I was amazed how little there is to this hyped town. Does not look anything like Switzerland. I have been to the Swiss Alps.
Great views, and the rolling mountains here are some of the most ancient on Earth. The jagged peaks of the Swiss Alps are younger geologically and much taller.

Hello so unfortunately there is no guarantee of snow as we've had it in the 70's in December. The method to find snow can be about elevation. The Western North Carolina area ranges from around 1500'-6700'. It can be 45 degrees at 2000' and snowing at 5500'. Problem is there aren't many places to stay at higher elevations. Another thing to do is chase the snow. Sometimes it may not be snowing in Asheville but head north 1 hour and it could be snowing. A lot of it in December and January is just the luck of the weather. Hope this helps!
Wanted to let you know the Switzerland Inn did a remodel! The area looks even better now and there are a few different shops to peruse! Come check us out again! Thanks for spreading the word!
I absolutely plan on coming back sometime and exploring the town again especially when the shops are open. I'd also like to try out the restaurant in the Inn. Glad you liked it, and that it helps this beautiful mountain town!

Ive been to the real Switzerland and they nailed it. If you go to Switzerland visit Montreux. It's absolutely stunning! It's right on Lake Geneva and also a awesome view of the Swiss Alps.
Yes so the checkered past according to this history is the NC Supreme Court Justice, Heriot Clarkson that founded Little Switzerland, had some segregated views on who was to visit and enjoy Little Switzerland. However, that unfortunate past subsided long ago and it's a beautiful little town to visit.
Hey- nice video, but you really should have given a plug to the Skyline Village Inn where you started your video. It’s also a great place to stay in Little Switzerland, is motorcycle friendly, has its own restaurant and a very interesting history.

Hello - no a lot was closed down early or reduced hours because of the pandemic. It's not difficult to drive there on the parkway or from Spruce Pine, NC. Thanks for watching!
This "town" looks more like a mountain resort than a real town. But yes, there are a few European-Style towns in the Americas that look like the ones from Germany and Switzerland. In the States we get Solvang in California and Leavenworth in Washington State. In South America they have Bariloche in Argentina and Gramado in Brazil.
Yes great comparisons. I've seen some pictures from towns in Washington state that look like a picture straight out of the Alps as you state. Thanks for watching!
@@MrMountainMan From all of the European-style towns, the most charming one (at least, for me) is "Gramado" in the south area of Brazil. (The south of Brazil has a big German heritage; they even have the biggest Octoberfest beer party outside of Germany in Blumenau, Brazil.)

Looks a lot like our honeymoon in the mid 60's. We got the bridal suit there for the official termination of the courtship, which we did in the middle of the last century. No hookups, we had to do the courtship process. I was a graduating senior and she a junior determined not to let me get away. She graduated in three years. Well she was right. We lasted a little more than 60 years before I had to lay her to her rest up higher in the Smokys, whence she came. Always wanted to take her back there, but I never got it done. Wish she were guiding me. She always new what was right.

Hello, does is snow in this area? Looking to go to North Carolina for December. Any suggestions?
Hello so unfortunately there is no guarantee of snow as we've had it in the 70's in December. The method to find snow can be about elevation. The Western North Carolina area ranges from around 1500'-6700'. It can be 45 degrees at 2000' and snowing at 5500'. Problem is there aren't many places to stay at higher elevations. Another thing to do is chase the snow. Sometimes it may not be snowing in Asheville but head north 1 hour and it could be snowing. A lot of it in December and January is just the luck of the weather. Hope this helps!
I have a friend that lives in NC and is going to Switzerland in September. It will be her first time Little Switzerland can be here warm up...lol
That's great! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful ❤
Wanted to let you know the Switzerland Inn did a remodel! The area looks even better now and there are a few different shops to peruse! Come check us out again! Thanks for spreading the word!
I absolutely plan on coming back sometime and exploring the town again especially when the shops are open. I'd also like to try out the restaurant in the Inn. Glad you liked it, and that it helps this beautiful mountain town!
@@MrMountainMan it really did help. We have seen a huge jump in people staying, people like you are helping a lot! My parents own one of the shops here and we live less than 5 minutes away. We are open until mid November this season, opening next season sometime in march 2023 more than likely.

Looks like a beautiful place
Yes it was super nice and quaint, thanks for watching!
Spent my honeymoon night there, and was distracted by a magnificent thunderstorm with lightening illuminating the valleys below. Fireworks of all kinds.....(wink, wink)
Beautiful place! ...its really making me miss summer time right now seeing how green everything is😂 Awesome views so quaint! Thanks for sharing 😊 👍 also the video quality is very excellent I felt like I was literally standing there
Yes aren't the mountains so beautiful in the summer as well with the green landscape! It's a quiet, quaint place in the mountains that's super neat. Thanks for check out the video!
Love it
Thanks for watching!
Go visit Sparta NC. It's a nice little mountain area!
Yes that looks like a nice quaint town as well just like Little Switzerland, thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Sorry if I missed it - stores closed for Covid or just not open at that time of day/week? 226A is also a highlight, nice winding road. Great video.
Yes that day was in the summer last year in the thick of the pandemic, so hours were sparce and things were closed a lot. I've been hearing 226A is a good road to ride. Thanks for watching!
I lived in North Carolina all my life and been to North Carolina Mountains and never knew that existed.Wow.
Yes it's a super cool place to check out, thanks for watching!
It has been many a year since I wandered into that little spot in the road. So quaint, and not your every day type of place😊 Looks like they have a near killer ice cream place there 😏🤫 Be careful there MMM🙄 Don't you just love a find like that🐾🐾🐺
Yes I had wanted to go there for a while and finally made it. I'd like to go back and stay one day. The ice cream was good and the price wasn't too bad. I'm glad I didn't fall over on that chair at the shop 😂🤣 Thanks for watching!
Ive been to the real Switzerland and they nailed it. If you go to Switzerland visit Montreux. It's absolutely stunning! It's right on Lake Geneva and also a awesome view of the Swiss Alps.
Thanks Mr Mountain Man. I am definitely going to visit this place this summer 👍😊
Glad you enjoyed it, safe travels Tony, and thanks for watching!
Hehehe there is no hiding there with only 46 habitants! Will try to go there tomorrow
Yes what a cool little village, and hope you enjoy visiting. Thanks for watching!
So what was the checkered past?
That's what I won't to know????????
Yes so the checkered past according to this history is the NC Supreme Court Justice, Heriot Clarkson that founded Little Switzerland, had some segregated views on who was to visit and enjoy Little Switzerland. However, that unfortunate past subsided long ago and it's a beautiful little town to visit.
Hey- nice video, but you really should have given a plug to the Skyline Village Inn where you started your video. It’s also a great place to stay in Little Switzerland, is motorcycle friendly, has its own restaurant and a very interesting history.
Thanks Hugh for the information! Yes I didn't actually visit the Inn you're mentioning, and if I go back and do any other videos there I'll be sure to mention it. Thanks for checking out my channel!
@@MrMountainMan It’s currently owned and operated by Mike and Lynn Thrift, although it is for sale. Mike is usually happy to give a tour and tell the history of the place. It’s our favorite place to stay.
Looks beautiful! You need to visit Frankenmuth here in Michigan. It's a huge Bavarian Village known for their delicious chicken and Christmas store. It's absolutely amazing!
Yes! I think I did see a video from there and it is beautiful as you say and the Christmas store is huge! Thanks for the suggestion and checking out the video!
Check out the Trinity Alps in Northern California on Hwy 299 west
I had to look up some pictures and you are correct, what a beautiful mountain range in California! Thanks for watching!
@@MrMountainMan it's absolutely stunning. And the Trinity River is great for fishing.
@@MrMountainMan there's a few hidden lakes in the Alps
We live right down the road from there in Burke county.
It's a beautiful part of NC for sure, thanks for watching!
Hi, what is the address of this place? I may go visit the little Switzerland mountain NC some days soon. Thanks for sharing this great place to visit 🤩
The address of the Inn is: 86 High Ridge Rd, Little Switzerland, NC 28749. Here is their website as well: www.switzerlandinn.com/ Thanks for watching!
@@MrMountainMan thank you for the address
A true Hidden 💎!🎉💝
I live in NC and never knew this even existed
It's a great place to visit, thanks for watching!
Pretty cool place!! We have not made it by there before but looks very neat! ~Dawn
Yes it's a quiant little village area tucked in our mountains. Very cool place to swing by or maybe stay at the Inn. Thanks for checking in Dawn, and hope all is well!
Why was it all closed down while you were there in July? Also is it a rough drive on the parkway to get up there?
I drove by here once a week for years and I always thought it was closed or out of business. Looks beautiful, sad. No people
Hello - no a lot was closed down early or reduced hours because of the pandemic. It's not difficult to drive there on the parkway or from Spruce Pine, NC. Thanks for watching!
What kind of camera you have? Wich one did you use for this video? Amazing cam
This video was recorded in 4K using an LG G8. Thanks for watching!
I wish little Switzerland was a bit bigger
Did they shut down early in the day? Or is everything closed due to a holiday?
Stayed there go every year to do gemstone panning
That's cool, thanks for watching!
@@MrMountainMan maybe I will see you this summer lol
Cool 😀
😁
(The south of Brazil has a big German heritage; they even have the biggest Octoberfest beer party outside of Germany in Blumenau, Brazil.)
someone from there said population is now down to 28..we were there last week.
Oh wow maybe it's because it's still early in the season? I bet it fluctuates since it's a seasonal town.
lve those A frames
Yes the A-frames are beautiful. Thanks for watching!
226 is noted in the motorcycle community as one of the best curvy roads to ride and that is why you will see many motorcycles.
Yes I'd like to get my motorcycle up that way and check out 226 as well. I have some motorcycle vids on my channel including Tail of the Dragon, so make sure to check it out too! Thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/L2bJONWrwoo/v-deo.html
Just up the road, visit the Penland Art and Craft School - 20 miles
Thank you for the suggestion of the Art school, and thanks for watching!
I don’t live far from there. I live in Morganton North Carolina in Burke County.
All such a beautiful area here in western North Carolina for sure! Thanks for watching!
Did you make it up to Big Lynn Lodge?
I did not, but a lot of people recommended it so hope to someday check it out. Thanks for watching!
Sounds like you made wonderful memories there and hope you can get back someday!
