No it’s actually not funny. It’s the devil in the detail. It’s the willingness to normalise violence under the guise of comedy and plant little seeds of destruction with no social responsibility. It’s taking the joke too far into dark terrain having lulled people into a state of false security and trust because you entertained them and made them laugh and the audience formed an emotional attachment to the characters and ultimately its selling out and it’s witchcraft. I know I sound like the super intense psychoanalytic guy from that episode where he ripped the social dynamics of their friendship group apart but people didn’t take this as just entertainment and left it at that. I loved this show but people have conducted their lives imitating the way these characters lived and mistook it for truth and reality when it was about engineering men and women to live a certain way. It had many nice moments don’t get me wrong but it’s mixing truth with lies and people have died because of this. I wish it wasn’t that serious but it is. There are certain things that shouldn’t be said and it’s not appropriate to joke about stabbing someone. One should refuse point blank to say these things. I get that Phoebe was a quirky eccentric character but like it’s crossing a line and it’s evil as subtle as it might seem. And frankly everyone around me is like a cyclops and they serve the devil so I see the effects. People idolised these tv shows and lifestyles represented therein. And I loved it as just entertainment but most people are spiritually dead and on the broad path that the Bible speaks about. Canned laughter or no canned laughter to make it alright it’s not funny to normalise and desensitise people to the notion of stabbing someone and treat it as a joke. That’s weird and evil and it’s teaching people to be hard hearted and cold and not to take these things with due gravity. It’s not ‘He or she unfriended me first on IG’. It’s stabbing someone and trying to make that alright because the rest of the episode made you laugh and forget your troubles and entertained you for 30 mins. I just don’t think it’s appropriate. The thief the devil is just all over that piece of dialogue dying to get into your home, into your head and destroy and end your life. All over it.
Well, they were all good, but from season 5 onward the scripts kinda played to David's strengths in physical comedy, his expressions are hilarious and on point

@Alan James Nah, that's not how we do things in my household. In our fridge we have a common section. Anything we put there is something that either me or my GF can take freely. She gets the door. Everything she puts in the door is for her and her alone. I get the bottom shelf. Anything that is put there belongs to me and only me. And it's the same with the cupboards. We have a common shelf and then a private shelf that belongs to her or to me. And that system works. At least for us, it does.
Chandler is my most favourite character on the show , but David was the best -best-best actor on the show. I mean, his range of expressions , his approach to scenes , his voice modulation and his swift switch of moods was truly exceptional. He was an institution in his own right . Post Divorce Ross is the funniest character of the show. They reinvented him and made him hilarious. David Schwimmer deserved to win some awards, he was easily the best actor of the show
Post Carol and Emily prior he’s more passive , and reserved less sarcastic. Afterwards he kind of grows up and really comes out of his shell at least imo I agree too his storylines become more interesting and he became one of the funniest cast members.

Where I work we have a common lunch room and someone kept stealing my yogurts again and again (which I always left labeled). Two of those times I even left a note asking to not take it, but it still went missing. I had enough and one day I put a good amount of laxative in one and left it there as usual, and my yogurts never disappeared again. In my opinion, that kind of behaviour is rude and plain disrespectful.

I totally understand why Ross got furious about his superior eating his sandwhich. Not only he took what isn't his, he gaslight Ross for "overreacting" to a "simple mistake that can happened to anyone" even tho he knew he was wrong. He admits that he SAW the note Ross wrote and disregards it anyway. He didn't even apologize properly when confronted. Maybe if he say that he like the sandwhich in the end, or praised how delicious that sandwhich was that he couldn't help himself but ate it all, it wouldn't be as bad. But the fact that he threw some of it away just show he didn't really appreciate that food. Like, ok, I get that maybe it was too large of a portion for his stomach, but he can bring the rest of it home to eat later, or at least tell Ross that he brought them home with him, instead of admitting that he threw it away in the trash. It was clearly Ross's favorite sandwhich that he can't wait to eat it himself, yet this man is basically insulting that food and brag about threwing it away in front of Ross's face. My wife was a CNA and devoted her whole career to helping others. She always put herself last when it came to her patients and would even work sick sometimes. One day she called me and was crying because she was helping a client run some errands and had to leave in a hurry. She looked back after she helped the client get into her car and saw through the window a cup of tea she had just made for herself sitting on the counter. She didn't have time to go back and get it so she left so the client wouldn't be late. Through tears she told me "I just wanted a cup of tea for myself." Ross' behavior in this episode is totally relatable and actually heart-breaking in a real setting. It's interpreted as funny but for him it was anything but. When someone's life seems to be and endless ordeal of stressful situations, it really is the little things that keep you sane, whether it's a cup of tea or a sandwich.
This is one of my favorites. I had someone take my really great dinner leftovers out of the break room fridge on their way out the door when I was starting my graveyard shift. It sucked.
To be perfectly honest, Ross' reaction was pretty mild. If it was me, I'd definitely do some killing right then and there. Doesn't matter if he's my boss.

Ross showed considerable restraint here. Stealing someone's special Thanksgiving leftover sandwich and then throwing most of it in the trash because you weren't even that hungry is worth at least one hard kick in the wedding tackle. If someone hadn't eaten in 5 days and stole my sandwich, yeah, okay, fair enough, but this, this is just being a terrible person with no empathy.

Maybe if he say that he like the sandwhich in the end, or praised how delicious that sandwhich was that he couldn't help himself but ate it all, it wouldn't be as bad. But the fact that he threw some of it away just show he didn't really appreciate that food. Like, ok, I get that maybe it was too large of a portion for his stomach, but he can bring the rest of it home to eat later, or at least tell Ross that he brought them home with him, instead of admitting that he threw it away in the trash. It was clearly Ross's favorite sandwhich that he can't wait to eat it himself, yet this man is basically insulting that food and brag about threwing it away in front of Ross's face. This is one of my favourite scene of the entire show. David is such a gifted actor! He is e most talented of the group.
My wife was a CNA and devoted her whole career to helping others. She always put herself last when it came to her patients and would even work sick sometimes. One day she called me and was crying because she was helping a client run some errands and had to leave in a hurry. She looked back after she helped the client get into her car and saw through the window a cup of tea she had just made for herself sitting on the counter. She didn't have time to go back and get it so she left so the client wouldn't be late. Through tears she told me "I just wanted a cup of tea for myself." Ross' behavior in this episode is totally relatable and actually heart-breaking in a real setting. It's interpreted as funny but for him it was anything but. When someone's life seems to be and endless ordeal of stressful situations, it really is the little things that keep you sane, whether it's a cup of tea or a sandwich.
This is one of my favorites. I had someone take my really great dinner leftovers out of the break room fridge on their way out the door when I was starting my graveyard shift. It sucked.
