    hmmm, a dwell knob and and a frequency knob? Bet there's a 555 in that "zapper". But I shouldn't use a signal generator. Maybe a pulse gen? lol. I feel like your selling that zapper. I highly doubt the Zapper is shielded either. looks cheap.

    does yellow wire (for trigger?) connect to green wire of ignition pulser ?

    • @ADPTraining
      @ADPTraining  4 роки тому +1

      COP coil has 3 wires. Ground, B+ and trigger. autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com

    Thnx for sharing. This is very helpful and educational.
    Question: would it be okay to use COP ignition coil for cars to be used in motorcycle(Big bike)? Assuming electrical connection and its physical fitment is okay.
    Thnx.

    • @ADPTraining
      @ADPTraining  Рік тому

      Maybe, some motorcycles have capacitive ignition, not magnetic.

    What is the use of testing an ignition coil, since I have been suggested all the packs be changed once one is found to be of problem?

    • @ADPTraining
      @ADPTraining  2 роки тому +2

      Absolutely not. I'm same cases the coils are $95 each. Why replace all coils? Proper diagnostics is the way to go and save.

    with just a multi tester you can test the transistor if its ok or not.....reading betweeen base and collector, base and emitter must read lo/hi for forward bias and hi/lo for reverse bias.....you can also test the resistance of primary coil and secondary coil based on your diagram for short or open ....thanks

    • @ADPTraining
      @ADPTraining  5 років тому +3

      Negative, COP with internal igniters don't have just one transistor. I mentioned, it's a simplified diagram on the video. Also on these COP with internal igniters, you don't have access to the coil primary for a DMM test, because it had a PCB circuit in between. On a non igniter unit, an Ohm check is just preliminary to detect opens, but won't test a coil. Often times coil windings semi short a couple turns, which is undetectable by an Ohm check. www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com/ignition_coil_pulser_tester.html

      haha.. ignorant lad! owning the DMM & knowing how to operate it doesn't automatically make you a technician or an engineer 😆😆

    Does the power came from the ecu?

    • @ADPTraining

      No, ECM provides trigger pulse. Fuse box provides power.

    Chassis ground should be the same as battery ground if your car is wired properly. The negative wire from the battery goes directly to the frame of your car.

      I HAVE A 2003 ACCORD V6 with wierd isssues (rough rumning, stalling...). I am marrowing the issue to an electrical issue.
      Tested the signals at the 3 pin coils yesterday & i see Battery Voltage, Ground and the last pin is 0volts or nearly that. I am wondering what the last pin is supposed to be

      You can just guess & be a parts exchanger. Or you can understand how a component works & then use your logic / diagnostic skills to determine the fault(s) Good luck with that. If you're a shade tree mechanic & go to a junk yard & buy cheap known good parts that's fine.
      BTW fuel Injectors work on a similar principle & you cannot simply use a multi meter or a test light.
      A noid light set or a Power Probe 4 are the cheapest way to check certain injectors other than buying an expensive scan tool & a scope.
