That is the plan. Will show you guys how you can land the shot on target same way with a turret spin or using the hold over. Will also show a few easy calculators that give you the numbers you need to use.
I thought maybe he was holding the scope sideways or something! I definitely can’t wait to see how you get 2 mil elevation by holding 2 mil right lol I’m only playing with you, simple mistake. Still good info
Awesome I'm glad to be of help. My goal is to keep the presentation very real and average guy and bring things to the subscribers right from the new owner up to the seasoned shooter. Next few episodes will piece it together a bit more.
Rugerdog great vid.. looking forward to the next video. Took your advice and you were spot on. Your my go to for optics reviews. Thanks for what you do...
ok so I am a bit slow, but my top turret says up/down and not windage.. Assuming that is your top turret @ 4:59 as I can see a level attached that is pretty close to "level"?
Just found channel....and noticed HZP plaque...congrats. Fellow JGHV person. I am in SEHC with drahts.... enjoyed data and opinions on this scope which has intrigued me though hard for me to want to buy anything that shows is made in China...but the Japanese glass is outstanding. More to think about...thanks.
Just about to mount the new Arken SH-4Gen2 6x24x50mm VPR reticule on my AR-10. Went with Arkens 20moa one piece 34mm scope mounts. Hoping that can handle the recoil of 7.62 ok, as I really do not wanna make this already heavy scope more beefy with badger ordinance steel rings? I would love to see you use it on the range.
First love the channel and subscribed as well. I really appreciate these videos for us beginners. If you could let me know I have a Tippmann M4 22LR and want to put the Arken EPL4 - 6-24-50on it. Looking at the VPR - MOA or should I get it in MIL spec. It will be for target shooting and would like to get into that with another 22LR down the road. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also what rings would you recommend for that scope with my Tippmann M4. Thanks
I realize this., made a poor visual. Was a figurative visualization to demonstrate reticle is a flat turret. Was just an oversight on making a point. Will clear er up next video. Thanks for the comment
My elevation turret seems to be broken. When I turn it, it moves my impact point up instead of to the left. Sorry, i had to make a joke 😅. Thanks for the vid.
Don't get whapped around the axils with subtentions. The only subtention anyone needs to worry about is .25 and .5 of a mil (mil scope) with tactical shooting. If you need more or less than these hold high or low, leading or trail edges of these subtentions. Don't make long-range shooting harder than it already is.
I see where there could be confusion way I made the example. I make a point to mention it in the next one actually making adjustments and taking shots.
Scopes for dummies The easiest to use is Mil-Rad If you can count to 10 (this is why metric is so easy compared to SAE ) But I agree MOA I much more accurate at long distances But that's not scopes for dummies
oh no.... it is intended for dummies, so imagine how confused they might get.... it is just 2 weeks old video, please edit and re-upload... It is not too late to correct it and save some frustration for the new guy...
@@RugerGundog 90% of civilians don't know anything / are not interested / are "all talk and no walk" when it comes to precision rifle shooting at range, so the majority is still on the military side. Keep in mind, there is a whole world out there, not just US. Right now, if you want to be able to shot / operate at any time, in any location, MRAD is the standard. MOA is just something that US civilians use to feel different. If you still feel I am wrong, convince me with facts, not slogans.
In the UK we still mostly use MOA it's in the imperial measurement, as in inch, yard, miles. You can choose between 1/8th or 1/4 MOA, i use 1/8th for long range target work, out too 1200yrd. Hope this helps 👍
@@davegrimshaw7318 well, both work, but 1/10 MIL is enough to touch the target at 1200m. Apparently MOA looks simpler to some shooters (mostly from countries that use the imperial units of measure) because they do the transformation from MOA to inches. Once they realize that there is no need to do this conversion and learn to think directly in MOA or MILS, MOA advantages start dropping like flies. Having said that, if everyone around you uses one unit of measure, you better think long and hard before choosing something else. You don't want to end up having to do conversions from the corrections they give you in their unit of measure to your unit of measure.
Next video should be interesting. I want to how you turn the elevation turret and have the bullet strike to the left.

Getting ready to buy a couple of Arken optics didn’t know the difference between vpr and vhr thanks
Good stuff and much needed info.

Yes...side is windage. I was holding it incorrectly while blabbering. I spoke of that in next video
Thanks for informing us differences between VPR and VHR reticles.
No problem!
Very infomrative, you deserve more views
Well thank you.

You don't use the elevation turret to move left

Is there a way to get the exploded image file like you have there?
On the purchase page of Arken I believe.
My elevation turret seems to be broken. When I turn it, it moves my impact point up instead of to the left.

Hahaah.....yea I addressed that bit of a "filming" blunder hahaha.
Okay....wait it was a test to see who was paying attention hahahahah
@RugerGundog , exactly, good way to test your students.
If "Arken Reticles for Dummies" is a actually a book, I want to buy it! If it's not a actual book, it should be!!!

You realize you used elevation turret to show windage holdover right?
Yea, was holding damn thing wrong. I did mention it in narrative. Production error...lol

Many people are so stuck with "inch" here in usa it works well for them as does the added precision of smaller adjustments per click.

MOA is not the standard. If it was standard, the military would be using it
Military is by no means standard or gold standard anything. Civilian market is also much much larger usage.

Don’t ever buy! I have one that won’t track and they want pictures and videos to warranty!! Save your money
I'm sure you can just send it it. It's a unconditional warranty. I mean you can run it over and they will warranty it.
So take pics and video to get a replacement. If you were in their position wouldn’t you want pics and vid?
I have a sh4 6x24x50 ona 308 and it works extermely well for me at 1000 yds. !
I'm sure that it does. It's a great optic!!!
