    Definitely put a mag clutch on it. You do not want that running constantly even for a weekend driver. Supercharged and turbocharged designed to run at low rpm's. Try snagging and repurposing the front clutch pulley off of an AC compressor for a Toyota spyder. If you want to do it right you could even run in Arduino to a relay, writing a basic program that runs off of barometric pressure differences (using a map or maf sensor for reference). When you romp on the gas, there will be a significant pressure drop. Then all you have to do is set when (what pressure) the Arduino signals the relay and the AC clutch engages the supercharger.
    You will have to do the math to see what the boost will be using that clutch but I am sure you can find a bigger or smaller diameter pulley in any junk yards with the same PK ribs.
    If you use the Arduino, sensor with a AC clutch and relay setup like I suggested, it will allow the clutch to bite in and ramp up as it engages. It will also be worry-free and you wouldn't have to worried about when it engages as it will only engage if you floor it and you can use it as a daily driver when you want to and drive sensibly and the supercharger won't engage. It will also keep it from engaging at lower speeds so you don't stall at lower RPM from the excessive torque drag. You can also change when it engages whether it be earlier or later using the Arduino and changing the values for the signal relay.
    You can pick up the Arduino for under $40. You have two wires coming in for the signal, onewire leaving to go to the relay, a transistor to drop it down to 5v, a relay and wiring from the relay to the clutch pulley. It would be a under $100 diy standalone system.
    Can't help you with the intercooler cuz that has to be based off of what space you have. When spiders first came out I saw some unique scoop designs for the intercooler... They look like a goofy center snorkel and took air flow from the center and blew it down into the engine compartment. They were fiberglass dance moves to look like they were part of the org equipment... I don't know how they set up the intercooler though but they did look strange. Pretty sure you could do an image search and find what I'm talkin about. I would not advise running the intercooler to the front because that's a lot of tube and you would lose boost given the volume of air that you would be compressing. Best rule of thumb is to keep the intercooler close by with minimal piping. SC are very different than turbos.
    Good luck and keep us updated. If you need any help get me back on this msg.

    Monkeywrench has two bolt in supercharger kits that relocate the alternator. So it's possible, but i would have picked a different charger than you selected. Good luck with your build.

      Yep definitely agree! With one of their kits, I still would be inclined to cut an access hole in the firewall just for ease of access. Also, engine would probably need to come out to install the kit? maybe not? (would be a pain to install though). Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching! :)

    You're gonna need a manifold on the output side of your SC with good flow characteristics. FEA then build a 3d printed mold. Or not and use aluminum and a brake.

    Hello, I too have a zzw30 2zz swapped running the blitz kit with the tx12, just water to air rather than the front mount the celica kit comes with. Obviously the blitz kit is designed to relocate the alternator for fitting the SC where the alt goes with the cast alloy sump. I have a second 2zz spyder that I am considering fitting a SC14 to from a JDM estima that I have sitting here. They are both very similar but the sc14 does have bigger port flanges, as you can see all the measurements are on the ogura site in those tables. I have some experience running the 2zz on both a power fc and a haltech elite 1000, if you want a few tips and tricks for how to run this please let me know

      i was wondering this, if i decide to run this supercharger on my 2zz celica and i somehow get it to fit, what would be best? Power FC? would ther stock ecu be able to even handle any of it at all until i get the power fc?

    • @gastancehouse
      @gastancehouse  Рік тому

      Wow that is awesome!!! You’d fit right in with my brother and I! Haha. I will definitely take any help I can get! Do you have an Instagram or anything I can reach out to you on?

    • @61l44
      @61l44 Рік тому +1

      @@Awsomw Power FC is okay but you'd want a standalone SC clutch controller if you use a magnetic clutch, that's what the blitz kit uses. If you use a permanent SC it will be fine, though will probably need an injector upgrade. Factory 2zz ones are on the limit with the blitz SC kit and that flows less air than an SC14, as well as that they have an upgraded FPR in the fuel tank. I def wouldnt trust the stock ECU to manage.

    Pretty cool build tho' Id avoid the refurbished units, just buy a good used one as these can not be refurbished because the rotor bearings for these simply do not exist. All the extra you paying for is a super cheap paint job and a cement mixer pulley.

    • @gastancehouse
      @gastancehouse  Рік тому

      Appreciate that! Honestly the refurbished units are just the most readily available and cheapest that I could find. I would say that whether you go used or refurbished, you're taking chance with the internals.. That being said, I probably should open it up and see what I've got.. haha

      From what I am finding, the MP62 (I think this what comes on the 2zz Exiges) puts out about 1000 cc/rev. So depending on what pulley size I go with, the SC14 has the potential to put out more power than the lotus. Definitely going to be some experimenting and trial and error to get it to a safe number that I feel good about. Appreciate the comment!!!

      You’re right! I think if I were install a supercharger on the intake side, I’d be tempted to cut the firewall just to have a removable access panel to make it easier to work on. Definitely would not be necessary though!

    • @gastancehouse
      @gastancehouse  Рік тому +1

      If you can find the space for the supercharger, it shouldn't be any more difficult! The issue is that there is so much on the intake side of the engine that it may be hard to find space. I believe my brother's Blitz kit actually had to relocate the alternator and use the custom intake manifold to make space.
