Since past 70 years, 3 generations of my family have been doing the things that you mention in this video. Unfortunately people find it nearly impossible to keep things simple & live within their means. My father a self-made man of immense accomplishments, internationally reputed engineer & having highest ethical standards gave me the following advice when I started my career:
    1. Don't do anything that will cause you loss of sleep when you are 65 years old because you cannot buy it.
    2. People will respect you for what you are, and not for that you have.
    3. Sustainability is the cause of happiness.
    4. Simple things in life are always enjoyed the most.
    5. Greed causes endless dissatisfaction & unhappiness
    6. Live upto your own expectations & not those of others

Even after educating you, you have taken your parents money for wedding? You should be capable of managing your own expenses if you aren't doing court marrige. Considering you are educated so could have worked and saved for marrige. I am not blaming you, don't know your situation but this could be improved so parents can have money post retirement to complete their ambitions (like travelling etc.)

You are extremely right guru ji,,, I am from West Bengal, lower middle class family background, we are two sisters & my father invested lots of money on our higher education & wedding, but my brother in law lost his part of inheritance & house after 10 years of marriage, fortunately he had a job with less salary, my marriage also flopped in the same year & my father's business got crashed because of covid, my mother also in tuberculosis that year,,, I am still struggling to get a stable job,,, my father wanted me to marry for the 2nd time but I stopped him, because we had lost lots of resources now is the time to be stable again,,, but my parents are ageing very fast,,, now I have to face their foolish deeds...

Thank you for educating Indian middle class with your wisdom and learning. Me and my wife also believe in similar thought process. We have told same to our children and we are following all the 4 points that u have mentioned in your video. Also we have told them clearly that we will fund their education till graduation in India. But if they want to go for higher education abroad, then they have to take education loan and go on their own. This will give them sense of responsibility and putting load on them will make them more serious about their own life rather than spoon feeding them.

All expenses paid by me( I am an English lecturer)and my husband ( Army Officer). My husband had no single demand. With God's grace we have already purchased our own house, have one son ( may God always bless him), travel to near by places of that of our postings and lead a simple life as much as possible. 🙏

No "sosha giri of any kind"; we saved the money and brought things to start our life. Thanks for such eye opening videos; these kinds of videos are the necessity for today's youth. Even in south India it's the same case. Since it's a love marriage the parents kept it simple or else the same caste marriage should satisfy the relatives greed. Dowry is too high in south India!!! Lower middle class should give 20 tolas, middle middle class 40 tolas and upper middle class should give 80 tolas😢

I try explaining my relatives to be careful on their spends, but they hardly listen. My brother is a spendthrift who spends 90 percent of his earnings on clothes, shoes, watches, mobiles etc.
My father in law has lot of loans yet he invites 500 people on my sister in laws wedding. He recently passed away leaving no tangible assets and his family at the mercy of his brothers. He sold all his properties and was of the view that we should live our life well and not think about future generations.

Sir, in my family relation, there is one known relative, they live in Chhatarpur area of Delhi.
They are highly rich and cultured people,
They had spent 2.5 crores in their daughter’s grand wedding. Every thing was so smooth. People took it as an ideal wedding.
Parents of the bride thought it to be the best gift for their daughter.
But nobody knew that this great grand wedding would not be able to last even for 10 months !!
    क्या करेंगे इतने करोड़ रुपया देकर जब आपकी beti ही ख़ुश नहीं हैं??😢
Now their daughter is crying day and night to get a divorce, but she isn’t able to .
She is suffering day and night .
I don’t understand why people anticipate that spending more and more money will guarantee a happy and successful and satisfied life ,
Rather than focusing on a happy and satisfied life for their children.

They very warm welcome of guest with tambool by new couple.
All marrige arrangements were at home .
Food was tasty and timing was 1 pm to 8 pm ( note that sunset time is 5 pm here )
    No show off
People were very well dressed and disciplined
Being north indian (marathi by roots ) it was good to see
Also all rituals were being followed
Earlier Marathi people ,specially those who migrated from Maharashtra during princely states ( MP UP Telangana Gujarat) used to celebrate Marriage ceremony in simpler way
Now being attracted towards bollywood style ;fomo affected celebrations

Great Video ! I am fully in agreement with all the 4 things you have explained.. Though I am financially very well off, .I spent very little for my marriage... I regret that it failed but I never had to regret the financial aspect of it cuz I never spent much money on it... In fact, for the education I have been trying to convince my kid stuying in 12th Std. to either go for Govt. college (if meritorious) or simply do a BSc ... (instead of wasting money in Pvt. Colleges)... I really hope my other family members come into agreement on my thoughts as otherwise I will have to WASTE money which I never wish to.... I have been following the principles mentioned in your video throughout my life.. I want to tell you that I only purchase what i require.. For example, I never purchased even a 2 wheeler since I never felt the need for a personal vehicle at the place where I live.. I find public and private 'rental' transport much cheaper and convenient.... I have only a simple feature phone (cuz I don't require a smartphone) ..However I have given my kid a smartphone (cuz my kid requires it ) ... Can go on and on ... I loved your video .. I really hope all the middle class people see this video and imbibe your thinking in their daily lives ....Bahut dino ke baad koi mile jo mere jaise sochthey hain ...Thank you very much ...

I agree with all the points you mentioned! I am surprised to see people ( with middle class earnings) spend so much on branded clothing, shoes and electronics , cars, jewelry, luxury vacations etc. They take loans so easily and practically are living pay check to pay check. And the college expenses part is so true. College is a big business all over the world, and we should invest wisely after thorough research. Give your kids a good educational foundation, and teach them the value of hard work and money, that’s most important in my opinion.

That's a different category.. travelling is an experience if one does it as a part of his/her passion for it.. though i am not for staying in ultra fancy hotels or stupid activities..

Great point. Why travel abroad when India has so much to offer? This will create jobs and reduce poverty.

Then do one thing....save everything in your bank and die at 60 without even enjoying your life. Ridiculous thinking. People earn to spend not to save.

I graduated from a collage where my fee was 45k per year (45x3 years)in 2020,
In Dec 2022 I have 10+ LPA package, so I completely agree that fancy collages don't mean anything. Just get your degree skill up and start working.

Feeling really great that I convinced my father to get me into some nearby college instead of fancy ones (VIT, Amity). I worked on my skills and got a decent job right after college. Bought a samsung phone instead of apple. I'm now confused between working abroad or starting something of my own in India.

I think you should work abroad before starting your own business with strict mindset of. I will use my experience to build my business, it will be awesome if you are same industry which u want to build business, work abroad because there work culture is awesome, Ha also don't waste much money EVEN for working in abroad calculation might disturb if things don't go according to your plans.

@@yuvi1823 Yes Sir, thanks for the info. I'm planning the same now. Actually, my boss also followed the same strategy, started a business out of niche technology he was working in. I'm hoping to do same, but I also have interest in opening a physical shops (more like a dream). Maybe cause I've seen some of my friends opening up cafés, etc.

Amazing video, 100% aligned with what all you said. You are highly intellectual, rational, holistic, analytical plus an enlightened one. And as you have this talent, you must be fully aware only 10% people on this planet share this type of thought process but still you are trying your best to propagate, so appreciate. Wish you best!
