      The Lakers most likely know about the details of their players' injuries, they just decide to not share many details. For example LeBron's injured right foot tendon. There are over 100 of those in the human foot, saying he injured a tendon as the real diagnosis would be pretty unprofessional.

      It happens to me on occasion for no reason, but I never sprain it until last year when that happened on an overleveled driveway to the street and fell face first. It's nothing bad but a swollen lip and weakened front teeth. I was using a cane for mental support and found out the day after that I did something to my left ankle. Every time it happens, I'm always weary to walk after because it's a whole reaction to the foot going sideways on you. My left foot did go and turn to jelly, where I banged my knees on the gym court over 10 years ago, I think. Nothing bad as I still went to where it happened, and they healed almost a day after during the next day.

I ended up with a fracture on the top of my foot and I couldn't fit my foot into my shoe for awhile because my ankle was around twice its normal size. I think it was a month or so before it healed up fully but I also didn't do a ton of physical therapy or anything.

    Hey Doc, how much are low top shoes responsible for all these lower body injuries to players? Back in like the 2000s and before most lower body injuries happened primarily to 7 footers and above or to guys who landed on someone's foot. Now it seems ankles are rolling or Achilles tesring way more frequently with the change to low tops and it seems like the injuries don't need any contact to happen. As a hooper myself I've noticed that high top Jordans and LeBrons have saved me from an injury like this especially when I was younger and always slashing to the rim. The shoe would basically catch my ankle and keep me upright.

    I had the same thing happen to me in high school. My Dr. told me it would of healed faster if I just broke it. It took 6-8 weeks before I was able to run on it fully. Hopefully his isn't that serious

      I had the same injury as you in HS as well during a game and it swelled up like a grapefruit. It me me about a month, but it sounds like your sprain was worse than mine. It can be so tricky with sprained ankles and hammys...everyone is different in the way the respond to treatment.

      @@Peanutdenver Mine swelled up like that as well. I actually still have a bump on the top of my foot from it, I had a really severe sprain. I definitely agree with you though, everyone is different and depends on how severe it was. Mine was probably healed in about a month as well but I couldn't fully run for closer to 2 months.

    This explanation is exactly why I'm wondering why everyone keeps saying that he slipped? His heel actually planted and then his ankle gave way, almost as if the muscles were too weak to keep it stable. There was actually no appearance of moisture or his heel sliding at any moment during the video.

      KD will be fine. Everyone needs to quit stressing out as KD will be ready by Saturday to face the Kings. No way he misses that playoff atmosphere game as Suns are just 2.5 games back of 3rd seed. Nothing will stop KD not even an Achilles injury. He’s on a mission to win a title and no ankle injury will prevent him from reaching that goal.

  • @paul_zoklits
    @paul_zoklits Рік тому

    if you watch it in slow-motion you can actually see that he is already in an inversion position right before making ground contact; I would not call that slipping, and this should definitely be addressed in physiotherapy from a motor control perspective
    also interesting to keep in mind is the whole discussion around ankle taping and its usefulness, you could argue that ankle taping gives you a wrong sense of protection (in the end I would say it is more important how you move and land, rather than if you're taped or not)

    My impression of a lot of injuries of lower extremities is that the shoes play a more significant role than it is conveyed in the media. Does anybody agree? It looks to me that in KDs case, his shoe wasn’t aligning with the natural axis of his foot. Therefore he stepped on the soles edge and initiated the torque that led to the sprain.
