Los de hoy día no sabéis de nada. Yo estudié en tiempos de Franco, sabíamos los 50 estados, capital de cada uno, accidentes geográficos, producción, etc. Estudiábamos la historia entera de EE.UU. y lo mismo para la mayoría de países. Fallar una capital del mundo, aunque fuese la de Bután era repetir examen. Esto era a los 8 ó 9 años. A los 14 ya habíamos leído las principales obras de literatura universal, con comentario de texto. Una tilde era medio punto de examen, una falta mayor era un punto.
Have you ever seen the videos of people asking US citizens these types of questions? It's kind of sad that Spaniards know more about my country than my fellow citizens.
People from other countries definitely know more about the United States than Americans do.

That's not it. I, too, am American and watch those videos. The difference is that, in the American videos, they are putting in many more of the ones that show the people who don't know the answers.

@@user-ki4xw2rb8q OK. I would like to test that myself....which is what I often do. As soon as I go back to the states I will do that. In fact, while I am away, I should.ask similar questions in the countries in which I find myself to see what they respond.

¿Por qué los demás tienen que saber tanto sobre Estados Unidos y luego se permite que los americanos no tengan ni idea de nada?
Porque han vendido una imagen adulterada de su propia historia y de su propia nación. Su país fue levantado por inmigrantes. De no haber existido nunca España, ni siquiera hubieran sido capaces de independizarse de Inglaterra. La carrera espacial la ganaron gracias a los alemanes. La bomba nuclear fue, en gran medida, diseñada por científicos europeos. Gran parte de los investigadores e ingenieros en las mejores universidades de EEUU son europeos o asiáticos. Nos venden una imagen de que son la h0st14, pero luego necesitan ayuda, como siempre, de los extranjeros. Son ridículos.
Se llama subordinación cultural y en eso los españoles somos los mejores. Lamentablemente.
Porque Estados Unidos tiene mucho más renombre mundial, sin más. La gente sabe cuál es el presi de USA, de Francia y, a veces ,de UK, pero quién coño sabe cuál es el de surcorea o hungría? Yo no sé ni cuál es el de Italia, de cabeza. En cambio, sí sabemos cuál es el de norcorea. Es así de simple, lo que llama la atención y se ve plasmado en los medios, es lo que la gente aprende, es completamente natural que conozcamos las cosas más famosas y que otros no conozcan lo que no es famoso, sin más.
Porque los demás somos más inteligentes. A nosotros nosninteresa aprender sobre los demás. Ellos en su burbuja.
@@sebaspf90 burradas, no somos más inteligentes, solo estamos más expuestos a lo que pasa en EEUU porque no nos queda otra, igual que medio mundo. Luego sobre otros países más cercanos no tenemos ni idea.
Por ejemplo estuve estudiando en Lituania y cuando se lo cuento a la gente de aquí me miran con cara de asombro. Nadie sabe dónde está Lituania ni cuál es su capital ni absolutamente nada sobre el país, incluso hay gente que piensa que es un lugar remoto del tercer mundo. Y estamos hablando de un país europeo de la UE, Otan, Schengen, Eurozona y todo.
Sin embargo sobre EEUU sabemos hasta el color de los calzoncillos de Trump porque nos inundan con cultura estadounidense hasta en la sopa.

The accent in Spain seems more difficult to me than the one encountered in Latin America.
When I can easily understand speakers like this, I’ll know I’ve made it to the promised land!
@@TheMiliProthe same thing happens with English, we Latin American people can easily get the American accent while we learn. However for European is easy to get the British accent
@@InglesInfinito That is interesting, even more so as I'm not American so the rule doesn't apply to me. I think the world is exposed to the American accent a lot so that's probably why it's easier for Latin Americans.
@@TheMiliPro I think that applies to People who live in the other side of the world like Asia, Europe, Middle East, etc.. I guess they’re more exposed to the British accent as well as Latin Americans are exposed to English from USA. However American accent is way more famous nowadays.

A few of those were tough questions! I bet a lot of Americans would answer some of those questions incorrectly.
So many Americans in Academia make fun of Americans for not knowing geography. A friend of my fiance (now wife) in casual conversation said something about how ridiculous it was that American students didn't know some major waterways in Europe. She (American) is in academia and her husband is European (just for context). I then countered with why Americans would need to know that and if she thought Europeans know of the Mississippi River or the Great Lakes considering their importance. I felt kinda bad i knee-jerk reacted like that in a social situation, but I always get offended by self-loathing Americans like that. She was young though and I hope she has gotten past that stage of her life.
I learned how to say, "no idea" in Spanish. ;)

La cosa es que en España se enseñan obligatoriamente y de manera más estricta conocimientos de Naciones externas (en especial Estados Unidos debido a la influencia que tiene en España), mientras que en Estados Unidos la educación sigue siendo, hasta cierto grado, un privilegio (hay mucha gente que no se la puede costear).
