The first Lutheran on UA-cam I ever watched was Pastor Wolfmueller. What first drew me to Lutheranism coming out of reformed theology was seeing his joy. That led me to discovering the beauty of the book of Concord and Lutheran doctrine.

Your joy is real, because it’s from the Savior. Thank you Jesus for the joy of salvation! This shines through with you two. May we always feel that joy which surpasses all human understanding.

I keep thinking of James 1:2-4 "Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." Joy and frivolity are two different things. You two are filled with joy...which I believe we are commanded to strive towards.

Many people who are overly "serious" have slipped into an unknown state of hopelessness. If they are of the faith (Christianity) they have likely fallen under the influence of that dark one we've all known at some time in our lives. A reminder of our hope in addition to much prayer by and for that person can usually bring joy thru the source of all joy; Christ Jesus back into their lives. Repeat as necessary until called "home". :)

A joyful christian helped lead me back to Christ. I asked her how she could be so happy all the time. She told me her happiness and inner peace came from God.

Hey, I love the content. I have a question in regards to something I have been hearing more and more about recently, and that is a baptism of the Holy Spirit. My very charismatic family (and other) have been speaking a lot recently about a “baptism of the Holy Spirit” where the person who receives it starts having convulsions and speaking in tongues and all the usual business and then afterward they’re “super on fire for God” and I was wondering if you could speak about what people mean when they speak of this “baptism”. I only know of one baptism and this isn’t it and I haven’t seen alot of people talking about this. And it is so strange that an explainer and breakdown would be helpful. Most of what I see out there is from the charismatic POV or testimonies of it etc. If this exists elsewhere in your content someone can comment where. Thanks for all the excellent work you all do :)

Respectfully, there are ads interrupting this every few minutes. It is terribly distracting when one is earnstly trying to listen and follow the discussion. I am wondering why there are so many interruptions. I don't recall it being like this on earlier UA-cam videos on this channel. Would you consider reducing the numbers of ads that break through?
I appreciate your Q&A's and all you are doing here to promote theology and better understanding. Thank you!

Hey Guys. I would certainly agree that being in the Word is imperative, but my question comes along somewhat in response to something Pastor Packer said around the 32:50ish mark. How are we supposed to know what these things do mean? Being Lutheran I would turn to the Book of Concord and Confessions to discern, and if I had a question about a specific text I would ask my pastor. What do we say though to those who come from different denominations and are trying to discern the texts? For instance we see communion and baptism differently, as well God's abundant grace differently too. Though I do believe it, how do I know our 'interpretation' of the text is right as opposed to say Roman Catholicism or Reformed? How do I discuss and evangelize some of these differences with my other Christian brothers and sisters who see these differently?
    Peace be with you both!

So why wouldn't you pray if you are not near a situation that needs help. Pray that God sends someone to help that person.
Why can't you be joyful in your salvation but also watch.... the signs as Jesus said in Matthew 24...

Unfortunately, it does seem like the world has really pushed the idea of Theological Study to the realm of boring academics. Which couldnt not be farther from the truth.

I think you guys are great. I live my brothers Wolfmuller and all pastors, but yall are not free from hypocrisy or farasism teach us to pray as in call on your sheep to pray out loud, like in a class room if we are ambassadors of Christ why are we not called on to pray in bible study and potlucks evt not service obviously. I ask
    Love ya

I don't know what happens in your congregation, but in our congregation the pastor expects us laymen to pray out loud every Sunday. We pray Psalms, responses, and the Lord's Prayer during the Divine Service, plus many of the hymns we sing are also in the form of prayers.

@@kjs0391 Amen! I find that the prayers we pray during the divine service also help to shape my daily prayers. For example, I pray "Lord, have mercy" when I am overwhelmed and grieved by the suffering I see in the world. More recently I've been trying to pray more of the Psalms, specifically the Psalms of lament, as the Psalms are prayers given to us by God.

@christiannanemec234 LCMS is pretty much the same service. Wow. I think these comment boxes in the Lutheran channels are a portal for attacks. Nothing but gruff do I get in them. Or, maybe, it's time to change to another church after 15 years in the LCMS and all I do is get attacked by the so called Christians. So much for gentleness in conversations. Only bite my head off. Thanks. But I still love you. Very much

It is not about rage. It is about your "calling" to protect and steward souls. Your "joy" is a choice rooted in an effeminate and "safe" sense of self. To correlate this discussion to an emotion and not the decline of a once Nation, when you are supposed to be the lead against the spiral is akin to a CEO going on MSNBC and laughing about his corporation going bankrupt. I know this is lost in the LCMS these days, but again I state ... what would need to happen for men like you to take the decline personally to either yourself or your flock. Just this week my city has pushed forward with anti white communist codes while emboldening illegal aliens, Godless lgbt events / gatherings, and crime has made it to where my wife feels unsafe going to certain areas of town alone for errands. This has nothing to do with "loving your neighbor" this is about common sense truth versus lies, evil vs good. We shall see how bad it needs to get before you take your "job" seriously. My personal joy has nothing to do with this discussion. My joy is just fine, but then again I am not currently responsible for leading and protecting other men.

May I ask what it is you expect these two men to do? They both preach Christ as they ought, they preach Law and Gospel and give people hope in a time that looks hopeless. They are shepherds of their congregations and you have no idea how busy these men are and how much they help those who God has given to them to care for. I don’t see either of these men as effeminate, they stand firmly on the word of God and rejoice in His promises, if that’s what you see as effeminate then I think you need to rethink your definition of masculinity. These men, despite seeing the world around them falling apart and having to deal with the effects of it daily in their congregations, stand firm on Gods word and hold onto courage, strength, hope, and even joy, knowing that God is with them. That is peak godliness, at least in my opinion.

Sooooo much there California “based” in your post. Curious, and it’s totally off topic but would honestly like to know, what do you think of The Chosen series and the impact it is having across “our nation?” No, I have noooooo idea what either pastor here thinks since as far as I can tell, they’ve never touched it. Anyways, for it, against it or somewhere in between? TIA.
PS If in fact you are in Cali, any thoughts of moving to…anywhere else? Texas maybe? Austin? Hmmm…

Aren't these men carrying out their callings as pastors to protect and steward souls when they preach and teach God's Word, address and correct false doctrines, and tend to the needs of their congregation's members trough prayer, confession and absolution, administration of the Sacraments, pastoral counseling, visitation, etc.?

Yes you are, all men who are husbands and fathers and brothers are called to protect their family and be the leaders. Especially when there's not a pastor or you don't have a church home.
