- There is a saying that goes: “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”
For centuries, the greatest thinkers have suggested the same thing: Happiness is found in helping others. The key is to find the approach that works for each of us and our own individual passions. When we do, then the more we give, the more we stand to gain purpose, meaning and happiness - all of the things that we look for in life, but are so hard to find.
And so the purpose of life is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well. And the happiness will flow from there.

Oh Linda, so so much love to you. I'm sorry that life hit you so hard. I'm at a loss for words. But I know what helps me: Self compassion helps me to deal with a lot. I put my hands on my heart and say to myself: 1. This is a moment of suffering (acknowledgement) 2. Suffering is part of life and so many people are hurting too. We are not alone in this. (common humanity) 3. Let me be kind to myself in this moment (self care :) - maybe that helps s.o. out there too. Lots of love

Gosh I choked up too! I simply would not want to do this life without my animals. I have been through a lot the last 5 years.Was used, and let down by a lot of people. Got a dog, and she has been by my side all the time, I'm so thankful to have her. She gets me more than 99 % of people do.

If only people treated the elderly and those discarded by society with such love and dignity as these animals❤️🕊 We need a group home in a beautiful peaceful place where people are loved and die in dignity. Mother Teresa saw this need but I think we need to be inspired by her to create this not just for the materially poor but also for those lonely and broken.
@@anitacerny7626 So true, Anita. Compassion for all suffering whether animals, humanity, or our planet is so deeply needed now. It does seem like there is a tendency for some to blame human suffering on the victim, which is sad. We have no possible way to know what put a person in a terrible situation. And it isn’t our business anyway. Our business is to alleviate suffering, as Mother Teresa taught.

That is so true about losing our beloved animals. I still grieve for my foal, Tilly, and my lovely blue healer dog, Blue, who I lost 50 years ago. I know it sounds mad, but the love is so strong it never leaves you. Also my geese, my chickens and peacocks and all my farm animals. Sadly my husband was an American and didn't have the same loving and compassionate feelings towards animals. It broke my heart... I left. 😊❤️

Wonderful video & I agree with this man’s understanding of the importance of all creatures. Growing up we had many cats & dogs & later in life I had several cats with which I had a very close bond with & they used to go everywhere with me, we could communicate with each other. Sadly they’ve all passed from this physical realm but many times during lucid dreams I’m reunited with them.
One particular cat, Suki a Burmese Blue who never left my side, made her presence felt for weeks after she had to be put to sleep to end her suffering from cancer, she died in my arms & tears streamed down my cheeks. I suppose some people will think I’m imagining all this but I’m 100% sure what I’m describing here is real. Thank you for this & all your videos.❤️

consciousness. the ability to be present, within the moment, to experience the life you live and those others who wander along their own paths to interact with you and your path. to take that moment and truly be within it is the essence of what we call life. no constraints, or worries of the "duve's" (coulda, shoulda, & woulda), simply being there. conscious.....
these are some of the reasons I teach all young men (especially with families) to extend their lives with a pet (happy shelter dog preferably). the lessons learned through the caring and interactions with a creature, not of your own species, teaches us (hopefully) unconditional love (as long as our eyes are open and our presence has meaning). their relative short lives teach us (again I hope) to see this life as what it is, a short presence of consciousness where by which we can all live life as if we're immortal, even if only for the brief moment of our existence....
during the "end" times of my furry friends, I hold them within their time of fear as they stand on the edge of their immortality, and read them this poem, hoping that it brings them comfort, as it does me....
As I release you today, from your earthly bondage and pain, I have some important things I wish to convey to you.
I am a simple man, nothing more, nothing less. You have been my faithful, loving companion during some of the most trying times of my life, and for this, I thank you from every corner of my heart.
You have been an inspiration to me, and a joy at every turn we’ve traversed in this consciousness.
There may have been times when you may have questioned my love and care for you, though I can assure you, I always have, and always will.
Our adventure together has been a lifeline for me, and I shall cherish your memory forever.

Sure it could help remembering the happy moments we spent with our beloved animals/pets. I cannot! Erwin, my black cat left me on 27 nov. 2020 and eversince I cry daily thinking of him. His ashes rest on my bedside table and every single day I speak with him as if he was still alive. The grief will never end and perhaps I don't want it to end because in so doing the liason won't be cut. The man is so wise, sweethearted, joyfull. I wish I could share his contentment!!!

I just lost two of my hugely beloved dogs, within two weeks time. 😢 Been saving dogs for the last 27 years, from harm caused to them earlier in their lives. They are so ever thankful, I can't write it down. We are only their helpers. They give so much more to me and others, I can't explain how enormously thankful I am to acknowledge their presence of pure love in my life. Yes, they are my guru's! 😉😘 My beloved girls, and my other dear beings are still with me, in a different form now. 🙏 I am so greatful for their earthly presence as well as their etheric presence. Happiness is this! 💖🐾🌟
If I weren't on the other side of the planet, I would love to go and do a retreat at Peter's animal sanctuary. And give him a helping hand. 🙏 Bless him. 🤗

My parents passed when I was 29 and 31. I was very young and a late bloomer. I have spent the rest of my life pulling myself up from hard times and animals have been my angels, my friends and my family. When I lose an animal, and have to make the choice for them… I well, I do t know how I make it through. It leaves me absolutely traumatized for at least a month and heartbroken there after. I still have a quote in my phone that gave me a sliver of peace when I put my car down in 2019.
“In order to end an animals suffering, we must first accept our own.”

This is beautiful,my dog bring so much happiness when she gain her health back where the veterinary said there was not much chance for her,ive cried so much because ive seen her so close to die,iver never cry so much and everyone was sad for me and i were so sad for her,im crying thinking about those times,but God decides to listen to my prayers and a miracle did happen,its been more than 1 year now that she is now as healthy as she can. I had to say good bye to my Dog Snooky 2 days ago, when we were accompanying her in the last moments I remembered this video and I told my baby how much I love her and thank her for all this 10 years with me, I told her she was the best dog in the world❤ I will miss her so much
