I have autism spectrum disorders/Asperger Syndrome and this would be my worst nightmare right here. I have no desire to live with other people, be with staff all the time, have my life arranged for me, have goals made for me, have decisions made for me, have people collaborate on my behalf, get all the attention, and mingle all the time either. It's been a long time since high school and college for me and I don't know very many people anymore. Being in a home where I have to be around people all the time would just be nerveracking for me because I don't have very good social skills anymore and would have to interact with people constantly. I just want to continue to deal it that I have autism and own it myself. I'm going to do whatever the hell looks interesting and exciting, let life take its course and die when my time comes. All I want to do are all the boring and tedious things typical adults do such as pay electric, gas, and water bills; do taxes; do car, house, and yard maintenance; go grocery and clothes shopping; run errands; make investments; and do whatever the hell interests me. But yeah, I choose to live life as a person and not as a disability. Plus, I'm much better at keeping on top of my responsibilites and obligations than I am at socializing. So, this would be a bad fit for me.

I'm so happy this organization exists. I'm transitioning from living with my parents to living somewhere else. I'm not sure what will happen. I have high functioning autism.
