I experienced a stroke about two months ago. I went to the VA. Most of my therapists are very professional and concerned but they are very restricted with resources. I had to turn to outside sources . My wife introduced me to your channel and I have gained a wealth of knowledge through it! We have mimicked a great many of your therapy exercises and I have come a long way!! Your balance advice has been phenomenal!! You are a great therapist. Thank you.
I have sent you a VERY small gift of $50. I will send more when I am able.
Thank you for publishing! I love your work!!

Hi, my name is Mile and I live in Vienna Austria . In 2018 I had massive stroke. Now in the wheelchair, ataxia on the left side. I have physical therapy constantly since stroke and I am quite familiar with your exercises. I have to say that very often watching your videos gives me additional strength to continue and try something new. Thanks.

My neuromuscular recovery therapist had me do the tandem exercises in the tall kneeling position after I showed her your tall kneeling exercise. Talk about tough and then she made me hold a 2lb dumbbell while we did the arm movements.
Just wanted to let you know even other PT’s are watching your videos. So grateful for you!

So i overdid it for few days and now i can't even stretch MY LEG because only one hurts meaning i used mostly that leg! The other one is not paralyzed, looks normal, but i have problems with sensations, and obviosly i don't use that leg that much. How to achieve symmetry when you don't quite feel one side?

#ataxia. I've had cerebellar ataxia for over 20 years and use these exercises often plus a little gym work. I taught myself to walk again by walking on grass as it feels safer. It took about 5 years to figure it out but studied my own body as I got very little or no help from doctors. The problem I can't get to solving is the wobble when walking I presume it's down to the core .

Hi my mother has the exact same issue but doctors couldn’t find that is ataxia or not but she has wobble and extreme dizziness.what exercises do you use that improve your situation?

    • @anthonyperkins3604

      @@GGhazalGh hi Ghazal
I've been studying my cerebellar ataxia for 20 years like your mother doctors couldn't tell me much only to say your going to be in a wheelchair for the rest of your life, I proved them wrong. I basically listened to my own body I started going to the gym in 2014 and slowly built my strength and muscles I haven't used in years . I started using a walker for years then tried using a walking stick on grass areas and just practice walking pushing myself, it is frustrating for a while but the stronger you get it also helped with my balance. I still have the wobble and trying to find a solution to fix it. I also suffer sometimes with dizziness and not sure what causes it. I basically became my own doctor physiotherapist. Core strength will help the wobbly walking I'm still looking for answers.

#ataxia. I have been a NYC paramedic for 40 years. I have not been approved for a CT Scan yet. Open areas and quick body/head turns scare me as I have fallen before. I can not get up from the floor if I do. I don't seem to have leg strength. I need to pull myself up stairs and I need a step stool to get into high vehicles. Another thing I have noticed is I can't purposefully sneeze or cough, only as a reflex. I also physically can not speak well.. Now because I can't perform my job duties I am unemployed waiting for disability. Your channel has been more helpful than my neurologist. Thank you.

I am a wheelchair senior almost 70 years old, I went from a cane, to a Walker, to a scooter and now I ride a portable wheel chair. I have had ataxia for the last 15 years. At that time, support groups made me really depressed I was told to go there by some professional doctor in the field, but they were telling there story and showing videos which I already knew about the symptoms and how it affects the body. I wanted to know about a cure for my ataxia, I was told they were doing over in Japan experimental treatments, but at that time. You had to be 30 years old or under which I didn't fit the criteria and that was very depressing. I was watching your video on excersising when your balance does not function properly, this is the first time I have made a comment about my condition. I am the type of person who is very impatient and want things now but it's hard to get motivated to do at this stage of life, your exercises. I am so confused

I have only recently discovered your videos! It hemisphere CVA 14 years ago and have begun following your balance exercises, today. I lost my Right Temporal and Right Parietal lobes. My inner thigh muscles of my left leg are much stronger than the muscles on the outside of my thigh. So, I stand frequently with my feet together and am trying to learn to stand with my feet shoulder width apart. And here I am trying to stand in a corner with my feet together and not fall over.😋

Want to practice walking skills outside? Practice, practice, practice inside first, create a trail through the house. I did 25,000 steps. Watch how to fall videos, learn how to get up on your own, carry a phone, get a helmet and fall gear. Falls may happen if prepared feels like falling on a mattress. Get a metronome to increase speed and gait distance. Sneaky ataxia. Received a high dose over a long period of time of vit. B6 in my multivitamins. Will take me 2 to 6 months to clear it. Check the net and your bottle.

Looks easy while watching, but difficult to do. Can stand with feet together (10 minutes), half tandem ( 10 minutes) and tandem ( 2 minutes) with hands by my side. Can do tandem for long time leaning to the wall. However, with hands extended and clasped, can not stand as I loose balance. Did not understand.
Yet to try head movement. I have walker or chair next to me for safety.

How does this work for people with autism who want to walk, but can't because they are titrating off of medication that impedes their ability to walk? Are you not familiar with this? There are many people with autism and epilepsy, for example, that experience drug induced ataxia caused by changes in medications. Yet, the person with autism doesn't comprehend this and when they want to walk in this unsteady gait phase you're dealing with a person who is non verbal and frustrated now who wants to walk, but can't walk but there's little support to keep them safe during this time. Clearly this is an issue nobody really understands as if you chemically restrain them during these times you risk further ataxia from things like Versed and other benzos to control their agitation which creates a vicious cycle of unsafe gait and need for elevated staffing to keep them safe. What do you suggest therefore in patients like this?
