    I will stay with my Gen 5 G19. Just a proven handgun in my mind and really feels good in my hands. Plus it is easy to manage recoil with the G19. With my Vedder Light Tuck Holster I do not worry about printing. The holster has a claw and is very comfortable.

    I was never a Glock person because all I heard from people was Glock this and Glock that. Smith's and Colts were always my carry guns until one day at my local gun store, where I had purchased three pistols before, the salesman asked if I was interested in seeing the new Glock 48. It had just come out but couldn't be released yet pending some federal b.s. I held the 48 in my hand and I was smitten by the feel of it in my grip. I had to have it before anybody else bought it. Of course, the gun shop tacked on an additional $55 bucks for no reason other to make a bigger profit. Fine by me and they sold me the 48. I guess now I'm a Glock guy. It's one of my carrys along with a Smith 351pd 22mag seven shot. I dig Glock's simplicity and no frills with levers and safeties. Since then I've sold my Colt, Italian pre-ban Beretta and heavier Smith's. Now I know why so many folks put their faith, including thousands of police officers, in the ease of use and durability of Glocks. I should have known because my family ancestry started in Austria. Very good video, excellent commentary and gun handling.

    I realize this video is now over two years old... Hope you have several "Gen2" S15 magazines now and have installed a Shield Arms steel magazine release... This is combo runs absolutely flawlessly in my (black) EDC Glock 48.

    The Shield Arms makes the 48 very appealing.
    I’ve had some good luck with rubbing down mags with laundry dryer sheets. Sounds weird but makes them super slippery with no oil.

    I love my 48 but hands down in a gun fight I would take the 19 which leads me to still have the itch to still carry the 19 but with some practice I hope to be more comfortable with my 48 with my 19 it's just easier to steady my shot and have a easier time with finding my grip .

    • @ScotchNThings
      @ScotchNThings  Рік тому +1

      Ya that can be a problem with smaller guns. At the range I’m fine with them but drawing and firing isn’t the easiest

    Same here. I own a Gen 4 G19, but I couldn't comfortably conceal carry it due to my slimmer body frame. It stuck out like a sore thumb underneath anything but more bulky clothes, and constantly jabbed me in the side with my preferred 3 O'Clock OWB holster carry. The G48 is simply a fantastic "kinda full size" carry pistol. Easy to grip, easy to shoot, and very manageable recoil. I bought a couple of SA magazines, but haven't shot them yet. I'll check them out with my preferred self defense ammo, then they'll be cleared for daily CCW. I had a G43, but ended up selling it after buying a Sig P365 - which is easier to conceal in light weight summer clothes. The G43 became redundant, and I just couldn't justify keeping it -- a good pistol for sure, but redundant. So I typically carry the P365 when dressed in lighter weight shirts, and I'll carry the G48 during colder months when I have more clothing layers on.
    PS: For those that haven't felt the difference between carrying a G19 vs. a G48, I think most would be very surprised at the difference.

      Ya I love my 19 and feel like I’m cheating on it with my 48. I kept my 43 to shoot n GSSF and if I want to make a 43x

    I left my mags loaded for a week and they loosened up nicely. After the second week the mags locked in a released just like the factory mags. I left a load mag in the gun (chamber empty and locked in the safe) for the 2 weeks. All my mags run flawlessly now.
    Hardest part is being patient enough to wait.

    Thanks for the video. In my area, the 19 is about $80 more than the 48. Considering I’d have to spend about $80 for 2 Shield mags (even though the 19 comes with 3) and another $30 for the mag release, is difference in width between the two worth spending a little more when considering one or the other?

    • @ScotchNThings
      @ScotchNThings  3 роки тому

      Kevin D can’t go wrong with either. The 19 is still my favorite Glock if I could only keep one it would be a 19. It does everything. The 48 is really good also but just In a slimmer package. I like that the 19 can run 17 mags if you want to.

    $40 each on backorder and requires changing parts on your gun, no light rail.
    As I already have a 19 and a 26, this is not for me. I bet the 48 is a hoot to shoot though, I really like my 43.

    • @ScotchNThings

    48 mos is a great gun but my 19 gen 5 mos 2nd gen is better and will last longer for sure. Slim frame guns are good for edc and 48 is probably best in-between slim frame gun but ill take my 19 for crazy days . Think every state should be constitutional carry .
