I remember when Basel played Chelsea in the champions league and you could tell Salah would be some player. It took a while but boy has he come into his own now
i watched De Bruyne in a training video and i was impressed with his shooting and in his early career he was a good dribbler ,, i waned him to play instead of Oscar who play like a Magician in one game and goes missing in 10 games in a row ..
I kinda remember that game, wasn't his goal the one that beat us?
Then we signed him in the Jan window, its unfortunate he never really got a chance.
Yeah I was at their 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge in the 13/14 UCL.
When at the games you can really tell who stands out and he was by far and away the best player on the pitch.

Needed a system and manager that suited him. Trent gets forward free's Mo up on the right. If we had a traditional RB then Mo wouldn't be as effective

It's crazy how close KDB came to playing under Klopp at Dortmund. Factor in his childhood support for Liverpool and there's definitely an alternative timeline where De Bruyne plays in this current Liverpool team

I was fortunate enough to watch KDB live twice in 2013. For me he was the best player on the pitch. How Mourinho could not see his value is beyond me...
Easier to say in hindsight, Chelsea's core team in that period was irreplaceable they proved himself later on both mo and kdb

In my opinion, it was Chelsea upper management to be blame rather than Mourinho. I mean they sack like 6 managers (including di Matteo who brought them first Champions league title!!) in the span of 5 years before Mourinho's second reign at Chelsea, so there's pressure to deliver instant success and I guess there's no trust-the-process either in Abramovich's playbook 😂
Abramovich is the most successful owner in the football business by far, try and buy his club now, it will cost you 5 time more than the money he has invested in, and I can tell you he's way ahead of what other owners are thinking. Players come and go, but a good owner doesn't come along that often.

When you really think about it, there were multiple teams that helped Liverpool get to this point. But,

Mourinho was more concerned about his own success and legacy. He only trusted established players who were more likely to win him games. At a club like Chelsea where you could get fired for finishing second, his job security was his priority, not players' development. Hopefully, Tuchel can integrate more young players into the team and still win. It's sad to see many talented young players end up like Piazon.

His job was to win, not player development, if you don't win and you are gone what good is player development? Especially when you have great players on the team, already. ppl forget that those players didnt play the same way they do today, and that if you were a couch and you had the team you had and your job on the line at any given point, you wouldnt make decisions that could cost you heavily, not to mention the ego of the older players like matta for example, whcih at that time was said to be one of the best at his role, in the end its probably something due to the owners of cheasea not letting coaches do a long time goal of 3 seasons and throwing coaches under the oven and taking it out raw instead of letting it cook.
yeah i got really upset when Mata was sold but when Salah was brought in i thought we finally had a replacement. And later gets replaced with Cuadrado which turned into a flop at Chelsea.
Yes I remember how mata was the moment player also many players have in there contract to be regular starters or just to start amount of games. And many old players have that which to give a chance to a Rookie is a big risk and specially coaching top club that wants to win every match

It’s sad though coz the Chelsea players who kept Debryne and Salah in bench are currently playing somewhere in less significant leagues or they’re past their prime. For example, Willian and Hazard. Salah couldn’t compete with these two hence the reason why he was benched. Oscar was ruling the number 10 role back then with Mikel and Lampard playing exceptionally well in our midfield which as a result debryune couldn’t cut it. And now these two are the main characters of the league title race saga we’ve been witnessing in these past few seasons between Liverpool and Man City.

Mourinho's 2nd spell at the Blues was disastrous even though he picked up another premier league title, and any fool could've done it simply because we had a great talented squad packed with superstars at the time. He also singlehandedly destroyed the club by selling of the young talented players that we had. KDB, Salah & Lukaku were huge mistakes and this was followed by Mata & Schurrle.. Mourinho was only interested in proven marquee players which clearly shows he doesn't have a clue on what he's doing other than being a pragmatic boring defensive, park your bus kinda coach..

Mourinho was the one who built that title winning squad. fabregas and costa were very essential to that team winning the title. its easy to look back now and criticise mourinho or whoever sold these players. But they were all young and needed patience. But at Chelsea if managers don't start winning from their first game, they will be out of the club. Mourinho had to choose between young Debruyne, Salah and lukaku against more established players like Mata and Willian. Other players like Oscar and Hazard were already much better at the time. Mourinho winning that title proves he was right to do so.
We should've and could've won the league 3 times in a row and reached the CL semi at least twice, if it wasn't for his ego and dinosaur tactics in some games (Vs atletico 13/14, vs psg 14/15 and 15/16)
