1980s NYC - Strong Thunderstorm July 16, 1988 (Front Porch Chase)

The 1980s here in NYC were an amazing time to grow up, especially if you had a video camera like I had. This video is the first that will be featured in my '1980s NYC' playlist. Some videos in this playlist will be weather related, like this one, others will not. But they all will share one thing in common, 1980s NYC, or more specifically, Queens NY.

Sadly, I am that old LOL! But yes, I began my 'front porch chase' years in 1987. I've been upscaling some of my old 1980s videos, and will be posting more from that decade, and the 1990s as well over the coming weeks/months. I'll also be posting some non-weather related content too as I pretty much filmed everything back in the 80s/90s.

Just don't seem like 88 was 36yrs ago!, I had a close encounter here with Lightning that Summer at work one day, Hit about 20ft from where me and my helper were working!, I'm in the Houston, Texas metro area.

You are definitely no stranger to lightning in Houston that's for sure lol! The summer of 88 was hot as hell! I was 15 years old at the time but it was certainly the hottest summer that I had ever experienced. And we had so many thunderstorm days that year, this being one of them. Thanks for checking it out!
