I'm having the same issue where I'm hearing somewhat of a whining/ wheezing noise. A "service rear axel" message came on and got it diagnosed. The dealer said it was the rear differential pump but I'm not sure if the two are linked somehow. Haven't it got it fixed yet.
So trying to figure out what the problem was here... sounds as if the pumpkin bearings is causing this issue.I got 2012 SRX AWD doing the same thing...

Where is the clutch solenoid valve?
Fixed? What was the issue?

Is this the problem where the rear diff clunks on acceleration and especially when turning?
