    Awesome tech, I’ve just got a set of Now Drive bindings with the same feature. Now as for the age front, I’m approaching one and a half times your age… man up you’ll be fine for another 20 years at least

      You have 4000 plus days of snowboarding under your belt? It ain't the age, it's the mileage.

    I have jones Orions and i dont like the hinge. When one footing it flops more and i feel like a good snag will rip it apart. I also dont like how it packs in a snowboard bag since i am doing more west coast days compared to east coast days at this point

    So it's exactly the same thing that Burton has? It works, never felt like I needed it and I don't miss it on my Salomon bindings but it does work. You still have to get that toestrap out of the way though so there's that.

      Jones has it on the toe straps too.

    This feature is on my set of 2015 Burton Genesis EST bindings. Personally I prefer the regular set up that snaps back in to position, primarily because the ankle strap and buckle are kind of heavy and they tend to flap all over the place with the flexy hinge. This can get pretty annoying when skating around, getting on lifts as it gets caught and trapped on all sorts of shit. The potential for damage to the buckle is pretty high. Furthermore all that flexing on a thinner section of plastic seems like a real bad idea too. Mine are still good but this is probably because I am lucky if I even got 10 days on snow per season over the last decade. Still..strap ons for life.

    Great thanks, now if only Jones can make something with an adjustable base so I can actually center my boot in the binding I’ll give them another try.

      @@brianp9268 I’m talking about boot centered in the binding not centered on the board. I tried everything on the Jones Mercurys but I always had too much heel overhanging off the binding.

      @@JollyOrfali i have never worried about by boots overhanging my bindings evenly in my life. If you just cut off some of the toe of the footpad would that change the performance of the binding?

    • @JollyOrfali
      @JollyOrfali 2 місяці тому

      @@brianp9268 cool do whatever works for you, many other binding companies have a a better adjustment for centering your boot in the binding, Union for example with their adjustable heel cup. No matter how much I messed with the Mercurys, I could not get it set to how I like my bindings set up which is with the boot centered in the binding. This is how I like to ride, it feels better when I have equal overhanging pressure on my heels and toes.

    I concur - it is not a great idea. I am slightly oldor than Avran, but never had an issue with pushing a normal strap out of the way with the toecap of my boot or just "slipping" the boot in under it. First seaoson on some Jones bindings with that hinge, I however soon faced a problem with the strap flapping back and forth when skating and thus eventually ending up under your foot as you step on the board. Stepping on the strap sure does not prolong its life and the edges of the ratches leave some notable scratches in the topsheet.
    Therefore I could very well do without that hinge.

    I actually like it. Easy to put the foot in. Over time, with the weight of the strap do you see the hinge tearing? Especially if its flapping around over a season.
