Put a small bed crane crane on back use it for hauling engines and axles. Or turn into off road wrecker. It's way cool I am sure with your creativity you can make it way cooler!! Thanks for sharing your talents and adventures!!
The original Jeep Gladiator came out in 1962... about 10 years before this jeep was made. the new one is named after the old SJ. I had a 1977 j10 with an amc 401.
7:08 Most NOCO Booster packs have a "Manual Override" button to force 12 volts at the clamp leads if it doesn't detect a battery. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds until the battery level LEDs start to "chase".
Fred is getting brave. Living in the people's republic of California and telling the rest of America how to circumvent the epa. Be careful or the commissar will get you😂
I thought the reason for the gas can contraptions was to better capture gas fumes. There was some research showing that more pollution is caused by spilled gas than by driving a highly efficient car. So preventing spilled drops is the point of those contraptions.
That's a good-looking flatbed jeep. I haven't seen you since they canceled ded, I'm glad to have stumbled across you tonight. Keep up the great work, man, and as always, thank you for the wonderful content.
I don't think that thing is ugly, but "personally" I do think it's too long to be practical. I always need my Jeeps or trucks to be useful enough to be utilized. At this length it'd be perfect for a parade cruiser. I understand it's not wide (maybe that's why they went long) but I'd death wheel out around a foot to 2. Hey man I'm not you 😁 I'm not telling you what to do. Enjoy that thing! Edit: I love those art cars. That Toyota is a freakazoid. 🤖
I think it is awesome. Put a Fantasy Island safari top on it for a little sun/rain reprieve, some fishing rod holders, some cooler tie-downs and it is a perfect surf fishing Jeep-Truck-Thing.
I think the long-jeep needs to become a Fred-made trail-camper. Maybe the guys at four wheel camper up in Woodland can demystify the manufacturing process. Could be a great series of episodes
The gas cans I bought in '19 or '20 have plastic colanders in the fill hole and it legitimately takes me 5 to 10 minutes to fill each can because the backflow of fuel kicks the pump off. I've got too much stuff to do to be stuck at a gas station waiting for my cans to fill. The older gas cans from my younger days had warning labels on them that said what you should and shouldn't do. All the "Safety Features" on the newer style cans aren't letting Darwin have his day and are making life difficult for common sense people who need to get things done. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. 😂
I love that Jeep truck thing!! I love those tires. I have the same set 35x12.50-15. Mounted on my JK, yes 15s will fit a JK. Mine mounted measured at 36 1/8x14 3/4x15. I hate Mickey Thompson killed off DC.
Of all the awesome stuff you have built or tinkered with , for some reason this is the one that I think about trying to fix. Restore the front half so it runs great and the body mounts don't fall off. Rebuild the back half with a shorter and lighter bed. Like the one on the Samurai or the new Bronco you built that DHDave guy.
Love watching your videos Fred, the troubleshooting and steps you take to get something running are just like a normal dude... not some crazy car show.
Hahaha love the bit about the gas can, being old school myself ...when I have to read directions and have an engineering degree and find my reading glasses to use my gas can its a sad world!
Don't get me started on gas cans, but thanks for the tip on the replacement nozzles. As far as the Jeep, it looks to be about the same size as a current Comanche. Depending on the rust, is it worth building into some kind of overlander? Maybe a support vehicle on an expedition, get the build sponsored. If the frame is rusted away, either part it out, or swap the frame. Lots of ways to get content from this frankenbuild!
this could be a sweet looking truck .. Id say keep the wheelbase .. Bob the back for better departure angle . then ditch the backseat, move the cage forward and extend the bed all the way to behind the fronts, and build bed sides to the height of the base of the windshield
The push button type gas can nozzle is very good, I've used them since they came in the market, They don't spill and self vent as you pour, release the button to shut off without tipping the can back upright. But metal cans are best for safety
There is a button on that jump starter if you press and hold it it will over ride the safety. And allow you to jump a vehicle with a dead battery or no battery at all. Love my noco jump box super handy tool.
Just got a new wood chipper a week ago and was looking for gas for it and naturally all our gas cans with the good nozzles on them are empty. So I used this gas can where the nozzle literally makes the gas spew in a 360 degree fountain completely missing the gas filler hole and soaking the whole damn wood chipper!
As for a cheap jump pack… I have not yet tried this, but apparently you can jump start about any gasoline engine with a drill or impact 18v battery. A couple lengths of rigid wire smashed a bit will slide into the + and - terminals of the battery and give a bit of it’s magic to a dead battery!
100K subscriber giveaway?… Dirt Cheap overland camper thing? A series on Apocalypse survival with an EMP hardened ignition, fuel recovery vacuum pump, on the fly carb and timing adjustability to be able to run on whatever fuel is available? … a diesel swap? … Hard to say… Thanks Phredo. Love your stuff..
Man it was this past Saturday! I would have totally blasted down the central coast. I was going to go out to Selma, but I wasn't feeling it. This week is Pleasanton. Next week maybe hit Pismo. Week after that hopefully start a new job.
Don't forget to pull the battery. Yeah I have a few forgotten for years. Wasn't to terrible back when they were much cheaper. Those gas cans are a bane to the people that use them. I even had to rework a jerry can to remove the vent by the nozzle and put a regular in the back. For most things I use a Safety Can. More expensive but no hassle and heavy duty steel.
@4xFredWilliams, it cool the way it is, i wouldnt chop it up if i had the money fred i would buy off you and jus give a nice paint job replace the seats and use it daily, but it not mine and i dont have the money but enjoy it fred, from Creswell Oregon saying thanx for the video, jon
Dear Sir Fred of 4x4 Land, I've taken notice your choice to read comments which isn't always the healthiest idea for someone in your shoes. In my experience people individually are awesome, creative and amazing. As a collective are the dumbest a$$ sniffin mammals on the planet and not very kind, tribal, and selfish. Watching your gas segment and hearing your safety police reference I wanted to let you know that you sir are an awesome individual who has bestowed much knowledge and a decade plus of fun among many people. And brought fathers and sons together in a time where that is getting more rare. I figure you read comments to stay connected with your audience and I respect that immensely, though not sure its the best for you. Just know if you continue and see some of color and assholish remarks that they're prob not true fans or just started growing hair and haven't taken enough correct me lumps yet. There 10,000 hrs and then there's 10,000 lumps, both bring knowledge and wisdom. Anywho your real fans have much love and respect for Sir Fred of 4x4 Land and wish you nothing but good tidings, muddy holes, steep off camber rocky trails and starry night camping. Thank you for all you do and if you see negativity in your comments just skip em and move on. You've got a lot of admiration out here and fans like that are worth 100 of the negs. Till we convers again Sir!
Thanks for calling out the crappy gas can designs. You can also buy the “water” version of the Rotopax if you need the overlander cred. I think there is/was an EPA bologna reason for the non-venting cans also…
thr safety can with the fire extinguisher style handle is sctually really good that goofy retracto handle can sucks cause it slows the process down severely
I almost won a ugly truck show. But i had to replace the starter to get there. I was late but won the popular vote ,no stereo though? And i had to bring a funnel to fill the piggyback forklift on my work truck. I would lose at least a half gallon trying to fill it.
Lol, I did not know about the fix for the gas cans. Been using the idiotic safety cans for years, swearing and pouring gas down my pant legs. No more! As far as the Jeep, build a custom frame and cut the wheelbase back down, make a custom off road support style service bed for it and make a CJ 8 "ish" coffee delivery wagon for the Rubicon.
Next episode: Fred dies from Hanta virus When Noco doesn't detect battery hold "Boost" button till it powers up. I think you should put a boom on the Jeep truck thing and make a Tow Jeep Truck thing out of it. 😁
id swap an LS so you dont have to deal with it having trouble starting. and maybe fix the fuel system just so its more reliable. so that way if you sell it, the next person wont have to worry about driveability issues
Yea those safety nozzles make me spill more gas than I would with the old school ones
Gas leaks from the tubes sliding inside each other. I have manually release the safety clip. Gas goes everywhere including my hands
I have one that works perfectly for filling up my mower, rarely ever spill a drop. Sounds like user error to me... 😁
@@AndrewAMartin - Wow! You get a 🍪!
Everyone I have had so far the mechanism jams up, breaks or the springs do weird things which all lead to me taking it off and using a funnel.
I just ripped one apart and made a cork stopper for it. They made the dumbest fuel nozzle design ever.
The jeep truck is good just like it is. It’s definitely unique. My first jeep in the early 80’s was a 1974 CJ5 with the 304 engine. It was a fun jeep.
I always watch for older style gas cans at yard sales for that exact reason
Hahahah, I thought I was the only person that did that!!
If you live in America, you can find these, if you live in a city, probably not 😂 perfect.
lol

YAAAAAAA!!!!! Thanks for the gas spout heads up. I’m headed to the jungle now!!
Fred had a Gladiator before Jeep did! I’d love to see this beast fixed up, rebuilt, put back together. I think it’s great!
Love the junk! Hello from detail dan!

We had fun at The truck show. Definitely worth the 2 hour drive. We had to watch the dirt every episode when you and David got the long jeep again.
I love that thing!
Its so ugly its good!
Love this video I have a Jeep and It's all I drive everywhere.👍👍
7:08 Most NOCO Booster packs have a "Manual Override" button to force 12 volts at the clamp leads if it doesn't detect a battery. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds until the battery level LEDs start to "chase".
Also, the NOCO times out after 60 seconds, and you have to press the on/off button again to reset it.
This truck thing is a perfect representation of what adhd feels like
I totally love this jeep , long wheel base looks great
Had to thumbs up, you made my wife laugh from the other room. She heard the caught on fire a couple times part.
Good to see you again. You have the perfect demeanor/personality for this type of channel. Keep it up. Thanks!
You might need some guard cats to keep the mice off your priceless jeeps.
You just end up with cat piss on everything

Sure can makes a great can with really nice features. No cap removing to fill can nice controlled pours, give them a chance.
You have a 'rithmetic motor. It's putting down 6 and carrying 2....😁
Hahaha would that make it a 228 V6, do the two dead ones cancel out and make it a 152 V4, or is it a 304 V6? See how many ways we can math in 2024? 😂
Those turbine wheels are probably worth more than the Jeep truck thing.

It would be sweet with the cJ body chopped down and like a six foot bed like the DED samurai build.
You should definitely shorten the wheelbase somewhere between current and factory, add a better rollbar/hoop for safety and go wheel it!

You can force your Noco jump pack into a bypass mode, it will jump you from 100% dead. Usually it's the ! Button and the power button for 5 sec.

💯 on the gas can "rebuild" kit!

I like funnels with a fine mesh built in screen, incase dirt gets in the gas can. I can't find them anywhere.
that chassis flex as it came to a stop at the end
That truck has so much potential, it always gives me so many ideas. I would shorten it a little bit and add a bikini top.

Gas pump powered by aa batteries…game changer.
Looks better than the new jeep truck thing. A lot of ugly out there but go getcha some anyway, then work your way up to something like this. baller.
Push and hold the button on the jump pack and it forces it on regardless if what you're jumping is 100% dead or not
