Tons of respect for John Cooper. Last year when several prominent people in christianity (pastors, musicians, etc.) renounced their faith publicly, John penned a great article that did not crucify them nor apologize for them, but was honest in evaluating what those people truly believed, the errors in their faith, and cautioned believers from following the same false beliefs and to the same end.

His album comatose saved my life. It was the only message of hope I had through an abusive childhood. (8-18). I had a church but they were a very new age and shallow church. But because he helped me hold onto hope I was able to meet my spouse at 18. At 21 I got married and we used skillet or piano covers of skillet for every bit of the wedding (processional, bridal march, etc) and "The Last Night" by skillet was our first dance. That song saved my life and so I built my new life on the same foundation of hope. At 23 we found the Orthodox Christian Church and I finally was home and I finally understood Christ.
I've seen Skillet 17 times since 2003. I always knew John L. was a strong Christian, but I never knew his thoughts on theology, culture and politics until he put out the Cooper Stuff podcast. Listening to that podcast and interviews like this have only made me appreciate him more. :-)-
As a 60 yr old woman I love their music.. seen him during winter fest and they are the main reason I wanted to go. Got his book for my grandson, love his podcast....
John Cooper and Skillet stand for the truth I love this group. John you inspire and encourage us all brother thank you for speaking up and putting yourself out there when opportunities arise.
How far they have come! I remember serving him and his family back in Fall of 1999 in Rome,Ga at a Rio Bravo. A group of great God fearing and living people. May God continue to bless the members of Skillet and their families.
Skillet is my favourite band of all time. I’m not religious at all but I understand the messages in their songs and try to remember them when I go through hard times. Thanks for everything Skillet
I've been a skillet fan for a very long time, I've seen them in concert a few times .my oldest son is a huge fan is as well? And it's so refreshing to see someone who could be living the usual rock star lifestyle? But he's not afraid to boldly stand up for jesus
John has always been unapologetic for Jesus. I respect him even more for taking a stand during this "woke" generation. We need more men of God like him.
Speak not into the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words. Proverbs 23:9. I used to have a Christian rock show for 20 years. I was one of the first shows to play their music and John and his group were always so thankful and appreciative. He is still the same humble and wise man he has always been. Keep it up brother!
This is exactly how church leaders should be today. A huge majority of them "sellout" and won't teach about certain "sins". It's our duty to speak the truth, regardless of if the sinner wants to hear it or not. It just needs to be spoken with compassion instead of condemnation. If the word is rejected, then at least you did right by God. It's between them and God now.
I've been a Skillet fan (Panhead) since March of 2000. Got my first album, "Invincible," the day my oldest daughter was born. I sat on the fold-out chair next to my beautiful wife, holding the most amazing 6lbs 13oz life changing gift from God... all while listening to my new Skillet CD. That was almost 21 years ago, and my 6lb 13oz baby girl is now in her junior year of college. I have 2 other daughters as well... They love Skillet almost as much as I do, Lol. I've been to 8 Skillet concerts, and they've been to 3. IMO, Skillet is the greatest band of all time!
Yes, many of you complain that John professes to be a Christian but Skillet is more of a Rock Band. Skillet is not a”Christian” band that would lead worship on Sunday mornings, BUT many of their songs are great Christian songs and the rest have messages that have positive messages that speak to non Christian listeners and you do not have to worry about what you are filling your mind with when you listen to their songs unlik many of the other rock bands. I have seen them perform at non Christian music festivals and John always brings up his faith. In the middle of his song “Sick of It”, he stops and asks if you are sick of addictions, bad relationships and tells you the only way you get rid of them is by turning to Jesus. His faith is consistent with his message. We do not have labels like “Christian Grocery Store Manager”, Christian Waiter/waitress” or Christian Hair Stylist” but these people earn a living all around us without compromising their faith. Not every Christian earns a living in a profession that directly spreads the gospel, but we all must do that job with Christian principles of attitude and behavior AND live a life that is consistent with our profession of faith while taking the opportunities we have every day to share Jesus with the world around us. John and his band do this as well. He shares his faith at concerts and to a much greater degree when those non Christian fans check out his podcasts and interviews. There some Christian artists I like and some whose style I don’t care for but I’m not going to put them down. If you don’t like his music, just admit it and listen to something else. BTW - many Christians that complain about Skillet have no problem listening to Classic Rock which has lots of lyrics we should really be worried about.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have conversations with John Cooper and in fact each member of the band Skillet. Fantastic people who are the same off the stage as they are on it. Never afraid to tell someone about Jesus.

Man, he said it all! That's how things are: they want you to deny Christ so you can do more good and enter into places where they do not accept to hear about Christ. Well, that's not a trade for us. Christ is the reason why we are alive.
