I like to watch you on your pen doing actual digging and weeding and not airyfairying around with cardboard and tons of bags of compost from the store, well done, I am 74 now and struggling a bit but will keep going as long as possible.
You are something! Your ideas on fixing the tunnel are dead on, and the bird feeder! You're a way better gardener than you think Sarah! Well done, and you're teaching me too! I've been gardening for 40 years, and there is always something else to learn! Truly enjoyed this, thank you Sarah!
😊hey Sarah if ya want willow balls.. just an observation as to what I'd do would be to carefully lean the branches around in a way to form a ball shape by tying branches to one another to encourage growth in the direction you favor and keep tying branches up as they grow to train them 😊 awesome job on the bird feeder! And the sweet pea trellises turned out great! 😊 good job 😊
I have never seen anyone, drill a hole and use a zip tie to attach a piece of wood too something. I think your bloody brilliant!!!!! I shall be stealing your clever idea. Thanks for the vid, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Blessings to you.
Sara for someone who keeps saying you don’t know what you’re doing a really good job! This is from an avid gardener when I had good spot big or small most of my life! I still try a tomato and few other things some times it works well it’s hit or miss! Can’t wait to see it all grow! ✌🏻💞😊
@@sarahsallotmentjourney I think you know more than you think! You would be surprised how much you “absorb as a child! Trust yourself you have great instinct! I enjoy this side of you! I hope Mick is well! 😊
Definitely a wise task you carried out on the Rhubarb Sarah. Flower's just shoot up tall then end up going to seed and strip energy from the plant itself. I don't mind a visit or two from Magpies to our bird table, its Pigeons that drive me mad. They are the most greedy birds and they seem to chuck food everywhere. On saying that though, the Black birds love that, as they like to forage bits and bobs from the ground. 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks for sharing your gardening adventures at the allotment. Its looking fabulous. Its going to be blooming gorgeous. X
The green netting you got to keep the Magpies out became my biggest enemy in my first garden,I learned thru trial & error that small hole chicken wire worked much better,it is cheap, comes in large rolls(to cover a large area)you cut it larger than your boxes then you shape it like a dome, put it over each plot stick a little bit in the ground & it works great, plants can grow thru it,you an water thru it,& it lifts off & on easily!❤
Good jobs Sarah, the cage and sweet pea frames look great.... I remember my raspberry canes just sat there looking at me for about two years, then they decided to pull themselves together, so its a good idea to leave it there and see if it stops being silly!...... I had so many raspberries over the years that i had to give bowls of them to my neighbours and family!......ps i just added the scissors to my list as well. I couldnt see it on your list so i compared them from the video, (the grooved edge on the finger thingys and colour) to the ones on Amazon ..thanks for the recommendation.
@@sarahsallotmentjourney I guessed it was something like that...ive just ordered them, thanks again for the recommendation. 🙂Edit, they have arrived and they work great.
My favorite are sweet peas 🫛…..Your doing great Sarah keep up the great work! I was hoping you would show the children’s Tee-Pee maybe next time. Fantastic and creative cage for the bird feeder ! My brother has a large plastic upside down cone style roof he gets really into it like you 😂😂😂 Have a wonderful week ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
Oh good-I just took the flower spikes off mine too but had no idea if that was the right thing to do! 😂 I just went on the logic of if it flowers it then dies, so I lobbed the spike off. 😂
I would not plant grass around the edging. Grass can zap much needed nutrients. I have been gardening for over 50 years while I don’t claim to be an expert, the less weeds and grass the better for your garden plants. Willow is another nutrient and moisture zapping plant.
I find all this very interesting. We don't have anything like this in the US. We just plant things like this in our own yards at home. Are you not allowed to??? I love learning about new countries and new people! I think you are doing an amazing job missy!
California has community allotments, there are 3 by where I live, so.e within senior areas and some are part of our parks and rec. The allotments are hard to come by because people stick with them forever! I do plant in my yards, in raised beds and pots.
I only have a yard as I live in a terraced house . So a terraced house is a row of houses with tiny hard floored back yard you call your gardens back yards but to us a yard is Hard surfaces small outdoor spaces
The raspberries I've known grow for two or three years and then die. The first year's canes don't have fruit but year 2 and 3 do. The dead canes are obvious and you should remove them every year.
Oooh. Okay! Let's talk! So you are direct sowing your Sweet Pea seeds in Mid May? I sowed mine in the greenhouse maybe a month ago and I lost ½ because they got scorched and now I don't have enough so I was either thinking of direct sowing some more OR just buying some from the garden centre. BUT since you are direct sowing in May then maybe I will too 🤔. What do you say?
Don’t know how you do everything, not me I keep my growing very small. Do you think you may need chickens? Well maybe you can’t but someone should around the allotment.
You are very amusing to watch ! Your display of emotion over the spiders has me 🤣 I hope your fear lessens with time!
I think you sweet pea trellis looks fantastic. Thank you Sarah.
Thanks

Putting us to shame with how much your getting accomplished Sarah 💪. Have a fab week and hope it’s good weather this week, Ali 🌞🇨🇦

Great job, Sarah! xx
I always take the flower off the rhubarb it help keep the stems from getting woody.

I love your new channel Sarah, I just missed your live but I'm here for a rewind 💖✨✨🌸☘️🌸✨👏
Spiders are a gardener’s best friend..they kept the bugs off our plant’s..
Yes you can cut the flowers off the rhubarb.
I like your ingenuity. No Magpie going to bully the little ones.

The netting was £1 fir 10m can’t get chicken wire for that round here .
You're a hard worker Sarah. I am sure the cage round the bird feeder will work wonders and keep those big guys off. I need one of those round mine.
Thanks i only get the tiny birds at it now
Your so creative. Good job on that cage.

Hello Sarah
I enjoy your vlog. Your soil is so dark. What kind is it please? Thank you 🍰🌟👍
It’s just the soil in the ground . If I buy bags of compost it’s just I eat free compost
I do have a traumatic spider story that happened in the poly tunnel I may tell it one day

They are growing a few haven’t germinated but I did the left overs in pots that are also growing now too so I can fill any gaps with those .

No chickens allowed they bring the rats out in force
Yes. Cut the rhubarb flowers off.
They are a waste of energy for the plant.
