Andy does great demos, one of the best things about his demos is that he actually tunes his guitar before making them, unlike a lot of other guys on UA-cam.
For me it had too much highs :( so I moded it to cut the highs off and it sounds really big. It should come with tone pot in first place. Generally I always find tone control very useful on fuzz pedals. Like ehx big muff for example ...
our dud Andy is just a total complete badass on guitar. He was even randomly smiling at some parts... You can see how much fun he was having and just loving doing what he was doing
I know this vid is old but still. Awesome pedal and awesome review as always, Andy. You sometimes look like a guitar demo machine in these videos but I think I detected a few smiles in this one.
I have this pedal...and the Dunlop silver grey blue FFM3 Hendrix Mini. This BOG version is definitely a different pedal...for one thing it's Way Louder and more Open sounding than the FFM3 I have..but overall its a Great Fuzz...big sound, warm, but agressive....superior to the FFM3 (which I still like). It's nice running the two pedals together also. I wrote Dunlop asking why the huge difference between the two and what the specs were...and they wouldn't tell me. The rep from Dunlop who I wrote to specifically said: "The FFM3 and FFM6 are two very different fuzz pedals, they will sound and operate differently. The circuit designs are different but unfortunately I can’t go into the details. The FFM3 is closer to a standard Fuzz Face but matched to Jimi’s personal modified Fuzz in the Jimi Hendrix museum. The FFM6 is the fuzz circuit from the Octavio and has much more gain".
WOW. I have a new appreciation for fuzz. Amazing demo, Andy! I think the key to these style of pedals is the amp has to be a little dirty to begin with, no? The "clean" tones used on this video were more Marshall-y or pushed smaller Fender in flavor, not quite so Fender Twin-y.
I owned one of the original 1970 red fuzzfaces, great pedal. Bought it two days after seeing Jimi play in June 1970, along with a Vox wah. Sold both a few decades later to collectors and bought all new pedals ;)
Sounds awesome Andy! Loved the comment: "made in the USA with a Message of Love... " I have several vintage & modern fuzzface's - it's definitely my 'desert island pedal' - so simple yet so full of tone.... The BOG FF is now on my Xmas list 😎🎸👍
always semi-regretted trading in my original sized hendrix fuzzface but now i can look forward to returning to a imo better hendrix tone. i also like how it fits nonchalantly onto my crowded pedalboard.
I dig the band of gypsys better myself, does much more than a typical fuzzface circuit. Way more volume to push the amp, it seems to have more of an upper mids nose than a fuzzface sound as well...I've tried all of em. Though I found the BOG ffm6 cleans up with kind of a muffled tone on the guitars volume, so I added a kinman type treble bleed on my Strat it it cleans up to a really nice overdrive with a better sweep on the guitars volume dial, better than any silicon fuzzface I've played. The treble bleed on the strat seems to make it clean up nicer with just the amp as well, retaining highs better ++!
I don't know cause I own only this one, but this thing is really awesome ! I play in B and this thing roaaaarrrr like nothing else, and it stays clear, that's unreal !
Sold! I'm on an overdrive kick lately and obviously love Jimi, but Andy could make a steaming turd sound great and then convince you to buy it. Cheers!
Andy - is that you playing as well as you're talking about the pedal, between 1:40 and about 2:30? I'm speaking of the gritty lower gain tones on a strat that are in the background. If so, what was your setup for that part of the clip? That's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!
+Finn V. Arthur Eh, I wouldn't say it's to a huge extent. He says the basics of his technique, and what players influenced it. Still very interesting though. If you want to improve your rock fingerpicking, look at Mark Knopfler's Dire Straits and solo work. Although, Andy's technique is in many places more like using a pick (sans pick ofc).
Hey Andy, in case you come back, curious how you are able to get any fuzz with the settings at the 4:00 mark? I’m playing a Vibrolux and with those settings and the amp at 4, it’s all clean no matter what.
Hello, are you using a humbucker in the bridge like I was? That will have a huge impact on low gain settings because you just need a bit more input signal to go over the pedal's threshold into fuzz territory. It's also possible I used a buffered pedal in front of the Gypsy Fuzz, like a tuner. Aside from that, there wasn't much else involved aside from the Deluxe Reverb at about 4. Best, Andy
Great Review as always!!! Really didn´t think you could crank that thing! That works only infront of an overdriven Amp or another Pedal. Don´t you think? I love mine! but not infront of a clean amp. Also it sounds very different to my Roger Mayer Axis, more mids anf fatter :-) Thanks Andy for doing what you do!
Will this pedal get lost in the mix if your playing in a band with 2 guitarrist ? because I`m having problem with my fuzz sillicon, I love fuzz but the only issue is getting lost.
Andy... it seems you play finger style mostly. I do as well, but I have a tough time with playing chords, while acoustic style finger playing is easy. How do you play your rock chords using your fingers without wearing down your finger nails or without it sounding muffled? It appears you're using your index and thumb close together. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
+ciclosonico I got the FFM1 (Blue one) and from what i've heard from those who have compared them, the FFM6 has way more output power than the other members of the FUZZ FACE MINI family. Hope this help...
It is kind of ironic that PGS demos are almost totally useless because Andy has an amazing ability to make everything sound awesome!
lol
So true I tried that pedal at store and never it sound like that
Andy is the benchmark. Strive on dudes
So funny. Get back in the basement and practice, thats what he did and still does. Nuthins free dudes
Right? It's not fair lol... He's such badass great guitarist... He's definitely one of those guy that has the tone in his finger.
For the love of God man, you just claw-hammered the best Hendrix I've heard since the man himself. Hats off, sir.
Randy Hansen
Never seen and hear Andy play this well. I mean, the Hendrix intro. Sensational. Congratulations man...
Andy for president! Pedals for everyone!
id vote for andy!
and i am russian
This lad can play the guitar.
I was going to say the same thing!
Of course he's an absolute mad lad
He's been known to strum a few chords here and there
I just bought this pedal and I gotta say it's a go to on my board for leads. Andy is great, but this thing speaks for itself.
Andy does great demos, one of the best things about his demos is that he actually tunes his guitar before making them, unlike a lot of other guys on UA-cam.
Yeah that shit always blows my mind. They would rather ruin the whole demo, than stop and tune the guitar.
Andy plays Jimi and Rev. Willy.
Marvellous.
Its like dinner and a show.....x
Supprised of how the highs really cut through without losing any other freqs,
Great demo as usual Andy!
+Mike Hudson I thought the same thing!
I have this and a fulltone ‘70. Between the two, this has a less muffled top end.
For me it had too much highs :( so I moded it to cut the highs off
and it sounds really big. It should come with tone pot in first place.
Generally I always find tone control very useful on fuzz pedals.
Like ehx big muff for example ...
Dejan Miletic Nah
@@haman-dex is the big muff worth it , someone local selling one cheap-ish and im tempted
I got one of these pedals after watching this review, More versatile pedal than even I thought it would be. Thanks!!
our dud Andy is just a total complete badass on guitar. He was even randomly smiling at some parts... You can see how much fun he was having and just loving doing what he was doing
Andy has the most amazing technique I have ever seen....
Damn Andy, that's like the best riff/tone I ever heard! You rock buddy! (pedal too)
By far the best demo of this pedal!!!! I have both JH Fuzz Faces and they both have great musical tones!!!🎸🎸🎸🤙🏾
that tone........good God!!! Thanks for yet another great review Andy!
I know this vid is old but still. Awesome pedal and awesome review as always, Andy. You sometimes look like a guitar demo machine in these videos but I think I detected a few smiles in this one.
that Hendrix jam was on point!! Wow!!
Been running a Korg Volca Bass through this pedal and it is filthy as f**k
Please another demo adding wah!
Wow! What a phenomenal introduction! Awesome chops to you sir
Thanks for demoing it turned all the way up.
It bugs me when people demo fuzz boxes and don't let us hear what it sounds like turned all the way up.
No pick but you own whatever tone you look for. Cheers !!
Damn you Andy, you're costing me a lot of money! There's another one I have to buy
Prison mike
Prison mike
i commented on another video a few days ago asking for this review. thanks andy! :D
+rush2795
You got it.
This fuzz face is incredible with the EHX Good Vibes Uni Vibe and Dunlop Echoplex delay
I love his guitar pick
Couldn't finish the video because you melted my face off in the first minute and a half, Andy.

This intro playing is superb!
This>Echoplex Delay>Harmonic Trem>Plate Verb>Marshall=Me Happy
I’m sold, just bought one. Damn Andy, getting me one step closer to becoming a pedal gear nut job !!
Got it, love it, never going to sell it! Thanks Andy.
Get it Andy! That sounded great!
Best fuzz face demo holy shit that was amazing
Thanks, that was one of my favorites too! -Andy
You can tell Andy digs that low E (Eb) in the riff with this tone.....I see him smiling.

Beautiful work Andy. As always.
Damn, that invisibile pick is sexy!

Just one phrase. I LOVE FUZZ!!! Thx!
I can watch Andy improvising the whole day.
i think this is my favourite version of the fuzz face mini, what do you think?
Agreed
I don't know cause I own only this one, but this thing is really awesome ! I play in B and this thing roaaaarrrr like nothing else, and it stays clear, that's unreal !
Have this Fuzz face it's awesome 👌
The latest Headrush update has a model of this pedal. Thanks for the guidance on how to use it.
Sounds great - would like to hear it with a Roto-Vibe.
this fuzz is badass i haven't use any other since i got it!!!!
Andy is the Billy Mays of the guitar world
WELP that sounds.... KILLER!!!! REALLY bluesy
Great tone and chops.
Andy's kicking ass on this one.
Driving while blind , nice touch!!!
Just subbed. Great demos!
I'm lost for words.
Kickass guitar playing!
This pedal sounds pretty darn close!!!
Wow I just got some serious GAS...
same
Sco I also farted!
Sold!
I'm on an overdrive kick lately and obviously love Jimi, but Andy could make a steaming turd sound great and then convince you to buy it. Cheers!
Henry Mena Steaming turd you say? ua-cam.com/video/hpWbKnlrRvs/v-deo.html
They don't pay you enough Andy. Thanks!
im in love with his finger playing!!!!! this guy makes a pick obsolete!!!!!
Hendrix and Andy are soul mates.
I have the Silicon Fuzz face - It ROCKS!
Dang, that intro is just soarin’

Somebody know the kind of silicon transistor inside this pedal?? Bc108, Bc183?? Some ideas?
Hey Andy, I want to see you playing on the bucket !
What a player!
Killer tones!
2:48 ZZ Top Arrested For Driving Whlie Blind
Great Video
you are such a good player
Sweet playing at the intro
fivethumbsfrank if you are wondering the song is "Spanish Castle Magic", you probably already know that but just in case...
I love your fingers technique !!! You have to do a video showing how to do it !!!
+HardRockCafé InHell Look up "The Scoop" on the PGS YT channel. He talks about his technique to a great extent.
+Finn V. Arthur Eh, I wouldn't say it's to a huge extent. He says the basics of his technique, and what players influenced it. Still very interesting though.

SOUNDS Great!
Andy, do you have a full video of "Driving while Blind"? Love that Top song!
Great Review as always!!!
Really didn´t think you could crank that thing! That works only infront of an overdriven Amp or another Pedal. Don´t you think?
I love mine! but not infront of a clean amp.
Also it sounds very different to my Roger Mayer Axis, more mids anf fatter :-)
Thanks Andy for doing what you do!
yeah!
You would have me bloody fooled that this is Hendrix with that Spanish Castle Magic intro.
Thanks so much, this one was definitely one of my favorite demo moments!👊👊
@@AndyDemos I've listened to many of your videos, you're an amazing guitarist. Keep it up brother!! Hendrix forever!
what's the difference between the FFM6 and FFM2? one is a germanium, correct? which apparently would sound warmer,, which one is it???
i basically watched for andys playing
Does this unit come with Andys fingers? I have a feeling its gonna sound different when I play it. 😁
Will this pedal get lost in the mix if your playing in a band with 2 guitarrist ? because I`m having problem with my fuzz sillicon, I love fuzz but the only issue is getting lost.
TheGamerx584 I know this is old, but try diming the fuzz and rolling off on your volume a hair. It opens right up.
Andy... it seems you play finger style mostly. I do as well, but I have a tough time with playing chords, while acoustic style finger playing is easy. How do you play your rock chords using your fingers without wearing down your finger nails or without it sounding muffled? It appears you're using your index and thumb close together. Anyone know the reason as to why there is no smile below the foot switch on the mini fuzz face's?
andys a great guitarist!
Fire 🔥 🔥 🔥
which one you think its better tone this one or the germanium transistors one ?
Dat G&L
How can I make this sound 'good' with a Gibson Les Paul (through '59 tribute humbuckers- a 2014 model)?
what's the first song name ? I want to cover this song using this pedal!
Spanish castle magic
@@caseylutz9236 thank you so much!!!!!
what was that other tune you played Andy? Not Jimi, not ZZ....around the 4 minute mark...
How about mid sixties Ventures tone?
What about unity gain and the output level, is it loud enough with the volume not maxed?
+ciclosonico I got the FFM1 (Blue one) and from what i've heard from those who have compared them, the FFM6 has way more output power than the other members of the FUZZ FACE MINI family. Hope this help...
+Simon Volt hey thank you Simon, that's nice. I'll try one as soon as possible. Grazie!
yes this one is really loud. I bought it a few months back and with humbuckers I only have the volume at around 12oclock
+Ryan Luke wow that's great, thanks for your help Ryan!
The first example sounds like Clapton's Cream era
Well it's Spanish castle magic by hendrix but sure, I'd argue the second clip is closer to Clapton
Is this the same as the chrome, just casing??
Also, is this a germanium or silicon transistor???
I'm mainly concerned as to whether or not this sounds identical to the Large Red fuzzface.
if you can't tell by the sound if it's germanium or silicon, why would you care?? p.s. it's silicon
Jesus, in the opening seconds I thought the actual song was playing.
Hey Andy !
Where is the signal chain used on this video ?
