- Emily Hughes discusses a first glimpse of rare new footage of her father Lenny Breau.
Brilliant performance dedicated to Emily's mother Judi Singh (Hughes). More to come!
If Lenny's daughter Emily reads this I may have a lead on possibly a treasure of Lenny's playing with another guitarist that this late guitarist told me about years ago. I can get in touch if you are interested. I personally saw your dad perform many dozens of times when he lived in Toronto. If you want just leave me a note. Much thanks, I too miss the great Lenny Breau.
Apparently not, but I’m not surprised
Judi Singh has one of the most natural, beautiful voices I've heard. I've listened to plenty of them in 70 years... she's marvelous and even beyond category. See her with Lenny on, "The Lenny Breau Show" CBC Canada 1966.
Still admired in Auburn Maine.Happy birthday in heaven.
Lenny let me play that guitar back in 1980. The next day one of the songs he played was Emily!
Man I miss Lenny,a gentle spirit and musical genius.
Looks like I'm not the only one who searches for Lenny on the daily.
Greatest thanks to Emily and the couple who shared this rare footage. The world needs more LB!!! It will grateful to see all 8 hour videos!
Any new Lenny stuff is always great. Always cool to hear him sing. Thanks for sharing.
I stumbled upon Lenny at a NAMM show , did not know who he was but my ears caught him playing in a booth and I was srsly dumbfounded .
HIS MASTERY, BOUNDLESS
I SAW HIM PLAY OUT IN THE
SAN FERNANDO VALLEY
CARLOS GUITARLOS USA
Incredible!
Thanks for posting this. I took a couple of lessons from Lenny in Brunswick Maine in '79, saw him perform a bunch of times with clarinetist Brad Terry, and interviewed him for a profile I wrote for a regional Maine weekly. The whole encounter mind-blowing, life changing. He was a truly astounding genius.
I tended bar at the Cellar Door in Auburn Maine Lenny played every Sunday night for a while … pretty amazing !
Jack Zaza told me many great Lenny Breau stories. As a Breau fan, it was a joy to hear them.
"Fantastic!..." How sweet to see and hear a 'new one' from Lenny! - Thanks! , Emily, for all that you do.
Beautiful....... :)
Right on, Emily ❤️❤️❤️❤️ AMAZING! (I used to study w/Paul LaRose.)
My guitar teacher at Humber College in the 80's, Peter Harris, owned that very electric guitar in the video, and he gave me a few private lessons with it. I believe they were friends, and he had inherited it, something like that.
Brilliant. Anything new is welcome, Emily!
I have an appetite for Lenny Breau recordings, which will never be satisfied. I wish there were more videos of him.
I have been a fan since his live album came out on RCA Victor in 1968 I believe. When I saw Lenny was going to perform in the L.A. area I was excited. It was a great performance.
Thanks for posting, whoever posted it. Emily, its great to hear you talking about your mom and Lenny. I live in Edmonton and saw Judi when she was singing with the late great Tommy Banks, and saw Lenny whenever he came through town. He was always so kind and gracious. He was playing a grandstand show at Klondike Days and our folk group The Clady Singers were on first and got a chance to meet him. I still have the autograph he gave me on a scrap of newsprint table cover. I'd like to include with a black and white picture of him some day if I could find one for sale.
Can't get enough of Lenny.
I could just cry
Definitely need more of this!
Lenny was an absolute musical genius of the contemporary music/guitar. Thank you for sharing Emily ..!

God bless you, Emily.
Thanks. He’s one of my guitar heroes!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I hope to see more of this uncovered footage. Excellent, insightful, inspiring and heartfelt.
Bless your heart. Sad and sweet all at once. I remember hearing Lenny Breau doing these harmonics and asking myself how you even do that on a guitar. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Your dad was awesome.
Wow, Emily... eight hours! You must be so happy to see and hear that! Thanks for sharing this little piece of it with us.
Is there a way to see the rest of the footage? I’d love to see all 8 hours.
Me too. Or any amount you would like to share.
Who wouldn't....
Amazing I would definitely buy the footage.!
Awesome Lenny
This is so good. Thank you Emily for bringing your Dad to the world. Before your documentary(s) I had only heard of him. This is great stuff🙏
That's a touching beautiful video, thanks for sharing Emily !
It's quite good quality. This is amazing.
I would be interested in buying all eight hours on one DVD
Thanks Emily, that was better than fantastic. I hope you find a lot more that you can share with us. Lenny has always been such an inspiration to me. I can't play like him, but it doesn't stop me trying.
Magical
Prescious.
Amazing

This is a treasure indeed -- thanks so much for sharing it here.
Ethereal and Magical
I was shocked to learn that this footage was available and I immediately subscribed and am looking forward to more!
THE GREATEST EVER ,!!
This is awesome Emily!
This's just beautiful ! Thank you so much.
Genius. please get this man in the Canadien walk of fame.
There is still such an awful lot about Lenny that has never been revealed, his life, his death and his music… Definitely an underestimated player.
can I hear the full version of the song?
❤️
I love Lenny. His singing, not so much. 😂 Great video.
Can we hear it without talking over the whole thing?
people do not understand that jazz players who play a lot of others peoples music constantly write music if placed in a new light could be a singular hit written by the jazz artist!!
What's the deal about still no headstone for Lenny's grave, after all this time?
Ibanez Artist
Is it just me or does Lenny, (The guitar guru who raised the bar for everyone!) sing consistently flat?!? and if so how and why does this phenomenon exist?
I always enjoy my dad's honest and sweet singing voice. However, he didn't consider himself a singer. He would often preface the rare tunes he sang on by saying, ''I'm not really singer...'' It was sort of a 'when I feel like it, I may sing' type thing. Nobody thinks too much about it...it's an absolute guitar genius, who will sing a little when he feels like it. That's the feedback I get from his peers.
Emily don't get me wrong, I LOVE your Dad's artistry on guitar, in addition I truly am thankful for you two films but his singing is like putting bicycle wheels on a Ferrari- they don't match and your reply did not address my question specifically. Peace.
On Five O'Clock Bells and New York City, the wheels match, as they do on That's All from the Velvet Touch album.
Yeah, they’re all having trouble living off of his name as a lot of people are. There’s no footage or they’re not sharing it. There’s no new recordings just these crappy bootlegs. It’s really hard to make money off of someone when they’re dead and there’s nothing new. It’s kind of like Ted Green, but at least his were lesson oriented and they could be shared and interpreted differently. I would never contribute a dollar to anything to his family simply because they’re just not putting anything into it or anything forward.
@@Telepkr you couldn't be more wrong. Emily has made two beautiful documentaries on Lenny honoring her father's memory and legacy. I first heard of Lenny Breau when the first one aired on CBC and I still love it. You should talk to your therapist about these strange, spiteful things you write
He's been dead for 40 years this year let's release all the stuff already take this little Snippets these poorly made videos these awful documentaries and all you want to do is release Snippets every couple years like I said it's 40 years now no one cares anymore because it's simply Watching You release stuff one little shity snippet at a time. If you want to make money and it sounds like that's all you really care about then just release everything and sell it otherwise me and a lot of other people would just move the hell on
You should go to therapy and not abuse people online
Yea but can the guy play anything?
