From her wardrobe to what keeps her up at night, we had a fairly intimate conversation with Nightwish frontwoman, Floor Jansen. But it wasn’t all pink roses and yellow daffodils; we also talked about the “Elan” video, what Floor’s musical tastes include, whether or not there’s a new album in the works (not yet), the upcoming DVD, and a lot more.
After red wine and cheese, things took a more serious turn, as we ended up talking about the state of the world and extremists who try to intimidate us out of enjoying our lives. Floor’s perspective is a cautious one, but it’s also courageous and inspiring. So, things ended on a rather gloomy note, but you can be sure that it was a fun and informative interview, that asked a few different questions than the standard fare, before Nightwish hit the stage in Montreal. Disagree! She ist not the NEW queen, she has been for a long time time but most people out there didn't realise until Floor joined Nightwish and got a bigger audience. Floor has been around for many many years. After Forever, ReVamp, many guest appearances with bands like Ayreon/Star One, Mayan just to name a few... And she is the one who brought Nightwish to a total new level! Even before Anett, Nightwish was going to get a boring with Tarja doin'... well just opera. With Floor as singer, Nightwish is more Rock and Metal than it was ever before. Just love her voice since I first saw her live with Star One back in 2002.

Dutch accents are very subtle. She seems very intelligent as well as one of the greatest singers EVER!
its amazing how soft spoken Floor is and then she has this huge amazing voice when she sings
In my opinion she is a great vocalist, she has a huge vocal spectrum, she is a great performer being cheerful most of the time and the most important thing is that she feels what she's doing, she's enjoying, she sometimes get emotional on stage and doesnt hold it in which is great. True artist in my opinion and with Tuomas' great and genius ideas I think she's a perfect fit for Nightwish! Got nothing to say about Tuomas, words are not much to be honest, his whole existence is a masterpiece. Such a magnificent band!
Floor is blessed with a God given voice and a beautiful soul.

I've just watched an interview where Tuomas said this will be the final line-up. I'm so fucking happy!

There are still some old grumps who never understood bands are bigger than their singular parts. They will never approve of anyone else than Tarja but luckily most of us know better. To me the band is complete now. The synergy is better than ever and you can see it in everything. Floor healed the band and the band healed her.

Such an impressive human being , Incredibly talented , great work ethic , humble , intelligent , gorgeous, great sense of humor , classy.... the whole package .
I went to a nightwish concert (for the first time, and it was fucking awesome) in the netherlands just 5 days after the attack in the bataclan club. I was really nervous while waiting outside with all the police driving and walking around with their weapons. During the show there were fireworks and by the loudest bang you could see everyone was scared for a moment. I'll never forget this show...

I love what she said at the end. She isn't bashing Muslims, saying they are evil. She is talking about extremists, and the issues that are happening and she is right that we shouldn't listen to everything the media or our politicians say on this and that we should be more open minded. She is a wonderful person. Rock on Floor.

Aligor Zeimet indeed, as a critic of religion myself I can confirm that the problem is far from being over once you utter the words "Muslims are bad". Quite the contrary: this is such a sophisticated and complex problem that the solution to seems to be lost aeons ago.
We could talk about how extremists are bad, and how Islam gives them the nutrient soil to prosper.
And indeed we may talk about how Islam - like all monotheistic religions - can be interpreted both good and bad (which is why I'd advocate for not following scriptural morality)
But the thing we all tend to forget is that the people most suffering from extremists are Muslims themselves. Look at Saudi Arabia! Iran! Pakistan!
Since the terrorist attacks last year, all of Islam has been painted with the terrorist-brush, whereas this is simply not true.
The solution, it seems, is education.
I absolutely agree. She has a very realistic look at these things.
I respect how she has a reasonable view on the situation without being judgmental and bigoted. she hopes things will settle down for everyone and the bad extremist would go away.
I am a big fan of Nightwish. Floor voice bring tears to my eyes. and as someone who fled the Syrian war back in 2013, I love her even more for knowing that, in her sleepless nights, she has her mind on what we've been through and hopes the world would find a solution.
The noise in the back was kind of annoying but it was a great interview overall. She's not only an amazing, beautiful and versatile singer, she's an inspiration since she overcomed personal issues, come back and now she's at the top of the metal scene. It's been like 15 years since the first time I heard her in After Forever and Ayreon. I'm still in love. ❤

Ps: good to hear you have a Muslim friend. I always like it when different people (as in origin, religion, lifestyles and so on) befriend each other. That is the openmindness that needs to increase! And I can imagine some interesting and educational conversations can insure that way too 😊

Just waiting and Hoping for new Revamp to be honest, Endless Forms Most Beautiful was pretty boring and too safe for me though there where some very good moments I loved. The first time I saw Floor with Nightwish did give me chills and The older songs sung by her are my favorite versions.

IMO...EFMB is not boring or safe. It's creative and epic!
When you get past the itch for everything to sound like it's showing off or turned up to 11, you'd be very impressed and moved by EFMB. I've listened to and played extreme metal for years and I've heard very few other bands with such versatile and intense writing.
Unfortunately, not video captions translated into the Czech language (or in another) and not far from the whole world will understand spoken English - so-that this should you improve ...

This interviewer has not done his homework. Why is he sitting there asking when albums come out and wasting this woman's time? He should look that stuff up and actually ask useful questions about the music. And mispronouncing Tuomas's name? Come on now.
Hey nightwish, how do you like your new frontliners singing your old songs? Does it feel like dressing your new girlfriend in your ex-wife's dresses? =D
