  • This handplane was a collaborated effort. Ben From Woby Design supplied the skateboard blanks. JT from DFM Toolworks supplied the new plane iron and chip breaker.
When Ben sent me some skateboard blanks my mind was racing. I had so many ideas and couldnt decide on what to do. I knew I had to incorporate one of the blanks into something I'd use everyday and never sell or give away.
I've really become hooked on hand tools in the past couple years. I don't use them exclusively but I try to incorporate them as often as I can. There is just something about taking a sharp blade to wood and not creating dust, but producing a perfectly smooth surface.
Special thanks to Ben from Woby Design

I really like this idea! My grandfather's plane came with a broken handle and I always thought it would be cool to make a new one. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration 👍🍻

Subscriber number 400 :D :D Hey why not?
Please don't mind me saying but is there a reason you repeatedly drill a small deep hole and then use a forstner bit to cut out a larger countersink? Being the armchair woodworker I am I would of thought it more practical to make a shallow countersink with the larger bit first and then completed the deeper hole with it being centred at the bottom of the countersink. Not that anyone can tell that by looking at the finished product. Nice job BTW :D

Sounds like it did it backwards. Whoops. It did fine but I’ll need to keep that in mind. Thanks.
