such a good episode. the enterprise is so inferior in technology and weaponry to these guys. and they just stalk and harass them the whole episode till they have advanced to the point where they can somewhat defend themselves.
It’s something the Vulcans knew. Had they not held Humanity back to improve their technology, they would have run into that ship with a ship more inferior than EnterpriseNX. Enterprise wasn’t the perfect ship to explore the galaxy… it was the tipping point where humanity could explore and have a decent chance of coming back home alive to share what they learned.
T'Pol didn't realize that one didn't have to order the bacon anyway. She was a bit literal-minded at times-like Spock ("How will playing cards help?" for example in "ST:VH"). When Archer told her to say "when" (when to indicate when to stop pouring the wine in her glass in the captain's mess when she was promoted in one episode), she naturally said "when" rather than "now".
I would’ve liked it if they improved the ship each season. S2 sensors and shields. S3 Core and tractor beam. S4 Weapons and armor. S5 a warp 6 engine and a 3rd ship of its class.

The fact that they’re clearly calling what is either fire control or the forward battery the armory is incredibly frustrating and is sufficient reason to cancel the show.
I miss the good old days when writers were hired based on meritocracy. Nowadays it seems like they are hired based on sex, sexuality, ethnicity or politics. When you hire based on meritocracy you get stories like this.
AND they're travelling at FTL speeds! If one ship was travelling at a speed even slightly faster (and I mean by like 10^-9 percent greater than the other), they would be literal picoseconds away from colliding and dying horribly. The writers on this show were morons...
It's that way with a lot of shows. I rewatched TNG for the first time since it originally aired and it was, lets say clunky. To be generous. It takes time for the production crews, writers and actors to find a groove that works sometimes. One exception being Firefly, which was fantastic from the get-go. But then again what if the show was allowed to develop. Might have turned out to be the all time best sci-fi ever. Or it could have tapered off. We'll never know.
Let me guess, you've only ever watched the woke garbage shows that came after this? Try watching TNG and DS9 and then say it was the best star trek ever...

"Enterprise NX-01 battle a unknown ship" That's about once a week. The show depended too much on flashy battles and special effects and not enough on the performances of the actors. Lackluster performances. All talk and little drama even in the tense situations.
0:16 20,000 meters? So, like 20 km? My god, the writers on this show have zero sense of scale. Space is VAST, and even primitive space propulsion closes kilometer distances in short order (the fucking Voyager 1 probe travels at over 17 kilometers per SECOND). And these ships are supposedly traveling at FTL speeds! At that distance, if one ship is travelling even a minute fraction of a percent faster than the other, they would be literal picoseconds away from crashing into each other and dying horribly...
I think the real problem was the timing of the series. It came out when the star wars prequel band wagon was in full force, and it came off as a copycat effort to cash in on the craze.
