate a slightly annoying women more than a constantly lying people killing drug selling criminal kingpin. But it’s also kinda understandable since the story is from Walters POV and if you can’t distinguish reality and his views on certain subjects it becomes pretty easy to hate on her
@gggallin8279 Not really, the show constantly gives you multiple POVs, everything simply starts with him By Season 2, you're already given multiple storylines around other characters like Jessie, and Walt isn't aware what's happening until later
@@gggallin8279bruh because no one cares how bad a person they are lol that doesn’t make a character hateable. People love mike while he is a worse person than even Walter because he acts like he has a moral code. Thankfully his character in bcs was made in a way to show how he is just as much of a hypocrite as Walter is though to dispel the notion he is remotely a good person
The governor wasn’t “an almost interesting villain” imo. He really was a bad guy and tried to hide it, unlike other villains in most tv where they are bad but try to show a good side, or just bad for the sake of being bad. P.S. Walking Dead was one of the most popular TV shows especially during the prison arc, how do you not think the show would make the cut, it’s younger than Breaking Bad?
I’m convinced that anyone who hates Skylar hasn’t been in a real relationship with a woman ever. If you came home and lied to your wife every day, knowing that she knew what was up, and then refused to change your actions, your wife would hate you too. Also, she only cheats on him after she serves him the papers and he refuses to sign. As soon as you see those papers, you’re divorced.
I think what set the tone for people's distaste for her was when they had the pillow meeting and she chastised her family for arguing against her. It just made her look like a hypocrite. She also started smoking while pregnant, that didn't do her any favors. And I think people dislike her so much because the vindictive things she did came from a place of anger and resentment, while Walt's actions came from a place of "love" for the family or at least from a desire to feel fulfillment in his life for once. I think the motivation of both character's actions are what set them apart for some fans.
The only reason I had of hating skyler is because she was stopping walter from doing cool shit. Murdering people and robbing trains are perfectly normal leisurely activities
I feel bad for the Game of Thrones actors who were so talented that fans who can't tell fiction from reality would bully them in conventions and actor q&a.
The fact that Charlie has never seen sopranos blows my mind. Anyone who hasn't watched it, I recommend it highly it starts off slow, but tbh it's probably one of the best shows I've ever seen
Is it anything like goodfellas? I watched it because I heard it was one of the best movies ever made, and I thought it was a good movie but I wasn't really into it. Mob films/shows feel kind of repetitive to me most of the time so Idk if I would like sopranos or not.
As toxic as FMA fans get, you got to love how a dude that was in one episode and like three chapters in the manga is still one of the go-to most evil person in anime. *Spoilers* If you never read the manga, Hiromu Arakawa, the creator, would have a panel at the end of every volume dedicated to the characters that died, with the exception of the final volume that has a sign "No spoilers for final volume!" Every character that died would get a chibi angel of themselves in it. I need you to understand that out of *every* character that dies in Brotherhood and the manga, Shou Tucker is the only one cartoonishly depicted going to hell.
Skylar was the first I thought of as hated character. Characters being evil/wrong is a completely separate conversation from being likeable/unlikeable (see: all the fun villains we love to hate/hate to love). Skylar is known for being "cringe"/annoying and often gets in the way of a likeable/charismatic main character without being interesting or competent herself, even if she's right. The cheating really just sealed her fate.
Heaven forbid she cheat on her meth dealing, lying husband that she already served the papers to. Walt spent the entire show being an insecure manchild that needed to put his family in danger to feel alive. It’s no wonder a lot of guys identified with him.
I watched BB for the first time a few years ago. Went into it knowing how much everyone hated Skylar. By the end of it all I just felt confused because save for a few moments in the show I never found her to be annoying. She was really reasonable and only ever tried to protect her family. I found myself siding with her in almost every conflict lol. Plus if we wanna talk cringe Walt made me cringe far more than any other character: “justifying” the plane crash, sexually assaulting a coworker, and that whole “I am the danger” speech. All great moments in the show, but none of them made Walt charismatic or likeable lol. Plus I’d hardly say she’s incompetent. I mean, if it weren’t for her “dealing” with the tax evasion bullshit and come up with the car wash they would’ve been caught way earlier. At the end of the day I think too many people let their first time watching when they were edgy teenagers permanently define how they felt about the characters in the show.
@@slipperyquark3885 I'd say that her main crime was being a bit boring and predictable which made her seem annoying to people. Whenever she was on screen, she'd be negative about something and her story lines weren't that interesting. The criminal side always had interesting stuff going on and watching Hank be so close to Walter during his investigations had tension. Going back to Walt's family drama was less compelling. It's been a like 10 years since I watched BB, but that's what I remember thinking about her.
She had ample outs but still kept around. Obviously she doesn't love walter anymore so why. Is. This. Bitch. Still. Around. Just sucking up the time that could be spent on actual good characters and the only thing she likes riding more than Walt and Ted is that high horse that trots around on the path of destruction walt left that SHE helped to create too. And poor Haley and Walt Jr have to be in her custody. If you want a skylar done right then Kim Wexler is the one.
Utter nonsense. A character being wrong and evil are the prime traits of hated characters. Separating evil from just annoying characters only makes a list of annoying characters. No reason to over complicate this.

She’s a hypocrite, and she resents Walt from the start. She’s hated mainly for eventually going against her own preachings. But I personally believe Walt was always an ego maniac and never actually broke bad, the twist being Walt was always bad and it was always just below the surface.
As much as I love Walt he should 1000% replace Skylar. Dude took every opportunity to torture Jesse and ruin his life, he threw away a billion dollars and bankrupted his family because of his ego, he killed Hank, team up with nazis and abandoned his family.
Regarding the GoT guys not wanting to continue without the books, they could have just hired some writers. there are countless UA-cam essays by random people that have great endings for every character arc. They just gave up
People thought she was annoying and somehow that justifies her being one of the most hated characters ever. It's such a huge overreaction. Edit: Even with the cheating, I don't think that puts her on the same level as tyrannical rules and murderers. It just seems like she's on there for petty reasons.
Maybe they hate her bc she acted like a victim while benefitting and participating on said “monster” behavior. Not everything is as simple as “man good, woman bad”.
Feel so bad for the actor that played skylar. She got so much real life hate. Also theres so many braindead people that actually think shes the villain of the show for being naggy 😭
“Talk about The Walking Dead for a second, please!” Makes zero sense, and I usually agree with a larger portion of Charlie’s takes. TWD was the most watched television show on tv for something like 7 to 9 years in a row… and the first 6 seasons are nothing short of incredible.
@@Mr_Chili05Views don't estimate quality. Although I'm not in agreement with the person you're replying to, it's never fair to judge a show's quality by it's viewer count. TWD definitely fell flat after S5.

People are getting caught up on “other characters did worse things than her” But what she did isn’t why people hate her. They hate her because she isn’t an entertaining character and got in the way of the story people wanted to see. It’s a story, the morality of a character isn’t what makes them liked or hated, it’s wether people find them entertaining or not.
She contributed a lot to the story, though. If it weren’t for her Walt would have gotten caught a lot earlier. If her reactions to the situations Walt kept putting her in weren’t so real and visceral I genuinely believe the show wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining as it is.
It's not surprising. Realistic or not, the audience isn't gonna like people that oppose all the action in the show and offer little else as a character
I honestly never understood the skylar hate the whole series i was waiting for her to do something that was so horrible that made everyone hate her but no shes just a normal scared woman whose only bad choices were cheating and staying with Walter during when hank discovered he was Heisenberg

I watched the show when I was much younger and I admit I am still a piece of shit. The reason I didn't like skylar was the same reason as walt jr, my dopamine deficiency made me hate them because I thought they were rather boring. Nina’s “Big brother Edward” gave me first shock/chill sensation I’ve ever felt watching anime. The Uchiha clan massacre from the first half of naruto was also traumatic to watch as a new comer to anime, but full metal alchemist beat it with Nina’s fate from her own goddamn father. 😳 And also the reason why I’m never naming my daughter Nina. Even though I’m a female and if married would take on a different last name, my maiden name is Tucker. I can’t be the only person with that last name who became extremely uncomfortable that we coincidentally have the same family surname as that piece of sh*t Shou.😥
Skyler shouldn't be on the list. I didn't like her in my first rewatch but on another rewatch I felt sympathy for her despite her doing some bad things in the show. Her actions were a result of Walter White being a horrible human.
Except she tried to play both sides. The reason people hate Skyler more than Walt is bc she acts as if she’s a victim while reaping the benefits of the actions she claims to be so heinous. At least Walt was somewhat honest and knew what he was, Skyler is type of person/character that would cry out while striking you.
@@MUSHROOMAN4I think you might need to rewatch BB bc she doesn’t play both sides. She quite literally *is* a victim. All she ever does is try to deal and cope with situations Walt has put her in. At one point she starts to feel pride in what she’s doing the same way Walt does, then the second her family is in danger she’s like “wait this is stupid” and wants to stop again. Something Walter can’t seem to do. Walter lied to his family *and* himself literally up until the last episode where he finally admits that everything he did was for himself. Not his family.
@@slipperyquark3885 I fully disagree. Skyler isn’t a victim. She has agency and made her own decision to benefit off of the actions she deemed to be “evil”. I watched the show a couple of months ago with my gf and both of us agreed that she’s an awful character.
I think Skyler is factually one the most hated characters. That level of hate is undeserved and I think part of it is people being unable to separate the "Main character" from "good guy". Walt isn't a good guy, he's up there with the best villains in the showe, she's a foil to him but she's not a "Bad guy".

Idk if shou tucker should be that high on the list but he should definitely be on it, mostly because instead of feeling remorse for what he did, he became euphoric at the idea of being able to create an abomination WITHOUT a philosopher stone
D.W from Arthur I’d say is even more egregious of a character than a lot of these, because the entire show’s main point is to teach kids valuable morals and lessons in an entertaining way, so having a bratty obnoxious prominent side-character that rarely gets her comeuppance is frustrating to witness.
How are people confused about Skyler? Every fucking meme I see from the breaking bad fan base is just shutting on her. Even though it’s not really warranted, It’s not surprising.
If your hating on Skyler for the Meme that's good but if you Unironically think Skyler White is bad & annoying your dumb. Walter endangers Himself, Jesse, His Family, and his Brother in Law gets shot cuz of Walt. The only bad thing she's done was cheat on Walt and that was a moment of Hysteria. 1) She was right, Walt was in way over his head and lost everything cuz of his Ego & Pride. 2) Walt does so many horrible things and also poisons a kid. 3) She helps Walt launder Money. I think she was awful from the start. She is just a miserable person. If I was married to her I'd put a bullet in my head. She has a grating personality, super passive-aggressive. And I'm talking in the episodes before Walt even does anything illegal.
I’ve never seen breaking bad before but from what I’ve seen skyler is incredibly annoying and I completely understand why she is so high on the list. I would hate a character so much more if I find them annoying and grating every time I saw them on screen rather than if they were genuinely evil or bad.
Rick's wife - Lori Grimes - in Walking Dead would be at the top of my list. Not only a horribly written, obnoxious, wishy-washy character, but a thoroughly annoying performance as well. "The deer, Carl! The DEER!!!"
I'm glad I dropped the Walking Dead after the first season. Never really felt the need to watch any more episodes of it. And incidentally, I think the same seasonal rot affected the Walking Dead games as well. The first two TWD TellTale games were great but after that they kept dragging the story along. As far as hated characters in TV history, I think Janice from the Sopranos should be on the list. Everything about her just oozes hate and misery.
A New Frontier was pretty bad (S3 of the TellTale games) but S4 is fantastic. I didn't like the Michonne mini-series either, felt like too much of a cash grab. I'm watching TWD show currently and I'm really enjoying it, but I will always prefer the comic books as I read them first and the story works much better.

Like you said, she breaks Walt's flow and ability to meet his ends, which were selfish to begin with, but at the beginning of the story seemed harmless enough that you started rooting Walt on in all of it- only to find out that Walt kept getting deeper and deeper only because he's selfish
But the entire time- you're viewing the story through Walt's eyes
and skyler wasnt selfish throughout? @@greenbean4422
P.S. Walking Dead was one of the most popular TV shows especially during the prison arc, how do you not think the show would make the cut, it’s younger than Breaking Bad?
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when he said that. I was like, what?? Massive cultural impact show.
I've never understood why people hate Skylar so much. It's good writing and if you've seen a married couple it's 100% on point.

She also started smoking while pregnant, that didn't do her any favors. Every character that died would get a chibi angel of themselves in it.
I need you to understand that out of *every* character that dies in Brotherhood and the manga, Shou Tucker is the only one cartoonishly depicted going to hell.
As a sane fma fan, that was a funny thing she did.
I couldn’t imagine reading a manga and not hating myself

There's a reason the villains in Fullmetal HATE shou tucker. Its gotta stand for something when even the other bad guys say fuck that dude, especially scar.
that doesn't matter dude, most people don't need 1000 hours of background and buildup to hate a character. you just gotta have a character do something severely f*cked up, like i mean breaking the Geneva conventions levels of f*cked while not caring
I’m not really sure what correlation screentime has to character memorability but you do you.
Galadriel from Rings of Power should be on this list.
1. Rapist/murderer
2. Rapist/murderer
3. Woman
4. Child murderer
Glad dudes are still as reasonable as ever
ah yes, because men are the only ones 1) watching these shows and 2) voting on this poll. nice misandry
"there's only one thing worse than a r*pist..... a child" dunno why your comment reminded me of that lmao
@@nickwx9816 misandry lmao
@@TheOod560I mean u deffo are lol with that attitude. Ita a poll of the most hated not the objectively evil people. U can hate a charcter for being evil but with skyler people hated her because she opposed the main charcter. I do think the hate is undeserved tho but it isn't because she's a women.
glad that we bring gender to every single fckg thing
i will make sure add my most despicable attack helicopter to the list then
Idk if shou tucker should be that high on the list but he should definitely be on it, mostly because instead of feeling remorse for what he did, he became euphoric at the idea of being able to create an abomination WITHOUT a philosopher stone
Personally I think every anime character ever created should be somewhere on the list. They’re all abominations.
Only reason Skylar is #3 is because of that damned Happy Birthday she sang..
Even though it’s not really warranted,
It’s not surprising.
"She disrespected the grind" is such a funny statement holy fuck
If your hating on Skyler for the Meme that's good but if you Unironically think Skyler White is bad & annoying your dumb.
Walter endangers Himself, Jesse, His Family, and his Brother in Law gets shot cuz of Walt.
The only bad thing she's done was cheat on Walt and that was a moment of Hysteria.
1) She was right, Walt was in way over his head and lost everything cuz of his Ego & Pride.
2) Walt does so many horrible things and also poisons a kid.
3) She helps Walt launder Money.
But Callou is on this list so it's probably a Meme that Skyler is here.
skyler is in no way a bad character buuuuut she is very annoying, i didn't really care about her character too much anyways she just annoyed the ever living f*ck out of me

I’m sorry, but someone loses all credibility calling anyone else dumb, when they don’t know the proper “*you’re” to use.

learn to spell. She was a very unlikeable character. Cope
They cut short the last two books. They had plenty of material.
Skyler White smoking while pregnant was pretty despicable.
I think she was awful from the start. She is just a miserable person. If I was married to her I'd put a bullet in my head.
She has a grating personality, super passive-aggressive. And I'm talking in the episodes before Walt even does anything illegal.
@@linkvegeta2 have u seen season one fargo? he should of done that
the show is about selling meth brother
@@sybill123ful changes nothing lmao.
Like ten characters killed kids in the show
Joffrey was a pos but It sucks how the actor was treated
Right!? He was hated bc the actor did an amazing job. Like guys....it's supposed to be a good thing not a bad one....the actor isn't the character
I’ve never seen breaking bad before but from what I’ve seen skyler is incredibly annoying and I completely understand why she is so high on the list. I would hate a character so much more if I find them annoying and grating every time I saw them on screen rather than if they were genuinely evil or bad.
I suggest you watch the show. Once you understand the situation(s) Walter keeps putting her in you’ll see her reactions are completely justified.
@@slipperyquark3885being justified doesn’t make someone likeable
@@slipperyquark3885 lol what. That still doesnt make her likable. And not everything she did was justified, the opposite in fact
The Ted birthday party scene single handedly justifies Skyler being #3 😂
Skyler makes no sense she was definitely justified in how she felt, even cheating on Walt
Its a cold world when Shao Tucker plays second fiddle to Skylar White.
Rick's wife - Lori Grimes - in Walking Dead would be at the top of my list. Not only a horribly written, obnoxious, wishy-washy character, but a thoroughly annoying performance as well. "The deer, Carl! The DEER!!!"
why tf does so many hate Skylar, she is a normal woman acting like it. Yeah she fucked up, but she is not Joffrey evil
They should’ve replaced Governor with Negan.
They did fine with telltale games as not overstretching it, season 3 was a miss personally but in comparison to how the show was milked it's nothing
"Ed.. Ward.. Can we play now?"
Skyler White hate is still the most interesting phenomenon of misogyny in television i have ever seen
The second you resort to using things like misogyny, you don't have an argument. Skylar was an annoying hypocrite, it's not about misogyny.
Skyler was a woman who wanted to live a decent life and take care of her children and not have her rapist murderous drug king pin husband steal all that away from her. please explain where she was a hypocrite?@@crazyand2099
@@crazyand2099I mean, most men are ignoring her valid actions because they find her annoying
@@IndefiniteIdea from what I've seen, her valid actions are usually hypocritical.
true. She's annoying but sympathetic. By the end I felt so bad for her.
A future list should include Mahito from Jujutsu Kaisen and Amber from invincible
Skylar made me not watch that show, she deserves her spot
corny
what is bro yappin bout
completely wrong
Stop cooking, you're giving us food poisoning.
I didn't hate any of these characters the same way I hate Amber from Invincible season 1. Like there's characters that you just want them to die or disappear cause they're evil, and then there are characters that actively bring the show down.
