Thanks for the review, I bought a Cold Steel Laredo a while back and I have no complaints with it whatsoever, edge wise it cuts better than just about any other Bowie I've ever had.
Exactly. Your reviews are A class, so it is important that you show why these knives are not to your liking because many are buying them because they think these knives are great. They need a negative review so that they do not go and spend thier hard earned money and buy these knives. It's a big help. Thank You For Your Time.
I'm late to the show but I just received my first SK-5 Natchez - and I'm absolutely impressed how beautiful it looks in person and how perfectly balanced it feels in hand ! They now have replaced the more budget friendly version of the Natchez - as we see here - with 4034SS steel. What a shame...
Thanks. I have the Atlanta Cutlery Primitive Bowie, but I won't be reviewing it because I don't recommend it really. The Timber Rattler I also have, and it is not bad for it's price, although the hollow grind and that steel are not too good for a heavy outdoors knife. not sure if I will review that one.
this is why i like this channel you're more social with you subs :) and thanks ive been looking at the Natchez for awhile but couldn't decide if it was worth the money for the sai mai version. keep up the great vids much love from australia :D
It definitely looks flat ground to me, but towards the point, where the swedge begins, it almost looks shallow hollow. I know with the SRK, the San Mai model is hollow and all other models of SRK are partial flat, so maybe this is the same way.
I have the Sai Mai & it is Awesome. Your reviews are great, Can you do a review on the Musso Primitive Bowie & the Timber Rattler Western Outlaw Bowie.
If you want a big outdoors Bowie, try the 1917 Frontier Bowie, its even bigger then the Natchez Bowie. I love mine. Oh, its 1085 high carbon steel, and holds a great edge.
Do you have some tips for removing the scratches on the blad.My sheath made many scratches on this beautiful knife, the scratches are not really deep is just on the surface. Sorry for my english im french.
I'd recommend using Super Premium Polishing Paste, (yes, that's the actual brand name) I've been using it on my Laredo Cold Steel Bowie since I bought it in October 2012 and it takes care of blade scratches better than anything else I've ever come across.
I have this blade but in o1 steel (the only option i have with the only seller in my country). I also take it as a collection. Its actually a good knife, just that the handle and not really full tang. Other than these, its a big chunk of a beast which chops well and good thrusting power
Wonderful Review. I want this knife so bad. But alas, a new karambit must come first. I have only a cheapo Combat Ready one, its great, but cheap and older... Does anyone have on opinion on shadow techs karambits? Im also looking at the cold steel steel tiger.
...In addition to the superior qualities of SK5 vs 440C, you also have to take into account the superior design aspects and functionality of this knife over your Rambo 3. The R3's #1 function is to look cool in a movie, or on your wall. The Natchez also looks cool, but is actually made to be used. Stronger steel, better blade geometry, more durable overall construction. This knife will out cut, slice, chop and out last the R3 any day. I do agree the R3 has a nice leather sheath though! :)
Israel I wanna get a Bowie or Clip point fixed blade ! This company has a few options Gil Hibben Assault Tactical Knife 7CR17 w/leather sheath, micarta handle n double quillion sub-hilt like the Coldsteel OSS, also has Boker Magnum Bowie, Safari Bowie (same shape as SOG models) n Magnum Giant all 440 stainless...All Bowie's betw 6 - 7ins long and SOG Seal pups 5ins...What should i look out for bro in a good outdoor survival knife? Steel, blade grind, edge retentions?...etc Please advise ! Thanks
Alright Israel what are your thoughts about this knife in San mai III? I'm wondering if the steel justifies the price and I'm about to buy one or the other. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Ok I got the natchez San mai version....finally found a good deal. Question....how the heck is the sheath meant to be worn??? Tucked in belt? Thx for you time
Bark river, falkniven Thor bowie, tm is good for survival and camping stuff, Natchez is good to sharpen it good and the clip and leave it lol. I'd like to mirror polish it first before I do the clip and get a black leather sheath...
Scottish Petrol Head I know this is an old post... Get a Western W49. Its the quintessential Bowie knife design IMHO. Great fit and finish. Carbon V blade steel. Leather sheath. Other than that I'd say the Ontario sp10 would be a great candidate. I have 3 Western W49 Bowies and 2 Ontario sp10's. If I had to leave and never come back. I'd take either one of those Bowies and never look back.
I found it pretty nice to handle white cutting, I did some cuts using my Junglas and my BK-9 on the same day, and the Natchez was the easiest to cut with.
beautiful blade.I need one..All i got for Bowies are crap from frost cutlery when i first got into knives..They look nice and are very sharp but made from 420 j2 i'm sure ..lol
Just looking for a nice bowie really I must be kinda annoying sorry but where I come from people don't like knives so your the only person I trust with knowledge of knives even what do you think of the down under outback
I've always thought that it was a super cool blade, but I just never wanted to spend the money for a cool blade that I probably wouldn't use... it is very cool though...
I got the sk5 version and I only use it to hold it in my hand and look at it and I pulled it out of the sheath the other day and suddenly I noticed that the handle was loose!!! No chopping , no cutting piggs in half! I keep it on my desk!! I can't find a way to tighten it up either. The nut that holds the handle on is groung smooth. Fucking junk! China, figures!! Gee my tops cuts loggs in half and it is still tight!
Well I get what you are saying about the tang is not made to be strong because it is not meant to be used for splitting wood or heavy duty work, but think about such a scenario, someone come up to you with a baseball bat and you have nothing else to block the attack except your trusty bowie knife (Not just in the case of this cold steel, like you said, it is not really designed for use but for show, let's imagine any bowie knife you carry with you at the time), I don't know if any knives with a wire tang can block attack from a baseball bat, I mean, if a bowie knife is designed for fighting or self defense at all, it should be built pretty damn strong because you can almost never be able to predict what happens in a life threatening situation. It's almost more important to have a strong tang in self defense situation than wilderness use... Do you know what I mean?
Just FYI, "stainless" steel (like the 440C your Rambo knife is made from) is generally inferior to any decent "carbon" steel in just about every way but one. Assuming propper heat treat... SK5 has superior strength, durability, and edge retention, among other finer attributes, when compared to 440. The ONLY thing stainless does better is... you guessed it... resist stains and rust. Which shouldn't even be a concern unless you live right next to the ocean, and even then it's not a big deal.
200.00 bucks for the sk5 and it rust lol what a joke. think cold steel charges way too much for there q control.they are nice looking ,high q. bufffing. but 2 times the price. i have the rambo 3 sig- gill hibbin ss bigger full leather sheath. 105.00 owned over year not spec of rust ????????
Thanks for the review, I bought a Cold Steel Laredo a while back and I have no complaints with it whatsoever, edge wise it cuts better than just about any other Bowie I've ever had.
Yes a little

Thanks! I always try to answer questions and I only forget a few sometimes :]
Exceptional knife indeed! One of my absolute favorite fixed blades!
wow out of all the blades iv seen in my life this is one of the sickest blades iv ever seen!!!
i don't understand that kydex, modern sheath on that gorgeous, old fashioned knife. it just kills me.
i am a leather guy ;)
I couldn't disagree more. For a fighting knife I'd rather have a good modern sheath than some old school garbage.
I agree, needs a nice leather sheath. But then again I make leather knife sheath's.
I agree. But You can cover the kydex with leather and you will hace The Best of both worlds..
Thanks! You too!
Should check out the Ka-Bar Becker line or ESEE knives, or the Cold Steel Trailmaster.
Thanks, homie
this is why i like this channel you're more social with you subs :) and thanks ive been looking at the Natchez for awhile but couldn't decide if it was worth the money for the sai mai version. keep up the great vids much love from australia :D

Cool, I've wondered about the Loredo, too
Try polishing them off with Flitz or Metal Glo polish.
I love this knife but i wish it was full-tang instead of that half-tang wire-tang thing! The wire-tang was a real deal breaker for me.
I just pulled the trigger on the 3V one today.
The Steel Tiger is definitely some deadly stuff.
If you want a big outdoors Bowie, try the 1917 Frontier Bowie, its even bigger then the Natchez Bowie. I love mine. Oh, its 1085 high carbon steel, and holds a great edge.
Glad you dig it!
No, SK-5 is a carbon steel, some have compared it to a budget version of 1095 high carbon.
They sell them on Amazon, hope that helps.
Planning on getting the Laredo to go with?
To me they are like a pair, can't have without the other.
Awsome stuff
Hi, i got this knife because of your review thanks. After i got it a found it has a cable tang what do you think of that?
Have you done movie replica knives like the one from expendables ? That knife was really sweet in looks
great vid man , quite an amazing beast you got in there
Do you have some tips for removing the scratches on the blad.My sheath made many scratches on this beautiful knife, the scratches are not really deep is just on the surface.
Sorry for my english im french.
Close lol. This one is made in Taiwan. The San Mai version is made in Japan.
yeah i want a beast of a knife that is still good looking but my main problem with the trailmaster is that some forums say kraton wear out
My Cold Steel Laredo works great for chopping small branches, although I'd never use it for batoning.
I would like to, not soon, but one day.
The CRKTs will probably give you more for the money, those CS San Mai tantos get pretty up their in price, they make the Shinbu price look low lol.
I'd recommend using Super Premium Polishing Paste, (yes, that's the actual brand name) I've been using it on my Laredo Cold Steel Bowie since I bought it in October 2012 and it takes care of blade scratches better than anything else I've ever come across.
And after that, Billy was like "you should see how bad the other guy looks!" LOL
The Trailmaster and Gurhka Kukri are good, too! But ... I guess that does not help the decision :]
do a review of the yojimbo 2
flitz will only work somewhat. to polish them off really well you need to use wheels and a bench grinder
That thing is a beast brother!!!!
I have this blade but in o1 steel (the only option i have with the only seller in my country).
I also take it as a collection. Its actually a good knife, just that the handle and not really full tang. Other than these, its a big chunk of a beast which chops well and good thrusting power

This might not relate to the video, but where can i get the ontario pilot knife? Please give me the link. Good video btw
Will San mai version fit in that secure ex sheath ?? cheers !

Hey Israel wat do u think about the partial tang on this knife would it b strong enough for batoning choping etc?
Would u recommend this knife or the more expensive one?
The steel is stainless correct?
I have the san mai Natchez and it is NOT hollow. Flat grind for sure.
Hi what would you prefer the sai maii version or this one?
Is it FFG or Hollow Ground?
My sm3 model is Hollowground.
Badass levels are at maximum efficiency
does it have a different tang?
WAJK how much do you bench? :)
so beautiful!!
Alright Israel what are your thoughts about this knife in San mai III? I'm wondering if the steel justifies the price and I'm about to buy one or the other. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
The most I ever benched was around 315.
Ok I got the natchez San mai version....finally found a good deal. Question....how the heck is the sheath meant to be worn??? Tucked in belt? Thx for you time
The one with the stainless thing poking out? It goes in your waistband or belt.
Israel. That is a pure fighting knife. You should check out the SMIII Version. It is well worth it.
That would make a Mel Gibson movie!
is it as strong as the trailmaster
What are your thoughts on the use of a cable tang on the Natchez Bowie?
It makes it more topheavy, so it makes it chop harder.
I am sure the more expensive version is pretty nice, but I wasn't willing to cough up the extra $ lol
I think it is fine, for everything except batoning.
Whith is better at cutting bottles and jugs, this or the trailmaster?
This is.
basically just looking for a nice bowie any recomendations apart from the boker
Bark river, falkniven Thor bowie, tm is good for survival and camping stuff, Natchez is good to sharpen it good and the clip and leave it lol. I'd like to mirror polish it first before I do the clip and get a black leather sheath...
Scottish Petrol Head

Check out the Prather War Bowie from TOPS...about as good as it gets, for the price.
What type of tang does it have?
Cable tang.
Awesome Thank you!
with the ammount of blades you have you could start your own shop... what do you do outside of youtube and blades?
Usa made?
I found it pretty nice to handle white cutting, I did some cuts using my Junglas and my BK-9 on the same day, and the Natchez was the easiest to cut with.
A Bowie knife that separates the men from the boys.
beautiful blade.I need one..All i got for Bowies are crap from frost cutlery when i first got into knives..They look nice and are very sharp but made from 420 j2 i'm sure ..lol
Not sure
do you think the new o1 steel is better than sk5?
thomas rohde I think so
I think he should send me one to review :]
I would rather use the Cold Steel Trailmaster for that task.
is this knife strong or a wall hanger .I ask this because of the cable tang
It's strong enough for a fighting blade.
+WeAllJuggleKnives yeah I thought so I have been debating on getting this or the trailmaster but have heard that krayton handles don't last
Check out the Boker El Gigante, same blade shape, but better handle.
I looked at that but I like the brand cold steel but do you think the trailmaster handle is any good
Just looking for a nice bowie really I must be kinda annoying sorry but where I come from people don't like knives so your the only person I trust with knowledge of knives even what do you think of the down under outback
The San Mai, but I didn't want to spend that much :]
Love this knife :)
I've always thought that it was a super cool blade, but I just never wanted to spend the money for a cool blade that I probably wouldn't use... it is very cool though...
This knife kind of reminds me of Deadwood :)
Thumbs way up, Israel!!!!
They should have used this knife in the expendables instead of that other one.
No the sk-5 is around 250 the other one is around 4-500. This is the cheaper one.
I'm not sure, sorry.
Ooooh! Devastating to water bottles!
great
Why didn't you buy the VG1 cheapskate. I bought one for my birthday.
holy mother...:-)
I got the sk5 version and I only use it to hold it in my hand and look at it and I pulled it out of the sheath the other day and suddenly I noticed that the handle was loose!!! No chopping , no cutting piggs in half! I keep it on my desk!! I can't find a way to tighten it up either. The nut that holds the handle on is groung smooth. Fucking junk! China, figures!! It is not sharpened.
Why do they make such big knives with wire tangs? That is just stupid...
I'm a hobo!
Faux = False
faux is the French word for False.
Still wonderful though. I just cant imagan spending 500 on a knife. A sword yeah maybe but not a knife
Just FYI, "stainless" steel (like the 440C your Rambo knife is made from) is generally inferior to any decent "carbon" steel in just about every way but one.

Faux Cocobolo? Faucobolo? Ugh, a mumble-mouth like me shouldn't try to pronounce that in polite company.
