And that was the cheapest warm hatch at the time to begin with. Now that title likely belongs to the Suzuki Swift Sport, at 30.000 USD. It's a car with 140 hp. So 45k for a V8 Mustang isn't cheap but even not too crazy with this perspective in mind, cheap fun isn't a thing anymore in the new car market 😅

The same car at that price today with INFLATION factored in is about 56.000 thousand dollars! And yes i have kept it, its still in great shape, Ive bought 4 new cars since then. Also, in 1975 when i was 16, i remember gas was around 57 cents a gallon. Sounds cheap right? But it wasnt, because the minimum wage was 2 dollars and 10 cents per hour......
I think its pretty cool that after 56 years, my 1968 Mustangs rear tailights are still on the rear of a 2024 Mustang albeit slightly different. Good looking car, definitely not digging the interior. But I'm sure its a great drive.

Six speaker stereo, car navigation, heated seats, lot of other options. 1.2 litre turbo. 15,000 bucks. Not a mark on it. Paid cash. Will drive 6-7 years or maybe longer.
Base GT 42,710 + 301A package 2k + auto 1.5k then + 1.2k for active exhaust. So 47k without the shipping. This is a well equipped base GT wouldn’t say cheapest. Great job on the deal, just have to live outside major metropolitan areas! Yay…. lol

I don't want a screen. I don't want a vehicle with two screens. I don't want anything at all with a killswitch. I want a car with points, mechanical pumps, rack and pinion steering, and a carburator, if gas. Glow plugs if diesel. I want to charge my battery with water.
I agree, when I purchased my Shelby new I bought it from a dealership that 90% of their sales were F150s. I actually got to drive my car off of the showroom floor for the first test drive at 3 miles. Ended up paying 1000 dollars off MSRP when most dealerships had Shelbys at a $5-10,000 markup.

I’m a Mustang guy, can probably tell by my pfp. I love the exterior on these. The new angle of the taillights and the new style of headlights are great changes imo. However, I’m still trying to decide if I’m a fan of what everyone is going to now with the “tablet” style instrument gauge. Especially for a high performance vehicle. The dark horses are so sick though. I need one in my life.
Orford a dark horse originally but felt the S550 was my better option. 23 GT premium peft package. Little over 12k in options. Problem is I'm in Canada and we pay roughly 20k more

Best bargain for muscle is a factory-equipped LS car (C5, C6, F-body...). Fox Bodies were shitboxes when new, made popular by their ease to swap-in a Chevy motor and turn it into a lightweight drag car. Now they aren't even cheap. Zero point in building the stock 4.9L, literally a waste of iron.
In actually there are no muscle cars left. The Challenger was the last one in 23. The Mustang and Camaro are more of a pony or sports car and the Corvette is definately a sports or exotic sport car.

The LT1 is the way to go with the Camaro. To me it has the most direct link to the original SS. Although nice as well, the SS today is a track car and not too many people are going to use its potential.

My S65 came from Europe with the forged Cromodora 19" performance wheels. $8500 upcharge a decade ago on the sticker. The stock AMG wheels are 20"...bigger isn't better.
Now buy the Roush supercharger kit for $7,600 through Ford Performance. The supercharger would boost the Mustang GT's output up to 700 hp and 610 lb-ft of torque.

Find a store that has a “floor plan loan” and ask for a deal on a car that’s been sitting for a while. They lease all of the vehicles on their floor plan from a bank so they’ve got to move their inventory. That’s your ticket to a big discount like OP got, on a mustang that’s probably been sitting on the show room for months.
These auto prices are ridiculous. I only paid $32,000 for my 2012 Mustang GT back in 2013 and it was fully loaded minus the shaker 500 stereo system. 42 grand for a Mustang GT is not cheap especially for a plain Jane base model.

lol I just bought a used Toyota Raize with 29k km ( 18k miles) on it. Beauty of a car. Got a little trade on my old car. Ordered some nice leather seats and a few other options.

15,000 bucks. Not a mark on it.

I agree, when I purchased my Shelby new I bought it from a dealership that 90% of their sales were F150s. I actually got to drive my car off of the showroom floor for the first test drive at 3 miles. Ended up paying 1000 dollars off MSRP when most dealerships had Shelbys at a $5-10,000 markup.
Maybe the cheapest with less options is better than the more expensive one, with sports package. This will look more understated.
You can buy a 2015 hellcat for around 40 grand and get 300 extra hp
But it will be beat to hell. This is a better deal.

I am so sick of the turbo engine BS. they are generally less reliable, harder to work on, and have a lower ceiling on performance mods. I dont want a turbo v6. I want a v8.
I test drove one of these the other day at my local Ford dealership. I gotta say very beautiful car dealership wanted $58K. As I was coming back I got smoked by a BMW MINIVAN"!. $58K let that sink in for a while 😅

I’m a Mustang guy, can probably tell by my pfp. I love the exterior on these. The new angle of the taillights and the new style of headlights are great changes imo. However, I’m still trying to decide if I’m a fan of what everyone is going to now with the “tablet” style instrument gauge. Especially for a high performance vehicle. The dark horses are so sick though. I need one in my life.
Orford a dark horse originally but felt the S550 was my better option. 23 GT premium peft package. Little over 12k in options. Problem is I'm in Canada and we pay roughly 20k more
The new door handles are a downgrade among other things. Just buy the s550
You can also get a fox body Mustang with V8. That’s the best bargain for a muscle car.

You obviously don’t see the potential. Watch what Roush and Saleen did with those V8s. They are simple and reliable. Crown Vics used the same engine. You can leave them to run for a long time, or modify it to crank out double the output.

Best bargain for muscle is a factory-equipped LS car (C5, C6, F-body...).
Fox Bodies were shitboxes when new, made popular by their ease to swap-in a Chevy motor and turn it into a lightweight drag car. Now they aren't even cheap.

In actually there are no muscle cars left. The Challenger was the last one in 23. The Mustang and Camaro are more of a pony or sports car and the Corvette is definately a sports or exotic sport car.

Haha thats stupid i bought my 2022 camaro lt1 with everything in it. I mean every option. I bought it out the costco doors for 37k with taxes 41k bought some 1le wheels from a guy in the city that were prestine condition for 1k bucks. So for 42k i have a way better car that that turd box.

The LT1 is the way to go with the Camaro. To me it has the most direct link to the original SS. Although nice as well, the SS today is a track car and not too many people are going to use its potential.

A rule of thumb is that prices/values double roughly every 12 years. In 2001 I bought a V8 Mustang Convertible with leather seats for $23k. Accordingly it should cost about $92k today (24-ish years later). So yeah, $42k seems decent
I remember in 2014 you could get a mustang gt or Camaro SS for around 30k from a good dealer. Crazy that they’re trying to convince people that it’s worth 50% more when wages have not gone up 50%

I remember when 17" wheels on Corvettes were MASSIVE. Now, they put huge wheels with itty-bitty tires...so you can hit potholes and pay $1-3k each to replace them.
My S65 came from Europe with the forged Cromodora 19" performance wheels. $8500 upcharge a decade ago on the sticker. The stock AMG wheels are 20"...bigger isn't better.
Now buy the Roush supercharger kit for $7,600 through Ford Performance. The supercharger would boost the Mustang GT's output up to 700 hp and 610 lb-ft of torque.
It's funny that Dodge has all the car media outlets saying the Demon is the last V8 standing. But the fail to mention that it's the 2023 Demon, where Fords Mustang is a 2024 V8

As a ford tech that has been behind the wheel of pretty much the exact same car as the one in the video for the price it is a great car you get the feel and look of the new mustang without truly breaking the bank
Save yourself 10k and buy an s550 gt with pretty low miles. Looks better inside and out as well.
Find a store that has a “floor plan loan” and ask for a deal on a car that’s been sitting for a while. They lease all of the vehicles on their floor plan from a bank so they’ve got to move their inventory. That’s your ticket to a big discount like OP got, on a mustang that’s probably been sitting on the show room for months.
These auto prices are ridiculous. I only paid $32,000 for my 2012 Mustang GT back in 2013 and it was fully loaded minus the shaker 500 stereo system. 42 grand for a Mustang GT is not cheap especially for a plain Jane base model.
I have seen a few Mustang GT’s advertised under $40k. Pretty great value in today’s market.
They offer big discounts because people are tired of dealer markups, and now they need to move that inventory.
Inflation is out of control. There will be a breaking point.
