Off topic question, what is the significance of one pastor wearing the white collar on the outside and the other on the inside? I really enjoy these topics/discussions thank you.

A frustration I have had since I became Lutheran is how often pastors and other Lutherans explain things with pat answers. You two really explain things well yet simply! Thank you!

The main tenet of Judaism is monotheism. It was the first religion to espouse the concept of only one God. Polytheism among Jews in an impossible oxymoron. Remember the Semitic people emerged from caves 12-14 thousand years ago. The next in line were Asians at 8 thousand years ago. Judaism has been a religion for almost 6,000 years. Before it coalesced to monotheism and became Judaism, there was indeed idol worship. The whole premise and the question are absolutely absurd.

From where do you get that "Semitic people emerged fron caves 12-14 years ago", and what exactly do you mean by that? Honest question.

We never really did live in caves. 10,000 years ago we were nomads and would build temporary structures at the mouths of caves. The earliest examples of modern civilization go back over 10,000 originating in Mesopotamia, Iraq today. This is where we first cultivated a crop, wheat. Once cultivation began, those groups settled into communities.

@rmeioshuabelmont7326 My comment disappeared. Anyway, we didn't really live in caves, we were nomads and built temporary structures at the mouths of the caves. It's commonly agreed the modern civilization began in Mesopotamia with the advent of agriculture. Wheat was first grown and we settled into farming and trading communities. The Jewish people lived "between the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers," Iraq and Syria today. The Arabs at the time practiced a religion that included pretty much every religion they were exposed to and remained nomads relying on the Hebrew communities for trade. They were polytheistic until 610AD when the Prophet Muhammed claimed to have heard from God and adopted monotheism. The start of Islam.

I have two friends who call themselves dispensationalists. They believe if Paul writes a book in the Holy Bible, then non Jews should read them. If Peter wrote a book the it is to be read by the Gentiles. They believe the Gospels are only for the Jews. I’ve stayed up all night trying to get the reading the entire New Testament.

I get what you are saying. I was responding to a dispensationalist on a Catholic Apologist's channel. His big hang up with the Catholic Church? It teaches people to pray the Lord's Prayer! Unbelievable.

What I heard about the topic is that there was an idea about two powers in Heaven. Not that they worshiped pagan Gods, but they believed God shared his power. Perhaps from the Daniel 7 vision with the Son of Man? Then the story goes that because Jesus showed up, then the Jews started to abandon the idea of two powers in Heaven because they were afraid of Jesus and afraid of losing their positions of authority on earth.

The Trinity in two verses in O.T. "Lord GOD=Father, LORD your God=Son/redeemer, Spirit ".
Isaiah 48:16-17. “Come near to Me, listen to this:
From the first I have not spoken in secret,
From the time it took place, I was there.
And now the Lord GOD has sent Me, and His Spirit.”
17 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel,
“I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit,
Who leads you in the way you should go.

Paul versus Peter? Well look at what Peter said about Paul in 2 Peter 3. Paul verified what he was teaching with Peter, John, and James. 2 Peter 3:15 And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.

People need to study exegetically the scriptures. All the falling away from the Lord’s prescribed plan of salvation (Gen.3:15) began with the religion of Cain and his family in contrast to Seth and his family of believers recorded in Genesis 4-5

What do you say when a Calvinist tells you that the Lutheran view of monergism doesn't "make sense" because people can still fall away? I would appeal to mystery, but I'm curious if there is a stronger response.

I was told Peter was illiterate via acts 4 so therefore never read Paul or Paul's words were inspired by God. And Jesus said to not make money to pay bills. Paul did make money. So Paul is anti Jesus.
