Here are answers for few of your doubts raised after seeing this video rice can be any raw rice....not basmati rice Tamarind is 25 gms soaked in 100 ml water ,well squeezed and added...this is for bisibelebath made for 4 people, The chillies I have used for making bbb powder are Beydige chillies. For people who do not have khus khus ...there is no alternate...its better to do it without it. Many people have asked when to add the vegetables...IF YOU REALLY NEED THEM YOU CAN ADD IT WHILE BOILING THE RICE AND DAL....MY RECIPE DOES NOT HAVE IT. THANKS AND HAPPY COOKING.
I have struggled to find an authentic bisibelabath recipe all these yrs . Every other recipe ended up tasting like a variant of sambhar rice. Tasty but never the iconic original Udipi bisibelabath. Even in restaurants the stuff that passes for bisibelabath is actually just a tastier sambhar rice. And now after yrs of disappointment I have Finally found it . For the first time ever my bisibelabath came out tasting very similar to the one I had tasted many yrs ago in Mysore at a small Udupi hotel. I had give up any hope that I would be able to revisit that taste ever again bcos I have never since had a bisibelabath like that. That was simply mind blowing. Truly a dish fit for kings and testimony to how rich our original cuisine was. Before then I had always considered bisibelabath a bit of hype but my God that changed my opinion. And now finally this recipe comes closest to delivering that taste. Of course that bisibelabath I had yrs ago was something else altogether. I don’t think I can ever come across that ever again. But this was the next best thing by far. Thanks Chef . Much obliged.

Thanks Sir. This recipe was taught by my mother in law(who's from South Karnataka). All the ingredients except brinji leaves are the same. Most ppl I come across add garlic, shallots & say it is nothing but sambar saadham.

Yesterday I thought of making bisebele baath and immediately looked for your recipe/ vlog.The way you naratted and demonstrated the recipe it gave me confidence to go for it. Today i prepared at home judiciously following your instructions ( on my part added vegetables) and it came so good and even I couldn't beleive it that I too can prepare it Infact this was the first time am preparing bele baath. I shared the preparation with my aunt who is close by and after tasting it she couldn't believe it that it tasted so good. She asked how did i prepared it so good and I said it's courtesy Sri.Venkatesh Bhat's vlog which is avaible in you tube. BBB powder - DRY ROAST 1) Equal qty of ie., here as shown in video - 1 & 1/2 handfuls of bengal gram dhal, urad dhal, khus khus and byadigai chillies. 2) 20 gms of cloves & 40 gms of cinnamon 3) 20 gms of jeera and a bit of fenugreek seeds. 4) 2 handfuls of coriander seeds and 4 bay leaves 5) Dry coconut approx 1/2 cup. HEAT OIL, Season mustard seeds, add cashews add tamarind water, 3 to 4 pcs of jaggery 1 ltr water and boil. Add turmeric powder, cooked and mashed dhal (here - 1 cup of raw rice & 1/2 cup of toorr dhal ie. 200 gms rice - 150 gms dhal & 5 cups of water cooked for 4 - 5 whistles. Add 2 1/2 spoons of BBB powder, pinch of hing and 2 spoons of ghee, cook for few minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Yesterday I thought of making bisebele baath and immediately looked for your recipe/ vlog.The way you naratted and demonstrated the recipe it gave me confidence to go for it. Today i prepared at home judiciously following your instructions ( on my part added vegetables) and it came so good and even I couldn't beleive it that I too can prepare it Infact this was the first time am preparing bele baath. I shared the preparation with my aunt who is close by and after tasting it she couldn't believe it that it tasted so good. She asked how did i prepared it so good and I said it's courtesy Sri.Venkatesh Bhat's vlog which is avaible in you tube.

BBB powder - DRY ROAST
1) Equal qty of ie., here as shown in video -
1 & 1/2 handfuls of bengal gram dhal, urad dhal, khus khus and byadigai chillies.
2) 20 gms of cloves & 40 gms of cinnamon
3) 20 gms of jeera and a bit of fenugreek seeds.
4) 2 handfuls of coriander seeds and 4 bay leaves
5) Dry coconut approx 1/2 cup.
HEAT OIL, Season mustard seeds, add cashews add tamarind water, 3 to 4 pcs of jaggery 1 ltr water and boil. Add turmeric powder, cooked and mashed dhal (here - 1 cup of raw rice & 1/2 cup of toorr dhal ie. 200 gms rice - 150 gms dhal & 5 cups of water cooked for 4 - 5 whistles. Add 2 1/2 spoons of BBB powder, pinch of hing and 2 spoons of ghee, cook for few minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves.
And NO cardamom and onions...
