Great video Scott. Definitely a high impact storm for our area.

Not as bad as Sandy but worse than Irene and the Dec 1992 Nor’easter. This is the 2nd worst I have seen on Crossbay Blvd in my 56 years!

Those poor BMWs lol, my subaru would've been fine
I appreciate those officers getting their socks and shoes soaked helping people. It seems that NYC gets at least one flood event per year now. Last year was crazy though

Yeah those vehicles were so low to ground they never had a chance making it through that. And the NYPD did a fantastic job on this one, and I talked to many of them even after they had gotten soaked and they were in good spirits. Although they were cold lol. Thankfully it was still in the 50s outside when this all occurred. About 10 hours later we were in the low teens!

Someone needs to clear the storm drains

Amen lol. The storm drains in Queens are rarely cleaned, and while today's surge was as a result of the storm, the storm drains being clogged certainly didn't help I'm sure.

It would save so many problems this would have not happened…. Post 10 (UA-cam drain guy) is great at that

Over a billion dollars we're spent post sandy on storm drainage/barriers/anti flood measures the simple fact is these low lying areas of queens and Brooklyn can't take that much rain in so short a period of time couple that with high tides and it's sandy again .

@victor Sforza No doubt there's only so much that can be done in these low lying lying areas, but many of the storm drains that I saw in the area the other morning hadn't been cleaned in quite a long time. So that combined with the low-lying nature of that area to begin with is certainly not going to help. Several police officers I spoke to mentioned this is well. Flooding will still happen in these areas regardless, even if the storm drains were spotless, but you don't want to exacerbate the problem on top of it.

Not so funny when weather kills people.
