That was well timed. EP8, rigid mount & flip-ups should be arriving this week. I didn't think I needed a tutorial on fitting lens caps .....but hey :) Wouldn't have thought of using iso-propyl alcohol for fitting the caps, normally used for cleaning finger (& paw lol) prints off the TV, sound bar, music system etc. Thanks for all your tips ...all the best from 🇬🇧
ive never had a problem with the front cover it's always been the back end (eye piece) that seems to always fall off. IDK maybe I am doing it wrong lol but I will give it another try.
No issues so far with my flip Its but, I wish Arken made them so the diopter was still accessible after installation. Probably would require the Flip It to be too large ?
The caps arken sent with my 1-8 fit so tight i had a little difficulty putting them on they are not coming off my issue is it's so tight i can't adjust the focus i got Frustrated trying to turn the focus and just took the cap off but it was difficult to get off too.
Correct That is NOT a focus it's the diopter to adjust the reticle to your unique eye condition.. it is only to focus ... Once ! Then you put the cap over it. and it actually keeps it from moving around so you wont lose your focus of your reticle. The Parallax on a full size optic is used for the focus. .. not even sure we have a parallax for our LVPO as the lens are designed most times to work for 1-8 mag with no need to adjust.
I understand but I'm getting old and some days my eyes are ok and other days I can't see as good and need a little adjustment right now I can't see straight lines or the color red out of my left eye and straight lines are are moving snakes.
The covers were an over priced low quality disappointment to me personally. I wasted money on that first pair and have gone back to using Butler Creek covers on all my scopes. Bit annoying driving often to multiple stores to find the right caps, but the better choice IMO. Good tips for putting on all caps.
@@RugerGundog Having to use two hands to open an over tight cap that moves around like its mounted in jello is not working fine to me. Oiling plastic? Glad they work for you.
@RugerGundog I'm serious! One can get an old truck innertube at any tire store. The destroyed ones go into the trash and you can cut a bunch with what's left. Take extras to hunting camp to share with your friends. They wrap around the entire scope protecting it in rubber. They are the absolute best.

Thanks for checking in.
Isopropyl alcohol.. works nicely on many of my cleaning jobs on my rifle..
It does....cheap stuff too
Great tips !
Glad you think so!

Yea..make it grip a bit better.
some plumber or painters tape wrapped around scope will make things tighter.

Yea..set diopter first
Do you not ever find a need to adjust the eye diopters, after you've put the back flipit on?
No i set it once and it's set for good.

The diopter? That should be a one and done setting for your crosshairs

Only issue I have with them is they won't stay clips closed
Well damn....I didn't cover that. The complaints I see are too tight.
The way to deal with that is to pull them slightly OFF the face of the tube about 1/4 or so.. so they are not getting pushed back to flip up..
@randalloc yeah that don't help. Lol I've put them at 3 an 9 and if u bump the there open regardless of where u bump them.

I had buttler ones 30y ago. Has design remained same?
It has remained same since 2000 @ least. Not dating myself any older than that 😅
Hahahaha..I hear ya!
Glad to see these are as terrible as mine are. Thought this might convince me to take them back out of the box, nope. 🤣
Well they work fine. Just follow these steps

Try a bit of lube on the lip. Pop open close a few times.
Plastic ties solve the problem for me.
That works too.
I toss all these scope caps in the trash. A slice of inner tube is vastly superior.
Lol.
