    When I saw it out of the box I was really suprised how pretty it was. It's the best good-looking and cool guitar I have ever seen regardless the price. Design and the shape are really cool and distinctive, finish is very nice, fretwork and tuning are close to perfection. Nut and bridge saddles aren't made of a cheap plastic, I'm almost sure it is TUSQ GraphTech.
    It sounds more trebly than bassy, of course, because of its little parlor body. For me bass strings, especially E are a little bit dull and mat in compare to loudly ringing trebles. I guess, three factors should improve this shortcoming: replacing the strings with Elixir Nanoweb (now D'Addario® EJ16), finding the way to play on it to compensate the disproportion between basses and trebles (it took me only a week) and time the guitar needs to sound better.

      Of course it is, but its a parlor guitar which is best for mostly blues and country. These aren't meant for more modern sounding rock or anything like that.

    I seem to be in the minority here but I bought this guitar and I just cannot bring myself to love it. It looks great, and it is for sure the prettiest guitar i've ever owned but it's missing a certain amount of warmth that I look for in an acoustic guitar.

      Me too, but then again I don't play the sort of music that this guitar suits. You have to completely change your playing to get the best out of this.

    Agathis
    The wood is commonly used in the manufacture of low priced guitars due to its good resonating properties, yet relatively low price of production.

    Hi, could you list the song or piece names that you play in this? (have always loved the things people play during guitar demos). Also i have this guitar and love it, my only problem with it is i think it has quite a high action for what i like, making it real hard to hold barre chords but for the price, its great!

    • @roflmows

      Gibson Hummingbird.
      buyer beware. most of them are copies and imitations. true vintage Hummingbirds are very costly.
      be careful and closely inspect any Hummingbird pick guard. there are lots of very common Chinese knockoff versions floating around.
      a true Hummingbird vintage pick guard can easily cost 300-400 bucks in good condition. don't get taken by imitators.

      Daniel Stephenson it's a good guitar, but does have some issues.
      it's made overseas as is fender. I've gretsch and fender acoustics, and would buy a fender over a gretsch any day...just better quality

    • @alexj.7667
      @alexj.7667 4 роки тому +1

      They're different guitars for different styles of playing. This one is more dry and boxy. It's actually built in the style of the 30's catalog guitars. It's basically built to be a blues box. The Fender has a deeper, more resounding bass response. It's a good all around guitar but I find it suits ballad and country players a little better. Both are excellent guitars for the money, it just depends on what your intended purpose is.

    • @GakCoUk

      Hi. The guitars are actually very different. The Jim Dandy is made of agathis, whereas the Americanas were unspecified "real wood". They also have a deeper body and a longer scale length. Overall, they are a higher quality guitar with a better sound.
