As an atheist, I respect him so much for what he says here. I wish more Christians followed this path as opposed to the exclusionary, self righteous one.
Russell Carter As a Christian, I’m glad that there’s people outside the faith that think this way, I agree that many Christians lack humbleness, and their approach is wrong in many circumstances, evangelizing is one of the many things that most Christians do wrong, mostly because they don’t know how to do it properly, and in many cases both parties (Christians and non believer) get hurt, Skillet is one of the few people that knows how to evangelize correctly, I hope that through Christians that evangelize correctly, we may teach others on doing it right, hopefully decreasing people getting hurt due to Christians misusing the word of God
@I Corinthians 2:14 It's not intellectual weak. There are countless faith claims and god claims, not all of which can be correct. The atheists "position" is not not be convinced for lack of reason. That's it. That's not weak, but pretty reasonable actually.
It's difficult, and near impossible, for a believer in Christ to truly follow Him without first realizing why Jesus came for us! Many are converted and then set out on a path to form their own righteousness, but the whole reason Jesus came is because it can't be done. We as believers must fully exist in and rely on the righteousness of Jesus, the Christ (Messiah). Through His mercy and by His grace we are saved, but if we then think that we have to manufacture something that resembles His righteousness, His perfection we are fooling ourselves! Russell Carter, you have hit on two attitudes that make a Christian really stink in my opinion, exclusiveness and being self righteous. Both are contradictory to the gospel, which promises rescue and deliverance from what we naturally are. Look at the first 3 letters in the following words: manipulate, manufacture, manage, mandate, maneuver.....when man puts his hands and mind to mimic what only God can do, the result is a counterfeit. Russell, may the One True God whom you don't believe in, reveal Himself to you so that you can experience the 'peace that surpasses all understanding!'
I'm blown away by Johns humility In admitting how he got inspired to shift his style of lyrics after watching a linkin Park video in his youth rally! this guy inspires me a lot
It doesn't matter if Christians actually carry themselves that way. What matters is YOUR relationship with Jesus. Jesus isn't a committee, an ideology or a group you need to impress in order to join. He knows you and wants to be in your life. Being a Christian isn't about doing what other Christians say to do or say what other Christians tell you to say. It is about having a personal relationship with Christ and letting Him, alone, be your guide. It's easier for some and harder for others to trust in and follow Christ, I know, I struggle with it constantly, but it is worth the effort because Jesus believes YOU are worth it.
This touched me. I'm not a pushy Christian and I've been fearful that I'm stuck in this live-and-let-live lifestyle that I'm missing opportunity because I'm not putting the message out there. But I'm always honest about my beliefs when asked, so this gives me hope that my coworkers are still receiving seeds even though I not preaching
I like how John isn't afraid or ashamed to share Jesus with people, but he also doesn't grill them with the Gospel right away. I was also raised very legalistic, which drove me away from God for a long time...but listening to Skillet is one thing that makes me feel closer to God nowadays. About a year ago, I was re-baptized by my own choice (it was forced on me as a teen), which was something I felt I both needed and wanted. Please pray for me, that God helps me see and listen to whatever His plans are for my life. I know His broader plan is "to prosper me and not to harm me, to give me hope and a future" (Jer. 39:11) - I'm just not sure of the specifics. So please, keep praying for me; my name is Josh. Thanks.
Moviefan2k4 Amen Brother I’m Glad that you were able to reconcile with the Lord, The Lord Loves you no matter what, remember that he loved you enough to give up his only begotten son John 3:16, I will keep you in my prayers Brother, keep walking in the faith
I love you guys even more because of this! John, Korey, Seth, and Jenn, you're amazing, and Jesus shines through you and your music. Keep doing what you're doing, and may God continue to richly bless you. He's in your music; I hear Him all the time.
Hey my brother, I really appreciate your sincere heart for God and your genuine desire to see the lost come to know Jesus Christ personally. Keep living this truth from the Word: “.....let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” (1 John 3:18 NLT) God bless.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:34 - 35 (NIV)
Nice, I really like everything he had to say. I really respect it, the way he's going about it is so awesome and I can see the need for it. At one point I was confused as to why they would tour with secular bands but now after seeing this video it totally makes sense. Keep up the great work Skillet and thank you NRT for posting this video with very valuable insight!👌👍✊🤘
I always thought this, but it was good to actually hear John say it. Evangelism is not a wrong way to spread the word of Christ. Sittining in million dollar temple on TV is not the way to speak the Evangelical word. Go from town to town. Spread the word. Those that will listen will hear the word.
SALT AND LIGHT BROTHER, SALT AND LIGHT. HOW WILL THEY LEARN OF THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE (CHRIST JESUS) UNLESS THEY HEAR IT FROM US? GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR MUSIC & MINISTRY!
Good video. I love Linkin Park and Skillet! I may not see them this year, but maybe in 2018 I might. Hehe. John is right about Christians need to be smarter when it comes Evangelism. We are getting trap in the same cliches, and it is not genuine. There are people in this world just wants friends who can be there for them, and they need love. We can do that my brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for uploading this, and have a great night. God be with you. 🌃
I know. I'm sorry you didn't get the chance to meet them. Ironically, I was listening to their music earlier. I hope you are having a great day. God bless you. 😌
AVJR but the difference is Chester was a child molester who committed suicide. To me I don't care how good someone else if there a chomo theyre scum that's it
I'm a lesbian. I grew up Christian. I read the bible front to back and became agnostic but Skillet is still my favorite band. Always will be. Since I was like 13-14. I'm 23 now.
I encourage you to give the Bible another try and maybe check out some books about the science of the Bible. Science does support it. Jesus is real, and He loves you no matter what. He wants to take your pain and your anguish and turn it to joy and peace. But He's a perfect gentleman--He won't take it if you don't willingly give it to Him.
I guess I really struggle with the notion of a true believer having close friend who aren’t Christians and spending a lot of time with them. Perhaps this isn’t what cooper intends (I love the guy), but Paul does warn us about being corrupted.
it’s not really how many’s times they hear the gospel. When you share the gospel 1 time with someone or many times it’s up to god after that. He will take their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. He offers them the free gift of salvation through Christ alone.
I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand it’s great that he obviously wants to get to know non-religious people as well. On the other hand, called them the “unsaved” and implying that their influence might be bad for his children? Idk. Sounds pretty extreme to me. And then I remember all of the things that evangelicals stand for, that they dislike LGBT people and all of that other crap. I really like skillets music, but I don’t really know what to think about this. He’s really trying to get to know the word and the people in it, I gotta give him that.
Daniel baudelio me too and I feel like God is knocking on his heart also with Korn with head and fieldy being on fire for the Lord and I pray and hope they see it
BNSF Fur4324 I agree and it's a trip skillet makes good music and get people who you least expect to change to go with jesus christ. It worked on me and I'm intimidating looking to people to begin with

Here's how I see it. We all believe something, and we all have values. What we believe characterizes our words, our decisions, our actions, and our art. Every time any of us open our mouth to speak, we are giving off a message. There is no such thing as just being neutral. Everyone will take music for what they personally see in it, and that's the beauty of music. But that doesn't mean the writer of the song didn't have an original meaning behind it when they wrote it. I don't think a song void of meaning would have any substance. Even cryptic lyrics still have meaning. Nirvana's seemingly abstract lyrics still meant something to Kurt Kobain. John's not telling everyone they need to view the song the same way, just what his meaning was when he wrote it. He's also not forcing other people to believe as he does, simply sharing with them something that is valuable to him. I think we should be open-minded enough to be able to hear what others believe. I absolutely agree with what John said. I am 81 years young and evangelism is always most effective with the parameters of relationship.
If this is the way Christians actually carried themselves, I'd give my life to God because this shit is beautiful. I'm inspired.

I like skillet, LOVE linkin Park. Wonder what song it was?
If he truly is a christian, how do you explain the sign he is making at 3:29?

Yep devil horns. He's calling on baphomet
Its a rock and roll sign
@@DorianTMChannel There are many famous people making that sign. Also the ones that are not in Rock & Roll, like Obama and the pope.

It basically means telling people how the life of Jesus is relevant to our culture today. That is what John and Skillet try to do.
