Thank you, this was wonderful and I’ll make a note of this hotel. The best hotels I have stayed in were in Scotland. I think Scotland is beyond stunning anyway. It’s just fantastic that they know how to treat guests with such class - also in smaller places. The breakfasts were always phenomenal, too.
Thanks for watching and we're glad you liked our little video Lauren. We also hope you subscribe because we've got a lot more of this sort of thing to show you. :)
It's such a beautiful hotel! The power went out during our stay for a long time and we'd STILL go back in a heartbeat. The staff was so well trained, and they handled it perfectly. I loved waking up overlooking all the highland cows!
Thanks for putting this hotel on my radar! That rustic luxury drew me right in with it's warmth. Loved the shot with your car at :18. Great storytelling, as always!

Another lovely video👍. We really enjoy them all but especially enjoyed this as we were married at The Torridon back in 2001 (their first “big” wedding, well, there were 14 of us😊) and we’ve been going back regularly ever since. Like many others now I suspect, it’s our special place❤. Glad you liked it too, but don’t tell anyone about it 😂. We’ll be back for Hogmanay again in a few weeks🥂, can’t wait! Thanks again! PS Noticed someone recently asked whether there’s a lift, perhaps someone else has already answered but if not, yes there is a lift. Just behind the reception desk as you go down the short corridor towards the second, smaller staircase.
Thank you Rich and Helen for this lovely review. Commentary was lovely - voice like rich chocolate! Hope you can sort the flickering lights otherwise excellent video. Look forward to seeing more. Greetings from North Wales.
Thank you for watching Colin. Yes, those LED lights are very troublesome for video recording as the flicker varies from room to room so you have to keep adjusting the shutter speed of the camera. Some get missed and it's very frustrating! :D
Many thanks for your good review video. We were there a few weeks ago for three nights and that amount of time is essential to explore the area. We agree with you about how good the hotel is and hope to stay again in the future. The casual restaurant also had fabulous food and service.
Such a lovely accommodation. Your videography and speaking voice are top notch (minus the one lighting glitch). We couldn't expect a person who mispronounces "Gaelic" to properly pronounce "Beinn Eighe" and "Slioch" but that only made it more charming. Very well done. Slàinte mhath! (pronounced "Slansha va").
Thank you Markus and thank you for being so kind towards my pronunciations. Lighting is always a challenge, especially with LED interior lighting - they all flicker at different rates so you have to keep adjusting the camera shutter speed to accommodate that. sometimes I forget though and it's VERY annoying!
We stayed here in July 2018. Our room was spectacular with a large bay window facing the lake. I cannot think of any hotel that comes close to the standard set here.
Thank you Angela. The weather was a bit changeable when we were there, but I can imagine in the summer it is even more lovelier than it was when we were there. Can't wait to go back. :)
They won't want to have me because I would wander and study all the wood, the cracks, etc, caressing the etching and structures. I'm always in love with historical buildings and I am taken back in time when I go places with history. Your voice is lovely.

Loved this video! We were booked to stay here in May of 2021 but had to cancel due to Covid. We adore the Scottish Highlands so we'll be back! Terri G.
I used to stay here in the 1980's when it was still in the hands of the Lovelace family. It was very rustic then but there was no problem walking in with your muddy boots. The rooms we usually had were pretty big and I remember one where the bath was in the tower. If I remember correctly, Ian (Mad Dog) Fraser (ex SAS) was the manager. He used to do things for the tourists like haggis shoots, where he would get a member of staff to go up on the roof and throw haggis off for him to pop at them with his twelve bore. I also remember a couple of fisherman getting caught out foul hooking salmon out of the Balgy when the water was really low. After Ian "spoke" with them they left the next morning without complaint. But generally he was very genial and a great host. One night he had to be away so he asked us to run the bar. Ah,... the good old days.
@@mojobear6472 The last time I came across your Dad was in 1995 when he was manager at The Shieldaig where I stayed for a few days with my brother. We had come north to scatter my first wife's ashes on Am Fasarinen. After a skinfull in the bar, Iain was amused as we struggled to help each other up stairs to bed, never quite sure if we were going to make it there.
@@donaldknox3608 haha! Most of Dad’s tales usually involved a dram or two! He must have been helping out at Sheildaig as he had taken over the lease at Loch Duich Hotel by then. We were there another 10 years or. I’ve not been back since 2001!
Hi Rich and Helen. Almost missed this before bed. The hotel is gorgeous. Waking through that bar was an experience I'm sure, and I could almost taste that gin as they poured it for you. It just beautiful. But leave me in the library and I would be happy, exploring books for hours on end. Too bad it was only one night. Booo. Hope all is well where you are tonight.

Thanks for watching David. You're right, it's so relaxing and perfect for a post hike G&T by a roaring fire (they still light them in the summer I think)! :D
My personal favourite would the Roman Camp Hotel in Callander, Perthshire. The start of the Highlands, so easy to get to from the central belt, close to Stirling, but very much another country. A little gem - and I've been going there when I'm in Scotland for more than 30 years.
Your narration is a sweet hoot! Really lovely area. Thanks for this treat! BTW, I assume a closer pronunciation of the Gaelic for “mountain” would be “ben,” as in Ben Lomond. Just a guess...
Thanks for watching Mary. :) Yes, I had considered just using 'Ben' but didn't know if it was too 'English' but shouldn't have worried because I've been pulled over for the pronunciation anyway for several people! Haha!

I suppose they’re going for the ‘contemporary’ look rather than the traditional Bernard. It’s all down to personal taste of course. The meal definitely retained the sense of occasion though. 🙂
We are lucky enough to call this beautiful hotel our local...we live 25 miles away...their scones are to die for ❤️
