  • This tutorial video explains what Expo is and how to implement it on your RadioMaster TX16S
    I purchased my TX16S from the Flying Robot Co in Cape Town. This is not an affiliate link but I want to share where you can get yourself a RadioMaster TX16S in South Africa.

    Thanks for watching.
    Happy Flying.

    If you want to use multiple expo and dual rate settings for a airplaine, it is advisable to use flight modes. Much easier.

      Videos for fixed wing flight modes and GV’s coming soon. That’s what is great about OpenTX many ways to do the same task.

    Thanks Bill
    I will have a go with that.
    Question......
    When experimenting with Companion, can those settings be tranferred to the T16s or is the simulator only there for experimenting?
    How do you set up dual rates?
    I want to programme three rates using a three way switch.
    Thank you again for an excellent vid.
    Peter

      Hi Peter, you can transfer the models set up in OpenTX Companion to your radio. First back up your radio and models settings. Then add your new model and then restore the settings and models to your radio. You can even setup your new model and then open up your current backup and copy the model to the back and restore to your radio. Use Read models and settings from radio and then restore using Write models and settings to radio. Here is the link to my dual rates setup video.

      Hi Bill and thanks for your reply.
      I enjoy learning from your videos but I am at a bit of a loss with optimal folder locations.
      I notice that you had folders for SD Card, New firmware releases, Radimaster T16s and so on.
      I did not have those folders so I opened some new ones up.
      I don't think they are in the right place as my flash of the new firmware did not work.
      It said " Flash complete" but it didnt do it.
      Could you please do a short video assuming we are totally stupid on setting up these folders and in the right place?
      Cheers
      Peter

      With regard your SDCard you should only use the default folders already included in the file you downloaded. If you need further help please contact me again.

    Thank you. I’m building a zohd as my first fixed wing build So many say to “add expo” but I had no idea what is was. Much appreciated
    (a-hem... any videos on how to set up an r9mm receiver with a jumper t18?. I’m kinda lost with different firmwares)

      Piers, I do not have a 5 in 1 module but as far as I understand your R9 receiver must be flashed with latest ACCST firmware I do not think it works with the newer ACCESS FrSky protocol.

      @@the-happy-RC-flyer thank you for the reply. I’ll give it another go. Tried many times, no help from fr-sky and very few videos. I remember the times we could buy something and it actually work!
      Thank you for the hard work you put in to explaining something in an easy-to-understand manner

      @@pierstaylor7780 as I do not have a 5 in 1 module please check if the R9 protocol has the RF fine tune option. If it does put a figure in of 20 and try and bind if this does not work try -20. The link below will explain why you need to do this with FrSky receivers but not sure if necessary for R9’s.

    I am curious as to why you choose the inputs as I do it in the mixer page. Is there any particular reason for inputs page?

    • @the-happy-RC-flyer
      @the-happy-RC-flyer  3 роки тому +2

      If you set up the expo in the INPUTS it will have effect on any of the mixes you set up in the MIXES page. In other words expo will always be active. If you set up rudder aileron mixing you would still have expo without doing anything in the mixes. There are many ways to set up your radio with OpenTX that will give you the same results so carry on doing it the way you are happy with.

    could I setup my expo on a switch in Mixes instead of in Inputs?

    • @the-happy-RC-flyer
      @the-happy-RC-flyer  3 роки тому

      Tim you normally set up expo and dual rates in the inputs so it is constant in any mixes you set up. You could still use a switch in the Inputs for expo if you wanted to. I would recommend having the expo active at all times or the feel of your controls will change if you switch it on and off.

    • @timwalt9190
      @timwalt9190 3 роки тому

      @@the-happy-RC-flyer well i was thinking since im using kopilot lite, that i set a three way switch in Mixes for Expo, so i can use expo only in manual mode but turn it off in stabilize and rth modes as the kopilot takes over. The expo would be Off in its first position, and second position would be 20% and third position 25%. So i would only be using expo when in manual mode.

    • @the-happy-RC-flyer
      @the-happy-RC-flyer  3 роки тому +1

      @@timwalt9190 you can do that if you wish. I think I am correct that your Kopilot will not use the expos anyway because the flight controller is taking over control. With OpenTX there is always more than 2 way to getting to the same end result. So set it up, check if it works the way you want and go fly it!
