Starting out learning Japanese has been easier than starting to figure out where to start with X-men. I really enjoyed wolverine and the X-men when I watched it recently on Disney plus so I wanted to finally read the comics
It took me 2 years to read from x-men 1 to around 2002, i was in a house with no internet during college and those comics kept me sane, I stopped reading in 2012 and i want to jump back in where i left.
@@troyo3172 I don't know the exact official order but I started with House of X and Powers of X as a fan of X-Men adaptations via movies and shows growing up and yes, that definitely helped provide all the context I was missing for new X-Men related content 💁🏽♀️ For strictly new stuff after House/PowersX I recommend Avengers VS X & then Uncanny X-Men 2013 (by Brian Michael Bendis and Chris Bachalo) in that order specifically and New Mutants, Excalibur, Marauders; those 3 im not sure of the specific chronological order yet (haven't gotten to them yet) but I just know there was a lot of new concepts and characters that I haven't gotten familiar with when I started reading the recent runs of marauders, even with all the background that I do have so I imagine that New mutants and Excalibur probably come before it 😅🤙🏽😁 i HIGHLY recommend the original X-Men Animated series for the rest of the context of story lines if you don't want to read old runs, even just watching the miniseries of episodes on the biggest storylines like the phoenix saga and apocalypse arc would be very helpful If not that AT LEAST watch X-Men 97 which is currently airing (only has 7 episodes out as of this message) because it is the best animated show and also just adaptation of comics I've ever seen and they will be covering more recent and modernized Comics leading up to the New mutants era! Circling back to the beginning point if u don't need any "leading up to material" points at all and are only looking for comics on recent stuff then yeah House of X and Powers of X is an amazing starting off point
Jim Lee's X-men Vol 2 series is a good place to start, and you can still get most of them cheap. But if you want to start at the beginning I would go the trade paperbacks.

I was fortunate enough to start reading X-Men in 1982 when there was only one title to worry about. New Mutants started right after I got into it and there was the first Wolverine limited series. I got out of comics in 1993 after X-Force started and then back in with New X-Men and Astonishing X-Men for a couple of years.
Too many to pick just one. All of Chris Claremont’s run until the Inferno Event ends, Grant Morrison’s New X-Men, Rick Remender’s Uncanny X-Force, and Age of Apocalypse. I could keep going 😂
Same. That part where the X-Men fought both the Avengers and the Soviet team that had Crimson Dynamo on it was awesome. Plus the tension of having to deal with Magneto’s terrorist past was great storytelling.
I had to pause at minute 1:48. I ❤ how you broke down the contents of you video. I’m the type that needs organization and lose interest on people who ramble on without a point. 😂
Subscribed! I have always loved the xmen! I think they are my favorite group of superheroes from the Marvel Universe! Definately needed this vid to help guide me!
Xmen are my favorite but I'd like a video like about Avengers, and the characters like Hulk, Thor and captain america. Then maybe Punisher, Ghost Rider and Venom.
Great video Matt. Being a Silver/Bronze Age reader I love videos with reading orders for this new era. The jumping points are great. There are hosts of others I would like to see you do a reading order for, but one I would be most interested in that has quite an interesting history & relevant today is Namor, the Sub-Mariner.
I might include the Phalanx Covenant crossover. My favorite story with ALL my favorite characters, which gives some interesting backstory into Cable and the rest of the gang..
Are there any collected additions that exist today for reading Chris Claremont run or do you have to buy these essential collections, etc. that have a bunch of other things outside of the title series
This is crazy, because I just bought the House of X/Powers of X graphic novel as a Christmas gift to myself because I've been wanting to catch up with modern X-men storylines
I guess I missed the reading order. What was the reading order? I looked at that website and it’s been updated it seems like since you uploaded this video. Great video though!
Actually I started reading comics since Astonishing X Men (until Kitty was trapped in a bullet traveling through space) and later AvX, that was my starting point to catch up until Destiny of X
My question is if I read the grant Morrison run of X men, will I still be able to understand whats going on later or even what originally happened? My main thing Is I want to be able to read newer issues and understand everything and not have to stop and go back to figure out more story that I missed
I know those has nothing to do with the video but could you please tell me when or if the mafex gwenpool will be restocked because you have a really good price on it but it's out of stock so I was wondering if you will restock it and please answer I need to know if it will or won't be restocked because I've seen some other ones but there more pricey please please please 🙏 answer me

So, thank you for the X-Men goodness 😍. All of the mentioned books are absolutely reading gems. Now, the newest run from Johnathan Hickman is also a great starting point. I am a fan of the X and currently reading all the titles since House and Powers of X. The Excutioner's Song was the story that "brought it home" for me. Big Nerdy, you the man.🤎👍🏿👍🏿

The debuts of both Omega Red and Bishop into the comics are comics gold.
Marvel have actually done a good job of collecting all of X-men in omnibus format. You can get everything from issue 1 to AOA in a complete run.

Grant Morrison's run starts in New X-Men 114...so it makes no sense to say "I don't recommend this, but I recommend this!".
You'll need a lot of caffeine and patience to get through the pre-Neal Adams stuff! X-Men 1-54 is one of the tougher silver age Marvel reads.

Start at X-Men 1 and keep going
